I did the telegraph pole thing, when I took a group of students on an outward bound holiday to France.
None of the students would do any activity until the staff had!
Never again!
You should all feel very proud (imho)

....and found that you rather liked it?
Last night (shock horror) I did a Burlesque master class !
I was kind of roped into it to make numbers up and wasn't looking forward to it one little bit, but to my surprise it was really good fun and not at all what I expected.
Has anyone else done anything way out of their comfort zone and found that they quite enjoyed it and would like to do it again?

I hate lifts and heights too but managed to get in a lift and whizz up to the top of the Empire State Building. I don't know what scared me more - the lift or looking down from the building. I'm glad I did it thoug.
though.
Standing up and giving a speech/talk in front of a crowd of people is VERY scary radicalnan and definitely something out of my comfort zone.
I gave a eulogy at my grandmas funeral at the end of 2015. She was a very well respected (and at 99 the eldest)member of her Catholic church and I (being a complete non believer) thought I would be struck down. Standing in front of a full church was one of the most scary things I have ever done in my life!
Never been one for public speaking myself, but we were told to give a 5 min talk on anything we liked, using props, and this was to be copied to video. Talk about scared! OMG! I did one on living and working in Norway, which went well, but I could feel myself shaking like a leaf inside. For some strange reason I looked calm on the video, which just goes to show that even if you are scared stiff you can bluff your way through and no-one will notice. Concentrate on your props, people will be more interested in those; Breath deeply in and out as you walk up those steps; Find someone you know and speak to them, better to have a few others dotted around the room. Do not mumble talk to someone at the back of the room. I used to take an asprin beforehand and convince myself that it was calming me down :-)
I stood up to an ex husband and told him I was filing for divorce. Never been so scared in my life. Never looked back since.
Back in September I spoke live on local radio about the issue of the right of grandchildren to see their grandparents. In some ways it was within my comfort zone as I was on the phone in my own living room lying on the sofa in my dressing gown! In other ways it wasn't, because althought I'd prepared a cribsheet it went totally out of the window, as the presenter asked me things I wasn't really expecting. I think it went ok though, and there was a time when I really couldn't have considered doing such a thing.
Since then, a national petition has been launched on the Petition Parliament website: -
“Support the right of children to have an ongoing relationship with grandparents."

Teetime - what's a shimmy?
Teetime - what's a shimmy?
Come on Teetime explain !
We're all waiting...
Mmmmmm yes. But I'm not telling!
waiting... tapping fingers. S'been nearly an hour now.
To shimmy - stand up hold your arms out wide and shake your bosoomers and hips- do it naked if you dare!!!
Had a baby.
I took a job as a market researcher. I'm extremely shy so it was really difficult to go and meet people. I am so proud I did it.
Teetimewhat one does in the privacy of one's own home is one's own business [snotty Margo Leadbitter emoticon]
Do you have nipple tassels by any chance? I had some lovely sparkly ones on last night !
Over the top of my clothes of course.
The thought of me doing a naked shimmy makes me feel physically sick!
Oh I see chuckling. Thanks for the very descriptive definition Teetime. ☺️
No nipple tassels. DH once got thrown out of a strip club (in his younger days) for laughing when the lady in question made the tassels go in two different directions. I do not wish to be the source of his mirth!!
I have no problem public speaking and have been interviewed on both telly and radio for work but all that physical stuff in previous posts - never in a million years for me, I'm such a wuss. I once went on a roller coaster, when they were quite tame, aged 8 in Yarmouth. My knees were literally knocking in the queue to get on, I hated it and I've never been on one since. Well done to all you brave women - the most I do is Zumba but I can shimmy!
Oh making the tassels go in different direction is a skill Teetime as we found out last night those with the larger boobies found it much easier
I did a Tandem Skydive over the Kent countryside from 13,000 ft for my 50th Birthday. I have also climbed over the top of the 02 and Sydney Harbour Bridge and been white water rafting in Oz. I would now love to do a Wingwalk, maybe for my 70th Birthday in a couple of years, although it is very expensive! Never say never
I went to Florida with my family firmly thinking that I would be chief bag minder.
I ended up going on all the rides even though I was terrified out of my mind.
I enjoyed every minute of it even though my face was green !
At the age of 59, on the spur of the moment I applied for funding to go on a course at a French University. The last time I was at uni, I was 21. To my surprise I got the funding and it was only when I was sitting in Schiphol airport, waiting for a connecting flight to Lyons that I panicked, realising what I had done. I was terrified. I assumed that there would lots of people from the UK- I assumed wrongly. The participants were from all over Europe. I had a ball. I could probably have been the mother of most of the students! I am so glad I did it, as I am not usually spontaneous!
It may not seem very daring to anyone else, but not being a swimmer, I was persuaded to go down a water slide when in Florida, in 1991. My husband, daughter and then SIL all promised to wait in the pool at the bottom and catch me when I got there. When I got to the top of the slide, I was watching to see what everyone else was doing, they all lay down, so that`s what I did. I went down like a bat out of hell, but when I got to the bottom nobody caught me and I went under. I panicked, and when they got me upright I was crying my eyes out, but all they did was laugh, especially as once I was upright, the water only came to just above my waist (I still had one then!) Never again!
I can swim. callgirl1 but I am not a strong swimmer and slides terrify me as I had a similar experience of whizzing down a slide and going under at the end. I couldn't put my feet to the floor and honestly thought I would drown. I watch my DGC swimming like fishes and diving in like little penguins and I regret not being a stronger swimmer.
Really funny that the water only came up to your waist though. I bet you felt such a fool when you realized.
