Is Prince William thinking of Victoria and Albert who provided the nation with 'nine' heirs to the throne?

As an English expatriate having lived in Melbourne for 47 years, I was thrilled to hear we have a new Prince, as yet un-named.
Sixth in line, eh! The queue's getting longer by the day and will (soon?) be even longer when Harry and Merkel start doing their stuff.
Poor Harry; bumped out of 6th. spot.
Just wonder how long the new one will have to wait before ascending the throne?
Realising I'm not immortal (after all), I'll have to miss that one.
As a loyal subject, I bow my knee and wish them all well.
So long as they promise to displace TV coverage of the forthcoming Aussie Rules football season. Awful!.
Incidentally, were any Gransnetters present in the welcoming crowd outside the hospital when the new Prince emerged?
I'd love to read postings about their experiences; how they felt, etc.
The media down here are going to "go bananas" for months , if not years. Talk about TV coverage, waiting breathlessly for his first smile, first burp, first this and that!
Waiting for the next bulletin.!

I sincerely hope they don't call the new Prince froglet Albert, as has been rumoured.
Prince Bert? I don't think so......
Well I've certainly seen enough of her. For our sins, we buy the Daily Mail at weekends as I like their magazines. For the last two weekends their magazines and the newspaper itself have had page after page of Meghan stories and pictures. Talk about overkill.

I wish I could bend the knee as easily as you.
I don’t think the public have seen enough or know enough of Meghan to make up their minds, but as an actress it will help her to come across as ‘nice, and natural’ even if she is the polar opposite.
Camilla came across as a very warm compassionate but no-nonsense woman with a genuine sense of humour. When she was asked about hosting her Christmas do’s for seriously ill/handicapped children and their parents and she replied “I go and have a good cry” I felt here was a real woman, mother and grandmother.
Let’s not be too hard on Meghan Markle. Apart from being American and divorced (once, Wallis Simpson was divorced twice) as far as I can see the resemblance stops there.
Have you read Anne Sebba’s biography of Wallis Simpson “That Woman”?
It is very interesting both about her and the mores of the time.
I agree with Teddy123 about the programme about the Duchess of Cornwall being much more interesting.
However, yes, it was nice to see another sibling in what could be a rather strange upbringing for Royal children whose every outside contact and playmate risks coming under scruitiny. The news of more Royal cousins on the way is good too in those circumstances.
I don't know whether it was deliberate, but some news channels were showing the ultra-excited people (some of them seeming a bit forced for some reason) at the hospital right before or after the clips showing that more people than ever are having to go to foodbanks for basics like toothpaste which they can't afford for their kids.
I was thinking more of her being induced at home ( she did apparently have a team of 20+ ) then a swift dash to her “wing” and Bob’s your uncle or Alberts your prince.
I was fascinated to see that Duchess Kate was wearing high heels just hours after the birth of the new Prince. I had easy natural births with my babies...but my legs were pretty wobbly for a while!
If Meghan's playing a part, good for her! I thought from the start that being an actress may be very useful in her new life.
If she can keep the part she needs to play in the public eye separate from the person she really is; the person that Harry fell for; a person we do not see or know; then that may be one of the best ways of coping with the pressure younger members of the royal family are put under.
I confess to not being particularly interested in the latest addition apart from "oh a healthy baby boy, nice".
What I did find interesting was the documentary on Camilla, my thoughts being "lovely natural lady".
Meghan ..... Wish she would stop constantly fiddling with her hair and just shove those long bits behind her ears and leave them there! I share her hair fiddling habit and am determined to stop!
Iam 64 well said. I have to say that as a very patriotic English woman I was very happy when one of my grandchildren was born on St George's Day....
gillybob, only if it was c section, tbf I couldn't care less I was more excited when my grandchildren were born
BlueBelle; Sorry! I've obviously upset you, and as an Englishman and a Gentleman I sincerely apologise.
I said I was on bended knee so expect the Royal Sword to smite anytime now. Even St. George might come after me.
My source of lineage info obviously can't count and my descriptor, "Merkel" might be due to a misplaced subliminal between Windsor and Germany.
No disrespect was intended. It won't happen again. Promise!
Please feel free to correct any other errors you may stumble across.
For now I'll pull .my head in and disappear down my bolt-hole!

Is it just me who thinks it was very convenient that the baby was born on St George’s day ? My cynical mind wonders if it was part of the grand plan?
I'm scratching my head over whether or not Diana would have really got on with a successful confident, glamorous, touchy feely American actress?
Iam64 exactly, and very well said from me too
Well said, Iam. I was going to write something similar and now you have done it for me. I somehow think that Diana would have got on well with Meghan.
Wonderful news for Kate and William, an uncomplicated birth and a healthy baby to join their family.
Who could have imagined when they were born, that one of Charles's sons would marry a young woman he met at university. The other would marry a young woman who had been divorced, is of dual heritage, has an established career in acting as well as being recognised as a woman involved in humanitarian issues. Watching Harry and Meghan arrive at the service to commemorate the death of Steven Lawrence was moving imo. A young woman whose is of white US and black slave ancestry marrying into the British royal family - reflects the way life is changing for the better.
Every time I see Meghan Markle I see a modern day Wallis Simpson.
Not that it matters a jot.
With you Annsixty , I think the same
I must say I don’t take to Meghan. Beautiful, yes, but slightly vulgar, too showbizzy. I understand that Harry’s in love with her, but if it lasts a lifetime I’ll be very surprised.
annsixty you have voiced my sneaky suspicion. She probably just needs time to adjust. I do think she needs to find her own style and that may take a bit of time and some not so good outfits.
I like the look of Megan, maybe the fact that she is very confident grates on some, Harry certainly looks extremely happy, what’s not to like? Love her sense of style, hope being “royal” doesn’t turn her frumpish, doubt it haha ?
I'm sad to say but the more I see of Meghan, the more I think she is playing a part.
I do hope not for Harry's sake.
