Went to a little ones party recently, enjoyed mandarin oranges set in lemon jelly, oh my lord I am now hooked!! Verging on obsessed really so simple if full of sugar, too easy to wolf down in a cup watching tv, so what about you, have you any little delicacies, odd or not, that you can't resist?
Also disgraceful quantities of milk or sickly white chocolate, plain crisps and chocolate eclairs. Not at the same time, I should add. And these indulgences are no longer a reality because I'm eating very healthily these days.....
Mr Kipling fondant fancies....mashed potatoes with butter and pepper.....crumpets oozing butter....yes to jelly too....icecream with whipped cream on top....walnut whips by the boxful..... Cadburys creme eggs ditto.... Smarties ditto.....
Not jelly for me - have never been able to stand the consistency. In half an hour my morning coffee will be accompanied by a triangle of the bar of Milka chocolate we bought at the airport - it has a layer of milk choice, when a white layer and is topped with dark chocoalte triangles.
Thick sliced white bread with Lurpak butter..topped with home cooked ham and plain crisps and another slice of buttered bread...only bettered by leaving off the crisps and adding red hot chips....but Marmite..yuk never...
I've been making 'goldfish' jelly for years . And it's always the choice of dessert after a huge Christmas dinner, as its light and refreshing. But what I want to know is why I can't find tangerine flavoured jelly anymore. That was always the preferred flavour with the mandarins.
My kids used to like my very fancy traffic light pudding. Red jelly at the bottom, custard in the middle and green jelly mixed with seived stewed apple on the top. If you can make the see through basins tilt while it is all setting it looks even more fancy!! (That is about as fancy as my cooking gets.)
Sweet potato, mashed with coconut oil and cinnamon. Brie and grape sandwich - either a crusty baguette or freshly baked farmhouse white bread. Cheddar cheese and Ritz biscuit sandwich. And try this one, really lush: mashed up corned beef, crushed ready salted crisps and salad cream, mixed together and spread between two slices of white bread
