Just read a new thread on 'Relationships' and it just seemed strange seeing SO MANY posts with names I've never see before! hmm ..me being bit paranoid??
I was always the mum at the school gate who depended on the rest to tell me what was going on ) Me too MaizieD - and I miss my young neighbour who always knew the latest gossip news!
I'm usually 'out of the loop' too
However, I did notice a recent thread about being allowed to choose another user name if we wanted to discuss something sensitive on GN.
I am fairly new, Joined about two months ago. MN did not exist when my children were young and I have never looked at it.
I have sometimes thought GN is a bit cliquey, so am glad to see a welcome to newcomers. I have four grandchildren aged between 10 and 16, who live not too far away, and a step grandchild who is three but lives a long way away.
You're not alone there, Merlotgran. I do this a lot! I'm a very very old GN and loads of different names have come and gone, and lots of new ones lately in particular. I just carry on regardless.
Yes, I welcome new GNs too! Just want to point out that you don't have to be a gran. I'm not and I know there are lots of other non grans who just enjoy the site.
As for the phony posters - I like trying to spot them
It’s lovely to welcome new posters or old ones back under another name. It does make it more difficult for those of us who suffer from little brain syndrome to remember who everyone is. Most of ‘our’ names mean something to the poster but are just gobbledygook to the rest of us. If I can’t pronounce it I can’t remember it! ?
I'm new here too! My granddaughter is just over a year old. She's my first and may end up being my only. I adore her. I was recommended this site by a Facebook friend. So far it hasn't disappointed!
I’m new here, and my grandsons are a month old today. ? I’m sure from time to time I’ll raise a topic that may have already been done to death, but I’m not reading every thread just to check. I’ll mainly be lurking in chat anyway.
I quite like the daft school holiday posts BlueBelle, they're always so predictable in their format and elicit some really witty replies from regular posters that make me laugh out loud!
Thanks BlueBelle - now that you mention it, I did see the foreign girlfriend one which was written in a strange style and I remember being curious about the age of the writer. ?
Beau there were three on today, I believe removed or run off the page We often get bored kids (we presume) who like to ask fairly silly questions for their amusements we had a spate of cheap school uniform threads, then gay boys in onesies and fake uggs and then there’s the ‘teacher’ who won’t allow her pupils go to the toilet To day it was Thai brides and foreign girlfriends You ll get used to them as weeks and months go by
I hope I'm not the only one who sometimes reads a post and decides to google the subject. I go to google, forget what I'm supposed to be googling and have to go back and look again
Gransnet is a good place to be. Sometimes unkind remarks get into posts and GNHQ step in. After all we don't know other posters' situations and some people are more secure than others. Welcome to anyone who considers themself a newbie, we were all one once! Also you don't have to be a gran to post!
I’m fairly new. Was never a MN member - too busy at that stage of my life. What I value on GN is the perspective on life of other women of my age - the similar work or family problems we’ve been through, the long view of politics and so on. I’m prob too naive to recognise spoof threads (on what sorts of things? Why school uniforms?). As for deliberate winding up, silly and pointless if it happens. GN members were 36 one day; MN members will be 96 one day and someone else will be mocking them....
