Ant and Dec- will it now be just Dec? Celebrity gossip alert

The rush to rehab is the best move, the press can't hound him , if he was over the limit he will be charged

If I saw a photo I would know which was who. They always stand in the same place. So it's alphabetical. From left to right, Ant and Dec.

Some people it seems can deal with fame and fortune whilst others can't. Sad.

I've never watched them either, but can tell which is which. Brownie points, eh!

I wonder why, when celebrities have worked so hard to get to the peak of their career, do they then begin to fall apart with drinks and/or drugs? Ant McPartlan isn't the first one to ruin his career in this way, Michael Barrymore and others went before him. But why? Just when they appear to have it all; fame, money, a supposed dream lifestyle, they ruin themselves withdrink and drugs and it all comes crashing down. Maybe fame and fortune isnt all it's cracked up to be.

As far as I am concerned it is another drunk driver who should have the book thrown at him, and possibly the bookcase too. The”wholesome cheeky chappie ” persona does not sit well with the fact that he could have destroyed innocent lives.

It is Dec I feel sorry for, he has just had his career bombed on from a great height through no fault of his own.
I don't watch their programme or that celebrity thing in Australia but DC used to like Byker Grove.

He was drunk driving he should be charged like everyone else would be perhaps a few weeks inside would cure his ‘addiction’ I ve no sympathy at all I m afraid
I feel for people with true addictions but people with his money could have had as much help as they needed from day one it’s a hug excuse just like was it Michael Douglas had a ‘sex addiction’ no he was just a greedy so and so

I, too, have never had any inclination to watch Ant and Dec, and have no sympathy with anyone who drinks and drives.

My understanding is that his alcoholism goes hand in hand with a painkiller addiction. Apparently he is in chronic pain due to a knee op which went wrong. I imagine both addictions, coupled with his depression will be very hard to ‘kick’. That been said excusing is enabling, and I struggle with the fact that he got behind the wheel at all. I too found the interview given by the girls parents odd, I’m not sure if it had been my child my immediate thought the next day would have been to talk to the papers. But then I suppose that is the way of the world now. There are forever pictures on Facebook etc if children visiting a&e or spending the night in hospital. I’m not sure why their parents post those either.

I wondered that too Marydoll why on earth did his mother not stop him driving. The amount of damage suggests Ant was speeding as well. Driving under the influence of alcohol is never acceptable, thank goodness the outcome was not more serious.

I know who they are as they seem to be on tv a lot but still don’t know which is which.
Drinking and driving is never acceptable, definitely not these days.
In my youth, ( 60’s) everyone drank and then got into their cars, or motor bikes and scooters (no helmets worn those days) and drove merrily off home. Terrifying.

Beau, what on earth do you mean, to suggest the people in the other car were 'cashing in'.
Ant was drunk. He lost control of his car and smashed into their car. The photographs of both cars show fairly extensive damage so it suggests he wasn't driving slowly. He is entirely responsible for this accident, will definitely lose his licence and if he's unlucky could go to prison. Good. Anyone who drives under the influence of alcohol must face serious penalties, who ever they are.

At the end of the day...he is a "Drunk driver" I have no sympathy with him.

I do feel for anyone who has an addiction. It can ruin lives so easily.

My reaction when it came on the news was that it seems strange that his mum let him drive if she knew he was over the limit, but its still very much the norm in some circles to have a couple of glasses of wine with a leisurely lunch and then drive home.

If he was drinking before driving, why did his mother, who was also in the car, not try to stop him? If it was my son, I would have taken the keys from him.
Perhaps she didn't know.
It's a sad situation for all concerned.

Sadly alcohol blights many lives.

I would have said their careers were over (Dec would not be accepted without Ant, they are so much a double act) BUT the family in the other car gave such a peculiar interview to the Mail online yesterday that now I'm not sure, people were supporting Ant and saying he hadn't been charged yet etc. The 4 year old (not 3 year old) child was taken to hospital by the parents as a precaution, not rushed to hospital by ambulance - the whole incident seems a bit murky and the people in the other car 'cashing in' on it so we'll have to wait and see the truth unfold. As a rule, drinking and driving is completely unacceptable to the public so if Ant is charged then this incident is possibly the end for Ant and Dec.

From what I've read, it seems alcohol has always been a huge part of his adult life. I think it would be very hard to give up, as his whole way of life and socialising, friends he sees, and his idea of fun would have to drastically change. Very hard to do I think.

He's actually very lucky that crash didn't have a worse outcome, thank goodness all were fairly ok.

I feel sorry for both of them though I am cynical about the rush to rehab by celebrities who are caught out.
