Are people with certain names attracted to each other?

My brother is a Dave, his ex wife's dad was David, they named their first son David and when they divorced she married another David!

I know an Anne and Michael, too!

I know of 2 Janet and Johns

I know a David and Carol and a Mike and Anne. My daughter was engaged to 2 different Steves before she met and married a third one!

Rosina...... our childrens' generation are calling their children the names that we probably wouldn't have thought of for our children: violet, Sybil (I have a dgd called this) Ethel, Dolly,Wilfred, Reginald , I could go on! Our grandchildren will rediscover the joys of Sue, Chris, Penny and Jan in about 25 years! ?

We have 2 sets of friends called Barbara and Andrew. My paternal and maternal grandparents were called Thomas and Mary. And we ,too, know a Chris and Chrissie .

I've got a Chris and Chrissa couple and they share the same birthday as well.

The names that never seem to be given to children now are the forties and fifties Carole, Janet, Christine, Susan, Donald, Keith, Robert, Kathleen, Joan, John, Patricia, Colin, Sandra, Penelope - nobody seems to like them. Perhaps they will come back. I do know a Janet and John.

My son and daughter both married Davies, totally different families but quite a coincidence.

Nobody has mentioned Pat & Tony. We know several including DH and me

I also know an Ann and Mick... My name is one that was VERY popular in the 50s - there were seven of us in my class at junior school..! On the other hand, I haven't heard of a child with my name for well over 30 years - so maybe it'll be making a comeback soon?
My Dad's name (Stan) is one that I never thought would be used again - and yet there's quite a crop of tiny Stanleys now (likewise Arthur, Alfie, Maisie, Elsie etc - all names common in my parents generation but almost nonexistent since)

Years ago at the same time my daughter Lisa went out with a Steve and my son Steve went out with a Lisa. Although they are now with different partners 2 of my other daughters are now married to Steves

I don't know many couples these days, but when DD2 was born in 77 we were thinking about names and decided that Jennifer was a lovely name we hadn't heard in years, only to find, having fixed on the name, that she was one of 3 in the same mat ward. The interesting coincidence is that every other mum in question had been expecting boys and got girls instead.

I'm a Sue too My husband was Steve. When we were younger there were three couples who were all Sue and Steve and we were all friends who went out together. It got quite confusing. I am known in some groups as Suze because of the number of Sue's.

I believe that Susan was the most popular girls name for several years running during the 1950s... so not surprised that we know several Sue and Petes.

In fact there are so many Sues around here... all of us around the same age... that I'm called Sus to avoid a muddle.

We have come across quite a few Sue and Peters but then as someone said they werer popular names at the time. I expect we will see eventually lots of Beyonce and Kanyes.

The fact that I have an unusual name might be why I had few boyfriends! There obviously wasn't a named person for me!

I can't think of any of our friends who are duplicate couples but lots of people who are called David D, David B, David M etc and Richard next door, up the road etc.

We know two couples of John and Dorothy.

I have a small collection of David and Carols, one Peter and Pam and a David and Barbara. Could be it's an even smaller world than we thought and we all just know the same people!
