Memory Foam mattresses

I thought that I would dislike memory foam, as I absolutely can't stand being too hot
However, I took my late mums mattress as it hadn't been used, and its lovely. It wasn't expensive, but it has a cool side for summer use. A lot of my aches and pains feel better since getting it.

I live in central Italy too. We bought a memory foam mattress because I have sciatica but we found it and the pillows very hot and have gone back to a conventional mattress and pillows even though Italian mattresses all seem to be very firm!!

Thank you all for your advice. Oh dear! I live in Central Italy and June, July and August are sooooo hot and sweaty! Maybe Memory is not a good idea. However, would support anything if it's good for my arthrosis and lardosis .

I have heard good reports on the Dormeo Octaspring mattresses, but they are expensive. I have the topper and (free) pillow which I love. The pillow feels like a brick but is remarkably comfortable to sleep on, no more sore ears!

I love my memory foam mattress and I even have a memory foam pillow which I love. There is a heat issue but as I am permanently cold, it rarely affects me. Occasionally I fling the duvet over.

I do have a slight problem getting out of bed because of the mattress but I can live with that because I love the mattress.

In fact, I think there was that option with our Tempur.

Ikea do that too I think and their mattresses are reasonably priced.

There are memory foam mattress companies that let you try the mattress for up to 100 days to see if you prefer it. Perhaps that's the easiest, low-risk way to try one. Simba and Eve both offer this and their mattresses are quite reasonably priced.

It's hard to say whether you'd like a memory foam mattress. We were advised to shop several times for mattresses gradually reducing the number we retried until we got the one that suited us the best. It took a while but we've ended up with a lovely comfortable mattress that suits us.

We bought one some time ago but couldn't get on with it, apart from feeling too hot I couldn't move on it I felt like I was stuck to it. OH didn't like the sensation or feel of it so we had to stop using it.

We have a pocket sprung mattress with a deep memory foam layer and its been wonderful.

I think that one adapts to the heat issue. I certainly don't find it a problem now.

I was interested in this type of mattress but a couple of friends told me they made them feel hot. As I have a problem with over heating I didn't pursue it.

A lot depends on the depth of the layer of memory foam. Ive got 50/50 memory foam and pocket springs. It really is like floating when you sleep on it. I love it. Unfortunately DH doesn't like the sensation.
I like 100% memory foam too. DD has them and I sleepover when babysitting.
You'll definitely feel the benefit of a new mattress whichever you choose. I remember feeling very stupid when my chronic backache cleared up completely when we got a new bed!

Or even Tempur!! Wouldn't really fancy a tempura mattress!

We've had a Tempura for about 12 years and love it.

There are some mattresses with a memory foam layer on a conventional mattress but I imagine they wouldn't be as good as a full one.

I got a Tempur mattress about 3 years ago and I love it. It was expensive but I got it in the January sale when everything was 20% off. I do have a dodgy lower back but this mattress supports my back really well and it’s sooo comfortable especially if you and your OH are different weights. None of that rolling into the middle. Downside - it weighs a ton and if we do ever want to move it we have to get someone to help us!
