The tears are forming. Those wonderful mums, full of love and happy, happy children. I send warmest thoughts and wishes though to all those mums and dads for whom it isn't so happy and is life changing.
What a lovely video! Downs children are so full of fun, and so cheeky. A really special group of people. I once worked with a Down's boy, teaching him to read. One day I went to a local ladies meeting and he was there. He said: "Ladies, I present to you, Mrs. F. ." Everyone burst out laughing of course. But they can also sometimes have severe physical problems.
one of my daughters friends and her wee boy are on this video, lovely family and he's a joy and a delight .Different times thank goodness from when I was young and Downs children were called mongols and for the most hidden away and not expected to live past their teens .In fact I well remember being urged to run when my friend and I encountered a downs boy at the shops as we'd never come across one out on his own and she was terrified .We would have been about 7 .
My sister's nephew was born with DS. His father could not accept him at first and there was talk of him being sent to an institution. It caused great upset in my BiL family at the time. Fortunately his father was talked round. He was always a very affectionate child but could sometimes get carried away with his 'bear hugs' He is in his 40s now and has lived a happy life in sheltered accommodation since his teens. I often see him out and about with another DS man about the same age.
I've watched it a few times now and people who know me would be surprised to hear that I even watched it once! Its lovely and I really don't understand what kind of people they are who would give it a thumbs down on youtube.
Beautiful song choice, beautiful beautiful idea and video, such love in world that can often seem full of misery. The lady who thought of doing it had a beautiful idea and it brings such a lovely joyous feeling just watching it.
