I want to unsubcribe from your site how do I do this please

I deleted my Facebook account too panache. I wondered why it took two weeks though. Perhaps it's some sort of cooling off period!

Whilst it is child`s play to mainly subscribe initially, some of these sites are a tartar to close down.
For me the greatest offender has been F/B.It really took some patience and a lotta help from well meaning people to finally close that door for good.

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is scheduled to become law in the UK on 25th May next. As I understand it, the GDPR tightens up the law on data handling and requires, among many other things, the right to opt out of email marketing campaigns. Non compliance can result in large fines. You should start to see changes in the way your email address is used only with your permission for marketing purposes in future. Companies that refuse to honour your opt out (unsubscribe) request will do so at their peril.

I tried to unsubscribe from allfreeknitting yesterday and used the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page. It informed me that the link was not working. I gave up.

I have had no end of trouble trying to unsubscribe from various websites. What really annoys me is that with some craft magazine sites, once subscribed they then sign you up to their sister sites, and flood your inbox with individual newsletters from all of them, grrrr.
I keep a record now, on a spreadsheet, of all the repeated times I try to unsubscribe, with the intention of emailing the worst offenders and demanding they take me off their mailing list.

Auntieflo, I found a "contact us" link somewhere on the site and there is a box for sending a message. As I said, it took 3 emails but it did work.

I have just tried to unsubscribe from a site that I never asked to be on.I have been told that my connection is not safe and my details may be stolen so it looks like stalemate and I will just have to continue deleting the emails.

Thanks all for your input. I'm glad I'm not the only one with difficulties. Having tried their Unsubscribe button, it just takes you on a roundabout route, and you end up where you were . HildaJJ I shall try the stern emails.

I had this problem with Hawkins Bazaar. I unsubscribed monthly for several years. They have now gone into liquidation, which has finally solved the problem!

Yes, I had problems unsubscribing from a general craft site. The reason I had to unsubscribe was that I was being bombarded with craft adverts from them on other sites and the emails were a pain. Unfortunately one couldn't look at even simple instructions for something without signing up for the craft site and I did find it useful for a couple of things, but the intrusion was not worth it. It did stop eventually.

I had a lot of bother unsubscribing from AllfreeCrochet too! I unticked all the boxes as they asked and clicked the unsubscribe button. When that didn't work, I sent an email to them. In fact I sent three emails, each a little more strongly worded than the last. They unsubscribed me after the last email. You just have to be persistent.

I have always found that unsubscribe has worked - perhaps it depends on the website.

As a rule unsubscribing does not work, it just confirms to the website that you have an active address.
Set up your inbox so that unwanted emails go straight to a folder and then delete unread.

At the bottom of the email (in very small print) there should be the word unsubscribe click on that and it should do the trick.
