Fish! OH doesn’t like the taste or the smell! He’s currently away so last night for dinner I had home made fish pie and a couple of delicious gin and tonics!

I buy myself a pork chop grin husband doesn't do pork, or chops for that matter and I make sure I have a couple of glasses of wine with it.

My husband does the catering and he always provides just the right meal for me should I be left on my own meal times.

Yet for himself on those rare occasions when he is on his own, he is guilty of binging on the things he likes best.
Invariably pies, frozen meals and nearly always, if remotely possible, he has to have chips!!!

Cheese on toast, grilled, topped with pickled beetroot, scrummy.

My husband usually leaves me something ready. If not its a bacon sandwich or soup.

OH chooses to have fish and chips each Friday. I don't like it so usually have either boiled eggs with Marmite soldiers or a mixed salad with strong cheddar cheese.

I live on my own and follow a very healthy diet. Just had my porridge, with blueberries in Almond milk and it was lovely. I enjoy preparing and cooking my own food. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Low carb, low fat and try to restrict sugar. Recently I’ve taken to reducing my meat consumption and have really enjoyed testing my will to try and follow a vegetarian diet. Bacon could well be my downfall though.

DH left at 7am to go to a football match so for my breakfast I have just had some American style pancakes I made a while ago and put in the freezer. I know he wouldn't want them so I had them with banana and maple syrup. Delicious.

I live alone so it’s nearly always cooking for one. I have salmon once or twice a week with some variety of Tilda rice (half a packet) and greens of some sort. I also eat fish fingers and sometimes make my own fish cakes with tinned tuna. Also I often make a sauce using a carton of chopped tomatos and beans eg tomatoes with chilli and garlic with kidney beans makes chilli con carne or tomatos with onion and basil with lentils for a vegetarian spagbol - I add my own herbs/seasoning and mushrooms/peppers if I have them. Have also just discovered that you can buy frozen chopped onions, carrots and celery which will lead to lots of very easy, quick recipes ( I cook onions etc in the microwave with bits of butter dotted over) before adding to the tomatos. I also often make a soup with lots of onions and greens and herbs, using an organic chicken stock cube, once cooked I whizz it and add chickpeas. Eat it with a dollop of yogurt - very good for colds and flu. But I also eat some ready meals -I try to find the most healthy options, and love the occasional Higgedy chicken, ham and leek pie, and often treat myself to a thin crust pizza on a Saturday. Another favourite is a salad with cold brown lentils or couscous with added chopped salad/fruit. I’m lazy and not into cooking - anything that takes more than 15 minutes to put together doesn’t happen!

Anything quick and easy to hand stir fry, jacket potato, home made veggie soup it’s pretty boring eating alone so I go out to lots of lunches with friends

Almost always fish of some description. He hates it, I love it. I usually have sea bass fillets or a home made fish pie in the freezer, so they are my go to.

I'm sure if I lived alone I'd make an effort to eat healthily, cook proper food and freeze some, etc.

But as things stand, if DH is away for the day I tend to treat myself and just graze on whatever I fancy. Crusty bread with houmous and cheese would normally feature, nuts and raisins, lots of fruit, Heinz tomato soup (love it), fishfinger sandwiches with lashings of vinegar, a bowl of mussels and prawns from the freezer. When I fancied something sweet some Greek yoghurt with sugar and whatever's in the DGS's treat tin. blush I might throw in some carrot and celery sticks for the good of my health.

Today was typical of what I like to eat on my own: jacket potato with cottage cheese, beetroot and salad cream - yum!

Much the same as for more than one - only I know I do not need to have anything I do not really like.
I live by myself, but see no reason not to eat well and healthily because of that, so a normal day would mean brekkie in the morning, (porridge with extra blueberries and large mug of tea,
Lunch is usually something with eggs, (I do adore eggs in most forms, but specially soft boiled/poached) so likely to have toast with some baked beans and poached eggs - using toaster and microwave, this meal would take me something under four minutes to make - also large mug of tea.
Evening meal - I use my electric steamer so have four or five different (from the freezer) veg, with potatoes and usually a ;piece of fish cooked in the halogen oven, or else a salad with either rice or pasta and fish. Glass of water to drink.
Cooking for one is the same as cooking for two or three. When I do have company for the evening meal, I usually cook enough for us all plus extra that I can freeze as individual portions for when I feel like something different

I cannot be bothered cooking very day but what I do is eg cook spag bol this evening, have a portion tonight and tomorrow and freeze whatever is left over.

A couple of nights ago I fancied something different so bought fresh bread and small pieces of different cheeses and had grapes and other fruit. I never have a takeaway but occasionally if I cannot be bothered cooking I will buy something microwavable like macaroni cheese which I adore.

Dh is away for the weekend and I'm having a previously frozen curry and a bought rice.

I realise some of you are on your own all the time but i usually cook for 2.
