Baby photos?

I don't think there are any photos of me as a baby, but more as time went on - the usual seaside shots and so on. I think there is one somewhere of my mother holding me but I'm nothing more than a bundle of shawl in her arms .

Oddly enough, we have hardly any baby photos of our own children. I think the earliest I have of my first is at 6 weeks. We had only an old Kodak camera, with a non working flash and as it was winter, I guess we felt it was too cold for outdoor photos and indoor shots simply didn't work. We couldn't afford a new camera, so there it was . By the time the second one came along I had managed to acquire a Polaroid (B&W only) so we have a few very young photos of her. And then things improved and new cameras were bought as they grew into childhood.

I was born in 1954 to working class parents and have loads of photo's of both myself and siblings as babies and young children. Although there are far more of my eldest sister than the rest of us. We don't have any studio photo's of us at all.

I was born in 46 and I have baby pictures.

After saying that there are photos of me as a baby, I`ve been thinking, and realised that I never saw any photos of my husband before the age of 7 or 8, or any of his brothers and sisters. The ones of me were mostly studio photos, possibly my mother didn`t have a camera.

I’m 1944 vintage, one studio portrait of my mother with me in my christening gown on a table in front of her, then nothing till I’m around 18 months at the seaside, frilly swimsuit, sun hat and squinting into the sun.

I have a portrait pic of myself at 9 months-------with a sulky face, taken in 1941. It seems I could/would not smile on any photographs. So I was wilful even then !

There's a passing resemblance of certain members of the family and myself but the weirdest thing is the likeness between my youngest daughter and her half-brother's daughter. It's uncanny. They'd pass for twins.

I was born in 1943, there are a few of me as a baby, but not a lot.

My father only had a very cheap camera, my dads friend probably took the first pictures.

The first picture I had was me at about 2.

It was obvious to don't have baby photo those days because of lack of technology & it was quite expensive for everyone to afford at that time. If we see today, everyone has smartphone & those love to capture baby photos can use specific apps for this like a use baby story app to keep track my baby milestones.

i was born in 1940 and do not have one photo of me or my brother ,we have an official one when we were about 1 yr and 3 yrs ,it was the one sent out to my father in a red cross parcel when he was a POW ,but other than that one ,nothing till i was 8 taken when we went to Penzance for dads R&R when he came back, then not one picture ,of me or my brother ,,lots of the 2 younger siblings ,not one of us ,!!

The only baby photos that there were of my sister, born 1950, were taken by our maternal grandparents. No one else had a camara, or could afford a camara.

Both my dear husband and I were born in 1951 and the ones I can see are two studio photos both seemingly at the same photographers (his dress was nicer than mine) and the seemed when we were at the sitting up stage. I have found just one of me on the beach all wrapped up in a shawl held by my aunty but all you see is the shawl not my face. It just didn't seem to be "the thing" then.x

No baby photos but a few tmore toddler snaps and one posed photo

I was born in 48 and there's lots of black and white pictures of me when I was first born and from the Christening and other occasions that happened when I was a baby. Very glad I've got them. Lots of pics of my parents with me and other family too.

I was born 1950 and earliest photo of me was taken when I was about 4.... there is one of my brother crawling around the front garden in 1948/9 but they’re the earliest. My sister born 1939 hasn’t any early ones , although mum and dad were both in the army so photos of her would hardly be taken as gran looked after her.Its incredible the amount of photos we all now take of our kids and grandkids. Cameras in our days were very expensive as was film development, so lack of photos was to be expected.if you are lucky enough to have any.... treasure them.

Yes Grandma70 I was born 1939. Have photos in garden and pram taken with box brownie which was in the family until I was grown up. Some posed studio photos also. I look like the Pirelli Tyre man in the one when I am 8 months or so old.

We weren't well off had a lovely childhood though. My brother, born 1945, and I the only two children in the family. Only me left now.

There are no baby photos of me either.

My first photo I was age 5yrs and was a bridesmaid for one of my aunties next one I'm around 7/8 where I am with siblings I was early fifties baby .

I was born in 1955, a few photos of my Christening then only a few throughout my childhood. My DF was a Painter & Decorator, DM stayed at home.

In my teens DF became more interested in photography but there are still not lots of photos of me.

My DD has just had a set of Studio photos done (must have been a good offer as they don't have much money) so there is still interest in having proper photos not just digital ones

My father was an enthusiastic amateur photographer, so there are quite a lot of baby photos of me, perhaps, because my elder brother, who they did not take photos of, only lived long enough to be baptised.

I was born in 1951 and I agree there are not a lot of photos from those years, generally speaking unless someone in the family took and developed their own photos.

One of the best photos I have are of my 3 uncles and 1 aunt taken when they were aged between about 1 to 5 (obviously a studio portrait) in the early 1900s all dressed in their finery - two boys in velvet suits with lovely starched collars and my aunt in coat with a big collar. The baby appears to have some sort of crocheted top over his clothes. Roll forward about 10 years and they're all standing in the back lane of their house - the boys wearing tweed suits with short trousers and hob nailed boots. The contrast is so marked - their father had been killed in WW1 before my mum was born.

Funny this should come up now as I was about to try and find baby photos of my 59 year old daughter who has just become a granny and I have been asked if the new baby looks like her as a baby. Unfortunately at that time we didn't have much money and photos were few and far between, nothing of her Christening although her sister, two years older has photos of her Christening - not fair I hear you cry, but it was all about money sadly. We did get some Polyphotos done later when they were about 4 and 2 presumably things had looked up financially by then!

I have a studio photo of a beautiful blond baby boy from 1904. This child was my maternal grandparents’ first child, and they were obviously very proud of him. It’s a sad story. He died of meningitis aged three in 1906, along with his little sister. They would have been my uncle and aunt. My mother was the first child who lived, then my uncle, her younger brother.

There used to be a huge framed enlargement of the baby boy photo in my grandmother’s house. My mother told me that his little sister who died did not get the same treatment because she had some sort of physical deformity. Very sad.

Born 1956, first photo aged a couple of weeks with the midwife who delivered me at home. Quite a few baby photos of me and also my two older sisters (1945 and 1952).

What does sadden me a little is that there is not one photo of the whole family, mum, dad and sisters, and only one of my father holding me as a baby.

Mum was born 1919 and I have a couple of baby pictures of her as well.

Born in 1961 only a handful of photos from my childhood, youngest must have been me sitting on the floor of the caravan which we lived in at the time at about 8 months
