Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and very good company. 
There must have been a big 'weed' craze in those years.
We once found some strange plants in our greenhouse, grown by our eldest, then a teenager (now 54 I can't believe he's that age) .
"They're tomato plants, Mum." But no flowers, fruits etc, so they had to be pulled up.
He was very upset
We often used to park at a Nottingham car park when it was Goth night at a local club; I used to wonder what some people thought was going on [walking onto the set of a horror movie, perhaps]. The funny thing is how totally unthreatening Goths are! I do miss the days when I used to get passively stoned at concerts [I swear it was passive]. The last time I got a whiff of something like that was when I walked past a local station...I almost followed it like the child in the Bisto advert...
....On the subject of film sets, Netflix are filming a film/series about Rob Roy and turned part of Berwick into Glasgow Docks. Unfortunately we came home on Sunday and they were filming yesterday and today. Would loved to have seen it happen as I missed out on seeing Transformers when they were shooting at Bamburgh last year.

Your gd looks beautiful n&g, they grow up so quickly. I’ve promised our youngest one a girl’s day this Saturday while her big sister is watching football with their dad. I’d hoped for an afternoon of baking or similar but she wants to go shopping. She’s 8 going on 18 in her fashion aspirations, it should be an interesting afternoon for us both! She’s a chatty wee soul so I’m sure we’ll have some good fun on our jaunt.
I smiled at the thought of “Donald where’s yer troosers “, soop, my old boy has been called on to give a —rather raucous— rendition on occasion! Sounds like it raised a smile where you were too. Are you still feeling below par?
Sorry to hear you’ve had some frustrating fishy times greyduster, I can’t imagine standing still long enough to be successful at it but that’s because my concentration span is probably not much more than that of a fly!
It was my birthday yesterday and, following a sleepover with dd1, we had a lovely day out in the Peak District. As part of that we revisited the reservoir we went to with our family a couple of weeks ago. Minus the “herding cats” thing that always seems an aspect of being with a larger group —or maybe that’s just our unruly family— we found a good trail, thanks to some insider information (aka greyduster), round Ladybower Reservoir and enjoyed a fine walk there. The colours were just beginning to turn and it was dry and mild. I can’t resist a couple of photos.
Time to shut up and log off. Ironing duties in the morning. Oh joy! I shall catch up early afternoon.

soop I'm sorry to hear you're feeling low too, but I'm honestly not surprised so be kind to yourself. I'm usually like this when we change the clocks but it seems to have started sooner for me this year. I keep telling myself This too shall pass and it does, sometimes reoccurring about February if Easter isn't till April. I believe Good Friday is March 30th next year so I might get away with it! Thanks again for all your good wishes and 
and a hand to hold, which made me quite tearful. I have so much to be grateful for but just can't stop feeling a silly ninny sometimes.

NanaandGrampy You deserve a gold star for putting a beautiful smile (so like that of Grampy) on Miss Laura's face. She couldn't look lovelier. Her outfit is a winner.
Greyduster I like the cartoon. Should I try fishing, I would need to wear a life belt or be swept away in raging torrent. Also, I would definitely not like to hurt the fish. Would you say that I'm not a natural!
anno Ripped jeans are so naff. How can any sane person be prepared to pay top dollar for designer ready-ripped jeans? It's crazy. I do remember my youngest son liking to wear ragged, frayed cuffs to his sweaters. That was way back in the 80s. I was asked not to repair the cuffs. It wasn't cooel (to be tidy and well turned out!) The best bit was when he decided to be a Goth. All black clothing sprinkled with talcum (dust) and he wore eyeliner (risen from the dead). He and his best mate imagined that they were spitting images of the band 'The Cure'. I never commented on his appearance. He liked it. Fine with me. I shall try to find a photo of son and pal in their regalia.
I've been to the care home and helped with serving some refreshments. As things were a bit too quiet, 
we sang 'Donald Where's yer Troosers?' not all from the same hymn sheet! The Tuesday morning fire alarm was sounded. Doors locked. We share a well-worn joke about how many firemen we would like to give us a lift. It appears that some ladies still have a devilish sense of humour. 
First things first. THANK you for your kind, supportive words. You are right. There is a weighty load of negative stuff and nonsense on my mind just now. It will pass. When depressed, I feel that all the troubles and strife in this world of ours are too much to bear. Believe me, I am grateful for all that I have: a good husband; family; home and friends. The reason for visiting the care home, is to help get things in perspective. This morning's visit hopefully cheered up a few of the residents. When they wave and blow kisses as I leave, it puts a real smile on my face.
I shall now read through the many messages. After which, I shall return.
I am so with you on the jeans anno . I’m not paying for jeans that make me want to do repairs before they’re worn .
I’m sure she’ll want to go with friends in a few short years but for now she likes being in charge of her old Nan . She takes my card and pays for things and orders when we stop for a cuppa. All good life skills I think. AND learns how to be polite and respectful... old fashioned I know but I think it gets you a long way.
I'm with your there, N&G; where does the time go? Laura looks very cool indeed. The photos say it all and, insofar as I am qualified to give an opinion (in my case just being a woman doesn't cut it), I would say they were excellent choices! She certainly seems to have her head screwed on - at the moment GS can see no further than wanting to be a footballer. What a waste of a very bright boy's potential.
I am feeling more sanguine about my expedition yesterday. Maybe I'll give it another season ?. It was one of these days yesterday (see photos). They happen to the best, and I can't count myself among their number. DH says I ought to start loving myself a bit more. Winter will give me more time to reflect on how I may temper my fishing expectations to match my age and fitness! I was talking to a nice young woman in the opticians last week who told me her mother (not quite as old as me) goes fishing. She complains about all the gear she has to lug around which leaves her exhausted before she gets to the bank. I only have a rod and a pocketful of flies and I'm exhausted when I get to the bank! Anyhooo! To everyone who has been feeling it of late, I hope that things are looking up today. I will look in later (using my new specs, which I am picking up this morning!).

Took Miss Laura shopping last night - the brief was an outfit to wear in a month to a Little Mix Concert ! ( We had already dismissed over the knee boots !!).
She ended up looking a little bit rock chick. AND all in black. Not my favourite for her but we found a little leather bomber jacket ( which she assures me is VERY Little Mix) so we built an outfit around it.
Little black jeggings which look like skinny jeans, a t shirt that looks appropriately cool ( and the most difficult thing) ankle boots with no more than an inch heel !!
She was soooo pleased and then Grampy surprised her by taking her out for steak !! AND she got to choose off the adult menu . It was such fun, we chatted and discussed all sorts of things including her choice of career. She has decided to become a midwife ( all planned out, school, college, uni and then midwifery school apparently) BUT its ok it that doesn't work out she is planning on being an undertaker !!!!
When Grampy assured her we will always need people for 'Hatching and Dispatching' she thought that was hysterically funny . ( Grampy thought so too....poor old soul !!)
Anyway, it was a precious evening and she assured us she will never be too old for shopping and steak ( Grampy blanched because he had to pay for it all !!)

Just a quick pop in to say hello. I'm so sorry to hear that a few folks are feeling low, it's not pleasant feeling that way especially when coincides with the end of summer that was summer? and the nights drawing in too. It's strange that when all is well in our world Autumn can seem such a lovely time and hunkering down in a warm house can feel positively comforting, yet when all is not so well in our world the same season can engender completely different emotions within us. There's no just no use in guilt about feeling that way, sometimes it just is how it is.
