I always find a nice jacket to wear by accident, as I come across one, but where to find reliably good ones, both expensive and inexpensive? Do you have any recommendations?
FarNorth, I too have a large bust. Jackets are a nightmare because I need a big size to accommodate the bust but then the sleeves are too long and everything else is baggy. I have been lucky in Bon Marche. I bought a dressy long cardigan in a charity shop and it's been wonderful. Great with jeans, skirts, dresses.
Because of you lot I have just bought a long cardigan in Sainburys, it reaches my knees and is in 3 shades of grey. I also bought a top there to go with it.
A few days ago, DD and I were shopping for a jacket for her. She had a lot of trouble because of having a large bust. Plus sizes looked like tents on her while others wouldn't do up at the front. We eventually got one from Top Shop.
I have half a dozen jackets, all bought new and unworn on Ebay for an average of £5. I usually do a search under a particular colour, e.g. denim blue, which cuts down the number of items to trawl through. A jacket can instantly smarten an outfit I find, along with a string of beads or a pendant.
Thank you all for replies.? I already have woolly type unstructured jackets and fleecy ones, and a black jacket bought last year ( sadly, for funerals) But have just cleared out several older jackets to a charity shop.So really need a smart one and an inexpensive more casual one.
I have bought 2 superb Boden jackets from ebay. Both are perfect and cost less than £20 each. You have to be vigilant in checking quality etc. But so far I have not been disappointed.
I have had some nice ones from EWM, they usually have a good range of styles and colours. I like my jackets to go for all aspects of life and adjust the top I wear underneath to suit occassion. I also have a dressy silky jacket from Jacques Vert which is still coming out for special dos after six years of use!
Wallis do have some nice jackets. If I'm lucky, I pick up a nice one in M&S, but sometimes their jackets can be quite frumpy and it can be a hit and a miss. I also find Bonmarché frumpy, but every now and again, they get it right and you find a little gem. Good luck!
