Myself instead of I

I hear it almost every day during phone calls and it really irritates me. Why is it thought necessary to say, for example, "We've sent the contract out to yourself" instead of "We've sent the contract out to you"? It really is an annoying and pointless manner of speaking. Imo.

The use of myself and yourself instead of me and you is utterly ridiculous and just shows a really poor education. (In my humble opinion)

Yes, Lucky, it makes my toes curl, but I'm just an old pedant. I sometimes resist the temptation to point out the error of their ways, but not often.

This silly fad is passing, it was more common 5 years ago than now.
My hackles rise every time someone on the radio says "ay" instead of "uh" as in, "I ate ay sandwich and ay cake and had ay coffee."
