Hi me my daughter and my grandson went shopping this morning to buy all of his new school uniform as he is starting secondary school in September.
I bought all of his new uniform as I agreed with my daughter that I was going to. The cost was quite expensive. If you had to buy uniform this year how much did it cost?
My grandsons uniform I bought him 2 of everything
School jumper with school logo £11
School polo shirt with school logo £9
Black school trousers £7
School shoes £2
Pe top £10
Pe shorts £7

Maybe we should bring back Ragged Schools-something must be done for Lonas GCs!
There's even a university now

I have started knitting socks for Lona's poor DGC

At least their feet will be warm even if the rest of them is goose-pimply.

Find some sack cloth or collect wool from hedges and fences and get spinning Lona those poor children gringrin

Lona Mon 21-Aug-17 10:28:00

My gc are having to go to a naturist school as we just can't afford uniforms and as for £2 for shoes........... no chance!

Jalima1108 Mon 21-Aug-17 10:04:21

Of course they do MawBroon!
The crème de la crème.

My twin DGD already have their names down for the same finishing school that ChrisineFrance's DGD will be attending and they are only 9!
The boys' names were down for Eton as soon as they'd had the 20 week scan.

petra shhh, between just you and me they are called Primus, Secundus and Tertius
Unfortunately Primus gets called 'Stove' at his prep school, no idea why confused

Chewbacca Mon 21-Aug-17 09:45:38

grin no BlueBelle, I'm just useless at checking if my post had "gone"!

petra Mon 21-Aug-17 09:44:13

jalima
You must PM me the names of the triplets as my own grandson will be attending grin

trisher Mon 21-Aug-17 09:41:37

Is this a game? If so I got my DGD 2 school skirts, 2 blouses, 2 cardigans, socks, a lacrosse stick, a winter coat, a cello, a pair of shoes and a designer satchel and the shopkeeper paid me to take them away and threw in a bottle of gin!
grin

BlueBelle Mon 21-Aug-17 09:26:50

So good you said it twice or were they twins

shysal Mon 21-Aug-17 08:56:20

grin

Chewbacca Mon 21-Aug-17 08:44:09

Call that a bargain? I can beat that. I got my DGD school 2 skirts, 2 blouses, 2 cardigans, socks, a lacrosse stick and she's only 3, a winter coat, a cello and a pair of shoes and the shopkeeper paid me to take them away. he would have given me a lift home too, if I'd asked bet none of you can beat that for a bargain. hmm

Chewbacca Mon 21-Aug-17 08:38:59

I got my DGD a school uniform of skirts, blouses, T shirts, tights, lacrosse stick and she's only 4 and shoes and the shop paid me to take them away! Now that's what I call a bargain! Anyone beat that?

MawBroon Mon 21-Aug-17 08:32:16

Second thoughts.
Were you being ironic and was I being slow?
Don't answer the second question. blushblush

MawBroon Mon 21-Aug-17 08:31:02

Do girls still do "Finishing School"??
I thought that had died out by the 50's along with the debutante season!!

Christinefrance Mon 21-Aug-17 08:23:49

There is no uniform for my granddaughter's finishing school in Switzerland but the cost of extra courses is exorbitant - fencing, riding, dancing, etiquette, cordon bleu etc. Thank goodness I have my state pension to help out. grin

I bought my 5 year old GD two 'used' school summer dresses in the uniform sale when I went to collect her one Thursday and they cost £13 each so I think the shop price must be at least £30 ea. fortunately no one has asked me to buy the rest of the stuff, New or otherwise.
Uniform was always expensive. When I went to grammar school in 1960 the bill for my uniform including a gabardine raincoat, science overall and gym kit was £100. I don't know how my parents found the money but I do know that the owner of the shop gave us a lift home!

Thanks for that Tree I was getting worried that your GS wasn't going to be kitted out this year. Is his surname Pan by any chance?

kittylester Mon 21-Aug-17 06:24:21

I've just realised that DSGS wears Vans. I don't know whether to be pleased or not! smile

BlueBelle Sun 20-Aug-17 21:40:47

I guess he's 11 again

trisher Sun 20-Aug-17 21:32:19

Oooh -maybe 20%- shoes for £1.80!

kittylester Sun 20-Aug-17 21:14:04

Shoe zone are looking for staff and you'd probably get staff discount!
