Has Dover moved to France?

We were in France and got a message welcoming us to Iceland. Not sure whether they meant the shop or the country

It is the way the airwaves work. They cannot understand or obey territorial boundaries.

I was at South Stacks, Anglesey in North Wales earlier this year and got a text message welcoming me to Ireland!

It happened to me in SE France. My phone suddenly announced that I was in Italy.

Oh well, not just me then! Didn't get a text at any point travelling west saying 'Welcome to UK'. When we visited Antwerp recently, which is only about 20 miles from the Dutch border, didn't get a 'Welcome to Netharlands' message either. Thankfully didn't make any calls while in Dover.

Yes I stayed in Dover a while back and was charged for foreign phone calls. Now mobile charges are equalised in Europe hopefully that doesn't happen. The lady in the hotel,said she had a French mobile as well as an English one as otherwise their mobile charges were sky high.

Granfromafar It happens in Deal (near Dover) in Kent, as well. I don't know if it still applies, but it used to count as a 'foreign' phone call or text if you used your mobile there, but that might have changed. We found that out the hard way!!

Something like this happened to me. I was in holiday in Corfu and went on an excursion to the highest peak in Corfu (not that high up). I got a text saying welcome to Albania.
