Made an apple crumble for tomorrow's pudding and left it to cool with a tea towel over it.
My cat has stepped into the middle of it and left a hole. It's perfectly edible thanks to the covering but some people may not want to eat it. How can I explain away the hole in the middle or should I start all over again in the morning?

Put some cream on it and say nothing. It was covered so no harm done smile

Fill up the cat's paw hole with blackberries or other soft fruit and have some "spilling over" onto the top of the crumble.

Say nothing ...... different if the cat had touched the food but it hadn't so keep quiet about it you could even cut it into portions which won't show the hole x

If anyone asks, just say that you let out the steam. Custard, cream and ice cream cover a multitude of sins.

If you don't want it.....any chance I could collect it? Sounds very tasty!!

Made an apple and blackberry crumble with DGS a few days ago. (Been black -berrying).For a final touch he put a hole through the middle to "make it look nice". Your cat must have had the same idea. (It will be clean and taste just as good with the "artwork").

Cut it into slices all ready to eat

I would wait until they'd all finished then say, 'If you're wondering why there was a hole in the top of the crumble, I covered it with a tea towel while it was cooling down but the cat stepped in it.'

'Anyone care for a brandy?' grin

Serve it in the kitchen. Just ask at the table how many for Apple crumble.

Or.....Get the brandy out early, pour a large glug in the hole and set fire to it.

Flambéd Apple Crumble...What's not to like?

Thanks for imaginative ideas! I have also made jelly for crumble haters and a chocolate fudge cake so plenty of choice.
