Hi me my daughter and my grandson went shopping this morning to buy all of his new school uniform as he is starting secondary school in September.
I bought all of his new uniform as I agreed with my daughter that I was going to. The cost was quite expensive. If you had to buy uniform this year how much did it cost?
My grandsons uniform I bought him 2 of everything
School jumper with school logo £11
School polo shirt with school logo £9
Black school trousers £7
School shoes £2
Pe top £10
Pe shorts £7

Tuck box lemon ? You can afford to feed them as well as clothe them?shock

lemongrove Mon 21-Aug-17 21:00:11

It's the price of the tuck box that worries me.?That's before the tuck that goes into it!

Jane10 bleurgh! You keep it!

I counted my granddaughter's school frocks (12) and pinafore dresses (10). About the same number of shirts, half a dozen cardigans as they get lost, 1 pair of school shoes from Startrite which cost £40. My daughter says these quantities are normal and some are hand-me-downs.
My children had 2 of everything but I was a SAHP with time to wash and iron every day.

Unfortunate accident with onesie. Don't think you'd want it in this state. I thought there were poppers... blush

One size 6 and one size 10?

Um, one 36C and one 36G?

Lona Mon 21-Aug-17 19:56:31

Is it ok if I stuff them down my baggy bra?

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 19:39:02

wot about the mismatched socks?

(still knitting although the cat has now got hold of the ball of wool in revenge)

Lona Mon 21-Aug-17 19:37:23

Thank you all, you're so kind. My darlings are very grateful.
The purses will be useful to carry the dry bread (for lunches) as well as the farthing each for a bottle of water.
We'll keep the holey jeans and the plimsoles for weekends if you don't mind.
Bless you all.

I am getting in a tangle with 4 needles, one just shot off and hit the cat.

I am trying my best to make another unpair of 6 and 10.

trisher Mon 21-Aug-17 19:30:26

Look on the bright side Jalima1108 you have plenty of time to finish those socks.

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 19:28:08

shock
How on earth will they graduate with a First Class Honours in Jam Making if they have to wait that long?

phoenix Mon 21-Aug-17 18:40:54

You lot have missed the most important must have, get their names down quick thing!

No, on the day they are born you don't have to put their names down for Eton, Harrow or anywhere else, what you need to do is put them down for an allotment in Camden, apparently the waiting list is currently around 47 years! shock

I've been out gathering sheep's wool from barbed wire fences all day and I've already carded it, spun it, mixed it with recycled lentils and now I'm knitting it into a balaclava cum liberty bodice for my GD. Beat that for thrifty!

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 18:21:39

It's going to be summer again tomorrow - hope someone can unstitch you Jane10!

Ana Mon 21-Aug-17 18:18:58

Is it winter already? shock

Hope there are poppers, otherwise it could be very awkward (not to mention messy!)

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 18:15:25

Has it got poppers underneath Jane10?
(like a babygro)

Jane10 Mon 21-Aug-17 18:13:38

I'd let you have my onesie but I've been sewn into it for the winter.

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 18:08:04

If they do need some clothes DD has a couple of pairs of jeans which seem to be very ripped all the way up, I was going to throw them out for rags but your DGC's need is greater Lona.

I'm on to it trisher, knitting with one hand and posting with the other.

(actually that pattern is so sweet I might make some for my own DGD, but Lona's poor cherubs must come first.)

Oh! I don't have 'frilly feathery yarn' so I'll stick to the sock knitting.

Greyduster Mon 21-Aug-17 16:19:16

Bare feet and clothes with holes in? Character building! Stuff some newspaper inside, they'll be as warm as toast! I was!

trisher Mon 21-Aug-17 14:09:38

That should be knitted of course!

trisher Mon 21-Aug-17 14:09:11

Jalima1108 Lona's poor GCs are going to need somewhere to put their lunch money. There's a bitted purse here
jeremynjenprice.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/sassy-frass-scrappy-purse.html
I'd make it myself but I'm afraid they'd lose all their pennies through the holes! Could you oblige please.

Crafting Mon 21-Aug-17 14:09:10

Lona please have these used plimsoles for your poor GC. I got them from a previous post last school holidays. They look as good as new. They only seem to come out once or twice a year ?? grin

Suki70 Mon 21-Aug-17 13:57:50

My DH is wondering why I'm laughing out loud! grin

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 12:31:12

First pair of socks finished even as my fingers are tapping away on GN.
I knitted them while I was reading posts.
I'm a good multitasker grin

However, one sock is size 10 and one is size 6. Sorry
