Are you saying your friend has always “treated you” to something ? ( a gift, a meal out or whatever) and has now stopped . Could it be that your friend can no longer afford to spend money on you or maybe her family have cottoned on that she is spending money on you on a regulars basis . It all sounds a bit odd to be honest .

All sounds a bit odd to me too, maybe she is waiting for you to reciprocate her generosity.

maybe you should offer to treat her for a change ,she may feel she's being taken for granted ..or for a fool .

Have you asked her? Take HER out for a change and say it is because she has treated you every month for such a long time, and you thought it was your turn. Maybe she will tell you why she has stopped.

I too am puzzled, but I suspect this wasn't one-sided - otherwise it would be obvious! It may not have been turn-taking exactly - I am thinking of thanks for a favour. Such as allowing someone to park on your drive every night, or providing a regular coffee stop, may then 'treat' you regularly to say thank you.
JWs as a whole don't attempt to control the congregation's money, but being a member may place certain obligations that the friend is finding awkward.

Sorry if I'm wrong but it seems you expect this. Why else would you query her stopping after "treating you every month for years"

Depends what you mean by treating you? Why would her religion have anything to do with it either? It could be that at 82 she may be having some health problems and worrying that she might need her money for the future?

And I wondered too, particularly as a bit earlier my first thought on seeing another thread called, "Are there any groups of people you always avoid?" had been that it seemed an invitation to discriminate on divisive grounds (like religion).

I almost get where the OP is coming from.
I have a friend who once came into some money and at the time was very generous to members of my family. Subsequently she's fallen on hard times and ekes out a living from her small income, so when we get together I almost always invite her to lunch and I pay. My friend always offers, never takes it for granted that I will pay, but it's my way of supporting her at the same time as showing her how much I value her friendship - we joke that if she wins the lottery she'll treat me back. If I suddenly stopped I suspect she would wonder why. (Although in our case I think she would ask me if everything is okay and/or I would simply tell her why I could no longer do it.) So I do wonder why you don't just ask your friend if everything is okay financially and offer to help if it's not.

It seems the OP is most concerned that her friend is no longer "treating" her and may be giving her money to her church instead.

Seems like they are not that close friends or poster would have asked if her friend was ok financially and not be asking us It sounds a very one sided friendship with financial expectations unless Kristine comes back and explains more to us

The two most obvious explanations are that money is getting a bit tighter for your friend or that she is tired of the one way treating but doesn't want to say this to you directly. Why would you think that her religious affiliation was the most likely explanation? As others have said maybe time for things to be more reciprocal.

She also doesn’t tell us what ‘treating’ her means ....a cup of coffee, a meal out, a visit to the theatre, or a handout every month ?
