Nosey Neighbour

What I can't understand, you say this is a new estate, so why didn't they get all these special things when the house was being built?
I admit I've been very nosey with our ex - neighbours (english.)
He used to work in the oil and gas industry and had 'loads a' money' and renovated and extended an old house over about 10 years. Pool, orchard, beautiful garden, the lot.
Then everything went wrong for him, oil industry caollapsed, he lost his job, and now he can't even sell it. Although I never liked the man, I do feel sorry for him. They're back in England now, divorced.

His garden is probably a bio diverse eco garden ?

It is a rare day that we do have police attendance in the street, we often have a PC in the house late at night surveying our CCTV footage.
Neighbour opposite is clearly a very bad boy as bailiffs often bang on his door at 6 in the morning. He manages to escape because the house looks as if it is uninhabited, I think it is five years since he touched the garden. This is not a poor old man but a Parliamentary candidate for the Hreen party.

I used to live next door but one to an interesting family....interesting as in the mam and dad had incredibly loud arguments which often ended in the police being called. They were called so often that the local children were on first name terms with them. I have to admit that I, along with many others, became nosey neighbours as the arguments became a form of local entertainment.

I now live opposite a crook businessman who is constantly visited by the police, debt collectors and some very big, dubious looking men. When his car disappears we know that the debt collectors are on their way. When he disappears we know the 'dubious gentlemen' are on their way.

I can only see trees from my front windows, no excitement at all.?

We don`t live in our front room, it`s my daughter`s bedroom, so being round the back we didn`t used to see much going on, but now we have CCTV I regularly put it on in the daytime, just to people watch.

I do try not to be nosey, however this morning I noticed all the curtains were drawn and cars still parked at our next door neighbours. The Dad is a teacher and the children at Upper School so usually out by 7.45 am.
By the time it got 8.45 I was getting fidgety and imagining all sorts of disasters. So we gave it another 10 mins and then were going to investigate. Then we saw the Mum come out and it turns out it is a teacher training day today.

Ooh, someone after my own heart. We had designer radiators fitted, each one cost more than a houseful of bog standard white ones but they are so worth it.

Ooh, should have guessed last night when I saw what was in the garden. They are having designer radiators! Tall thin ones with vertical bars that sort of stick in and out so they're not flat, if you know what I mean.
The plumber says they are in different colours to match the decor in the rooms. And he says they are having a new boiler and moving it to the garage.

Well, I kind of bumped into him when I was putting the bin out this morning...........

You would be very welcome nina, it often involves trawling through hours of footage to give police a copy when a neighbour has seen someone walking up the street " in a shifty looking way "

Can I come and play harrigran my dream job is a city centre CCTV operator.
Whenever the are shown on TV H says "It's a nina job" ?

Our CCTV monitor provides fun for GC, they like to think they are spies or private detectives.

Eglantine, have the builders arrived? I feel so deprived there are no houses opposite us and both sides the neighbours are very quiet and settled. All I can watch is the planes coming in to City Airport.
I painted a door in the hall yesterday for some excitement. Sad.

Come on people, buck up, what sort of nosey neighbours are you? DH runs his own official Nosey Neighbour Club (just him and the grandsons). The times he alerts them to goings-on across the road and they dash over and press their noses (or even their binoculars - oh yes) to the window.... I've got to tell you that mysterious vans arriving rarely mean home improvements. It's all about spies, bank robbers, and super heroes dashing home for a quick change of cape.

W11girl, I am very envious of your camper van. Driving home this evening I was thinking how great it would be to have a small camper and go off somewhere exploring. I suppose I could hire one.

I don’t know whether I’m mean or careful. I’ve been in this house over 30 years, the kitchen has been replaced once ( over 20 years ago) and the bathroom once. Decorating was done using plain paper that only needs repainting and carpets chosen for durability. My home will never be a show house but I’m comfortable in it.
