I have a GS named James with a younger sister named Charlotte. I also have an Alfie and a Bobby ( Robert) named after his father who is called Robert. The other 2 have modern names.
Oh charleygirl I m with you, no disrespect to anyone with dads brothers granddads etc but can’t stand Albert Alfred’s and all those old men names he’s a baby then a child then will be a young man in another 20 odd years I do hope they don’t lumber him with an old traditional name but I expect they will Philip or is her dad Michael ? or Richard are a bit better
It's up to the Queen to give her approval hence the delay is not theirs. Can't imagine her not approving any name they put forward so maybe we will know today. My vote is something long with multiple names of Phillip William Albert Charles and they end up calling him ...little bean or Allie, Wills...
Our St George's day baby is Frederick Edward. I think the royal family will stick to traditional names, I guessed the names of George and Charlotte before it was announced but really don't know this time. Unlikely that he will be king so probably not that important.
absent, I have a small bet on John, at 100 to 1. It was out there with Wayne when I put the bet on, and when I mentioned it on other threads the feedback has been that it won't ever be revived, because of the bad record of the only King John we've had. Of course every King George, William, Charles and James has been beyond reproach! You can still get 50 to 1 if you're quick.
The most recent Prince John was the child with epilepsy Maggiemaybe and hidden away on the Sandringham Estate; in those days would have been thought of as something shameful I presume , although it appears that he had a happy life.
It would be a nice tribute to the poor little boy if the baby is called John. It wasn't his fault he was ill and it would be daft to think the name brings bad luck.
William was named after William of Gloucester who died piloting his plane in an air race. You don't get much unluckier than that.
