I can tell you Yorkshire gal that if you gave a good cut and wear nice make up you are not treated as if you are past it!! Silver hair is now very fashionable and very grey hair coloured is no longer so - according to my hairdresser - telling people this loses him money so must be true!!

I have been silver /blond since my thirties have never needed conditioner I like tressemme shampoo .

I should be silver, but I colour my hair, always have. I think silver looks distinguished on a man but not a woman. I notice that people treat women with silver hair as if they were 'past it' so I intend to keep on colouring. I use Tea Tree products and my hair is always nice and shiny so it suits me, makes me feel younger even if I am not.

I would suggest that you look at how you dry your hair.
Frizzy hair can be as much to do with the way your dry & style your hair
Even just letting it dry naturally will not stop the frizz
The cuticles on frizzy hair need to be smoothed down

I use an argon oil heat spray then dry with a hot brush.
The argon oil is a dry oil

I use dove for mature hair and have for a number of years put the conditioner on first. ( After a mistake at swimming baths!)

You might think I'm slightly mad but I use a very tiny amount of Brylcreem on my short dry hair and it always gives it a sparkle and holds it in place without being greasy and sticky

I use TRESemme Luxurious moisture shampoo, never use conditioner after my friend, a hairdresser, said it was unnecesary, and its true, after my hair is dry I do rub in a slight amount of VO5 styling wax, and it always looks shiny without being sticky, and lots or people remark on how shiny my hair is, it is silver now. I never colour my hair.

If your hair if frizzy, try using shampoo without parabens and sulphates in. Esp sodium laurel sulphate, which you find in washing up liquid. It's in there to create lather and very harsh

Herbal essence and tresemme do them as do others.
Also use a cotton t shirt to wrap round your head after washing and not a towel as this makes hair very frizzy and do not rub your damp hair.
I've been doing this for two years now and hair is more controllable now

John Frieda do purple shampoo and conditioner which takes out the yellow tones.

I use Aveda Blue Malva shampoo to keep the silver tone and avoid the yellowish tinge that sometimes develops in white/grey hair. It's quite pricey but I buy the biggest size and decant it into smaller containers.

I use touch of silver you can get it in any supermarkets, there is the cleansing shampoo first silver shine shampoo second and conditioner works for me,

Since my hair has turned grey/white, I've been searching for hairclips to blend in. They do black, brown, blonde but nowhere can I find white. I mean the old-style type - I think they may have been called kirby grips at one time. Online I find "fancy" ones, but not plain ones. Any ideas please?

Lush do a purple shampoo which is good for grey/white hair, and there are natural products to enhance grey hair.

I henna my hair still, because the darker colour makes the hair thinning less noticeable. As far as condtion of my hair, I'm now pleased with it, as I now never use off the shelf shampoos. I use a number of natural and/or organic shampoos which I mainly buy from the USA. They don't use SLS or other harsh chemicals and they make my hair soft and shiny. I like: Earthly Delight; Dr Mercola;Isvara Organic. From this country I buy a gorgeous shampoo from The Aromatherapy Shop which is Argan Oil and something else - it's brilliant.

My feeling about thinning hair, unless someone comes up with something that works and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, is that we need to brazen it out. Why should our scalp showing through be considered something to be ashamed of?

I started going white/silver when I was 27- so it has been v important for me to have healthy looking hair. Now in my 60's and my hair, never dyed, is still good and silky. I use John Freida Lighter Blonde conditioner, expensive I know but it works.
Please don't use cheap and nasty shampoos like Timotei or that other one name escapes me (one where the woman is in a waterfall)because it strips your hair out.

I recently noticed a tv advertisement which said to condition first then shampoo. I asked my hairdresser and she said she had never heard that. I have tried it and my hair is much more manageable when I do it that way but it is harder to comb out prior to blow drying.

Had to laugh welsh wife ! Just about everyone in our little commune has had that terrible colour ! The lady next door had modified hers a little now she is over 60 and has thinning hair ! I have thinning hair as well as its horrible after having fine hair but lots of it ! I have tried a lot of these silvery shampoos but they don't seem to make a lot of difference ! I have thyroid problems which my doc says causes the hair to thin I hate it ! I have bought so many products, cheap, not so cheap and expensive designed to fill out thinning hair with no joy ......I have tablets to have for the thyroid problem and have seen various tablets to take for thinning hair but my doc says since I have to take so many tablets for different things (healthy one here !) she does not think these would be a good idea !

Looking at wig sites (you don't get a prescription for one here after chemo, and the hair loss is not due to that as I had the type that does not cause the hair to fall out ?!) maybe its time for the Donald hairstyle or a comb over ?

So if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them ....my bathroom cupboard is getting full up of little used bottles and potions and I would prefer to throw them all out and buy just one product !

I completely stopped using conditioner and replaced it with a coconut oil application prior to my shampoo which I sometimes leave on overnight (sleeping on a towel over my pillow) - soft soft soft.

My hair is in much better condition and I can go a week without needing to wash it. I'd never go back to conditioner now.

I've dyed my hair ash blonde for years, and have been thinking about letting it go grey for a while. I've been using Touch of Silver a couple of times a week, and it seems to be helping the blonde and grey merge. Great on blonde and grey!!

I can thoroughly recommend the White Hot range available from Boots online. You don't need to use much. The best I ever used was Pantene Silver Expressions, which my daughter used to buy me in America. She has not been able to get it for the last year, and it seems to have been discontinued. I could never find it in the UK. I've used Touch of Silver, but for me it was not a patch on the other two mentioned above. I also tried the Kingsley range for grey/white hair, from John Lewis. It was expensive and didnothing for me. My vote goes to the White Hot range.

Having had blonde hair that's now ash, almost white, I've shied away from trying any of the (blue/purple) products that seem more for silver grey hair. Are there any shampoos/conditioners, etc that you've found help 'lift' the ashy blonde/white to make it look shinier?

Go to Pets At Home. They do a very good shampoo for white dogs. I have a Westie and she is radiant when she's been bathed.

My hairdresser recommended changing shampoo regularly. I find Pro-voke Touch of Silver ( there's a twice weekly one and an everyday one) , Elvive Fibrology are both good and if my hair's dry then Argon oil of Morocco shampoo and conditioner. The last one is often on offer at Sainsbury's.

No! Do not use Baby shampoo! It's shite.
It's non tears formula is due to high alkaline pH levels that are the same as tears. You could probably perm with it. (!)
Use a shampoo for Human hair.
The reason your hair is lovely after a visit to the hairdresser is because they use salon quality shampoo.
Timotei is rubbish too. Full of cheap bulking detergents.
If you want lovely hair, you have to be prepared to pay for quality products.
You wouldn't buy Tesco own brand food and expect your meal to taste like it was prepared by a top chef, would you?

I have used the Touch of Silver' range but find it makes my head itch after a couple of weeks. I invest in a bottle of Aveda Blue Malva shampoo which does cost £30 a litre but lasts me over a year. I use another shampoo first - vary that one but usually a bio or similar and then do a second wash with the purple one. Ask for a pump which should come free - makes it much easier to use as the full bottle is very heavy - and it makes it last longer - I use two pushes. It keeps my hair a good colour and people do mention it - my French friend asked me what I used.
I notice that since the 'Anglaise' have come to live and many have silver hair more French women go for it too rather than the bright magenta colour some favour.

Try Johnson's baby shampoo, leaves my hair very soft and silky, and easy to manage.

Don't laugh this is a serious suggestion. You need an equestrian shop and buy conditioning shampoo for grey (white) horses.
