So many things can bring me to tears. I just cannot look at any clips depicting cruelty to animals. I have to look away. The same when I see suffering on the faces of those poor families living in war zones or in parts of the world where they starve or are stricken by diseases. The unfairness of it all hurts.
Some songs make me cry. I am having Danny Boy played at my funeral - I want a multi-Kleenex send-off.
Yes, young children singing carols always sets me off too. My heart hurts so much when my grown up children suffer. My sons have suffered horribly this last year and I feel so helpless, but their pain is my pain and I do cry myself to sleep sometimes, praying that life will be good to them..that they'll endure.
My darling granddaughter (3) had me in tears a few weeks ago.She was tiny when her Daddy became ill and died. I was sitting on her bed reading her a bedtime story recently which mentioned a Mummy and Daddy Owl going to sleep in a tree...She looked straight at me and said "My Daddy was poorly and he didn't get better. He is asleep in the sky now..." I had to look away and blow my nose. Whenever she drifts off to sleep as I sing to her I want to cry. She is such a sweet, innocent thing. The preciousness of her touches my heart.
I still cry at the loss of my dear Mum. She died in 2000, at a good old age but I miss her so much - her cheery nature, unconditional love and words of wisdom were my strength when my life was hard.
I like to think I am slightly cynical but I am not. My insides are melting as I get older and the outer shell is trying to hold it all together.
