Yes i was shocked to hear of it I was a child in the 70s and he was fun and seemed a good egg.Rhe good die young.I didnt even hear news that hed been ill
I was surprised how much the news of Cheggers death upset me: like most of us he was a big part of my teenage life. My childhood wasn't a happy one. I think he always seemed so normal, ordinary sort of guy and not untouchable like I feel alot are. The P who said they knew people who had met him and said how friendly he was is probably why! It feels just like yesterday I was watching him on TV. I think also has he was in long term recovery as I am of which he was very open about opened my heart to him. A truly decent guy who has passed to young. RIP Cheggers and thank you for the memories
Yes he was a genuinely friendly man . My late husband did some plumbing work in his house when Keith was working on swap shop. He invited our 2 sones along to the show and they sometimes went with their Dad to his home to supposedly help, but ended up playing in his garden and generally having a good time! An all round good man .
I had the pleasure of knowing Keith through mutual friends, and I have to say he was one of the most decent human beings I have ever known, not a bad bone in his body. Unfortunately he fought his own demons early on in his career but came out the other side, so to die like this just seems so unfair, and beyond sad. R.I.P Keith the world would be a whole better place with more people like you in it.
If I am being honest I am a bit old to say he was particularly well known to me but the tributes to him on the news programmes sound so sincere and genuine, he must have been a lovely and well loved man. He battled the demon drink and came out well and it is sad he died so early. RIP Keith.
