What’s your ‘thing’?

hildajenni yarn for me too - I have just been sorting through and am ashamed at how much I have, bought in various places.

It used to be china and glasses but I resist that now

I am trying to have a cull.

My friend says that John Lewis has a good sale on .....

paddyann, kitchen stuff, not gadgets as such, is my thing - I just love it all. I'm going through a brightly coloured bowl phase at the moment. I have quite a few. I justify it on the basis that it cheers up our old blue Denby plates and, if I didn't accessorise, I'd be replacing the dinner service on a regular basis. I love spatulas and spoons etc too.

And, glasses. I've just bought some more wine glasses and had to move some from the kitchen cupboards to make room. There is no more room in the corner cupboard, or the sideboard or the box in the back of the wardrobe. My habit comes in handy though as we are the go to people for anyone in the village needing glasses for a party.

Yarn, yarn, yarn. I love a wool shop or craft shop, let me in and you'll have great difficulty getting me out again! I'm almost addicted to crochet.
It used to be books, but with e-books I don't frequent bookshops like I used to.

Craft books, especially ones with the history of a craft. Will have to stop soon as running out of space to put them!
Also embroidery threads and fabrics.

Fabric

Well my phone which I'm on now.

DH a programme on the Travel Channel 'Shed and Buried'. A couple of blokes who buy and restore mainly old motorbikes......yawn

Plants. We downsized for a smaller garden which was all grass when we moved in apart from an aged apple tree and a large walnut tree. The lawn has now morphed into ever narrowing grass paths as a bit more edging is nibbled off and the edging plants moved forward to make room for the latest acquisition.

And scarves. I can never have enough scarves.

Gardening book, especially old ones that have to be bought from Amazon booksellers, plants (can't wait to fill the boot of the car again) and paint!! I still have an unopened tin of Cuprinol olive lurking in the shed which I bought to paint the garden benches and didn't get round to it.

I've finished my decorating indoors but DD is about to start so I've offered my 'services.'

If we see eye to eye over the décor it will be a miracle

TV property renovatingg both buying and renovating and antique shops/fares.
It was dolphins, but I have had to resist for a while now as no room. H is terrible, he tries to encourage me. "I can always put up another shelf" NO
His 'thing' is tools old woodworking tools, power tools, he has £££ worth.

I'm addicted to scarves, jewellery and handbags. A girl can never have too many and I buy them from charity shops, in the sales, car boots, jumble sales etc! Mind you, space to keep them all can be an issue ?. Love shoes too but wouldn't buy them pre-owned so don't have as many as I'd like....

Books, yes and kitchen gadgets. I am a sucker for something that might make me more efficient and a brilliant cook.
And hand creams. I am always on the search for a better hand cream.

Fabric. I am a total fabric whore, cannot walk past a fabric shop, and I never come out of one empty handed! Ditto anything sewing or craft related

And kitchen stuff - I have to force myself not to buy yet another piece of bakeware or different size roasting/cake/muffin tins, or kitchen gadgets. My kitchen cupboards are stuffed to the hilt already. It's not even as though I particularly enjoy cooking .

Oh dear, lots of things. Books, earrings, nail varnishes, perfumes and scenty things of all description. I have to stop to inhale any lilac, night scented stock, lily of the valley, proper old fashioned roses I might pass, and I'm an embarrassment in TK Maxx, according to the family, because I could happily stand there all afternoon sniffing the soaps .

It used to be shoes, and though I still have dozens of the beautiful things, and always zoom in on them in shops (just to look these days), the bunion has practically put an end to my high-heeled glory days.

I would love Kirstie and Phil's job because I am hooked on renovating, moving and buying. I am an avid follower of the houses for sale around here.

I also love books but refuse to pay the price of a hardcover- I much prefer a gem found in a charity shop like yesterday, 5 of them.

I do rather like cushion covers, thinking about it. Usually charity shop finds though. I recently took off some covers to wash them and found some I liked more underneath. My cushions are like onions, with layers and layers underneath.

Gosh! I seem to fit into every of these categories.
When we moved house, I gave my children some of my bath sheets - did I really need 27?
Any book shop - not so keen on second hand ones - love the smell and feel of new books. And yes, recond shops too - never used to go past one, just in case!
Gastroporn - especially on TV is another "thing".
Kitchen gadgets - nowadays I tell myself I don't need them and avoid the websites [don't go out much these days]

Fountain pens and really good quality paper and ink - but I have now had a clear out because almost everything I do gets done on the PC. My other weakness is towels, especially big, snuggly bath sheets.

kitchen shops ,I could spend a fortune on moulds and tins and skillets and dishes and beautiiful glassware ..so my OH rushes me past them ..usually though I end up in my second love HMV or independent music shops where I can browse for hours .OH doesn't leave me on my own in a "record shop" any more ..well there was that time I spent nearly £300 in half an hour ...and I hadn't heard of most of the artists.lol Wasn't disappointed by any of them though..love finding new music

I have another ‘thing’ - notebooks. Can’t resist really nice paper and I’ve got loads on the go for all different purposes.

Scarves oh and lipstick, which I rarely wear.
Both have an immediate uplifting result.

Books books books I can't walk past a book shop when I'm in the UK.

Fly fishing shops. I have to be hauled out of shops that sell fly fishing equipment bodily or I would stand there all day drooling over rods and reels, coveting their weight forward fly lines, the latest thing in furled tapered leaders and discussing the merits and demerits of fluorocarbon as opposed to copolymer - and don’t get me started on flies! Well, you did ask ?!

Glasses, particularly for ?. Not nice ones, I just seem to have an urge to buy them in charity shops. I seem to think they will come in useful. I’ve got about 30 ?. Party at mine anyone?

Chunky jewellery - the cheap and cheerful kind NOT diamonds and gems! And cushions. I've got a 'thing' about cushions. My sitting room is rather dull so I'm going for colourful cushions [in the sales] to brighten it up a bit

A junk shop, church/village hall auction and worst of all a second hand book shop. I strictly ration my visits to all, although our solution to the junkshop/auction habit has been to start a hobby antiques stall which we take to three or four big antique fairs a year to sell what we have bought. The big advantage being that what we sell finances what we buy.
