Had to laugh at the line "Adam spent £10 on a leopard skin dress at a local supermarket"

Is it 'elf n' safety gone mad again ?

I hope that they are cool, safe and comfortable but it has to said that they look ridiculous.

Bobdoesit Fri 15-Jun-18 15:17:54

That made me laugh, thank you!

Health and safety seems to be very selective.
Gale force winds yesterday and on the building site behind us , work as usual. Lowering roof trusses onto roof by crane, laying roofing felt and laying roof tiles , was expecting to see a work man flying by. Pile of huge insulation blocks gradually shifting eastward, was expecting them to end up in my neighbours garden.
So how can wearing shorts be more unsafe than that?

MaryXYX Thu 14-Jun-18 18:04:42

If long trousers are required for safety reasons, then skirts would not be allowed. The women who were wearing skirts were in office type jobs.

Apart from that, who complains at a woman wearing trousers these days? (I used to belong to a church that didn't allow it.) So why shouldn't a man wear a skirt?

Ha ha ! love it ! wonder how many non-PC wolf whistles they got ???? grin

Anniebach Thu 14-Jun-18 15:31:10

Did one wear trainers ?

They looked amusing but I wouldn’t have allowed it.

Sheilasue Thu 14-Jun-18 14:51:16

Just read the link, did make me laugh, think that’s great.
Still got to wear the boots though.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 14-Jun-18 13:34:16

From my point of view there is nothing more off putting than hairy legs ? showing beneath a skirt or dress.

grandtanteJE65 Thu 14-Jun-18 13:12:36

Actually, if shorts are banned for male workers then they ought to turn up in kilts. These cannot be banned, especially in the UK, as the ban on wearing kilts, highland dress or clan tartan that came into force after the Highland massacres was repealed ages ago. Nowadays, quite a lot of younger Scotsmen wear kilts in other kinds of cloth than a clan tartan.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry about the builders' underwear if they are in skirts - anything is better than the inelegantly named butt crack displayed by so many men in trousers if they bend over or kneel down.

'Women have always had the choice of dressing in whichever way they liked'. No, they really have not.

Could be the solution to the workman’s bum situations ??

123kitty Thu 14-Jun-18 10:41:41

What a great way to deal with a silly problem, laugh and enjoy life when you can. Good job this wasn't in the DM where it would no doubt have been taken as a serious issue, covered in at least three separate articles.

Good for them...although got to say wouldn't want the view from the bottom of the scaffolding lol.
Boys in general are more in touch with their feminine side, including one of my son's who has his eyebrows waxed (saying that they can be quite thick and bushy without)
My dad would spin in his grave....in his day 'men were men'

Theoddbird Thu 14-Jun-18 09:58:31

Well done these guys...brilliant. I remember a young lad doing the same at school as they could not wear shorts in the hot weather...

Blinko Thu 14-Jun-18 09:03:00

JustALaugh, looks like here's the solution...if they dare!

JustALaugh Wed 13-Jun-18 23:39:43

Good for them. My son works in an office at eon and has to wear a shirt and smart trousers. He and some of the other men at work asked if they could wear shorts (Chino-type ones, which are knee length). They were told no. The employees there do not deal with the public, don't see anyone face-to-face at all, and are not on view (the department is on the 5th floor). It's really not fair at all.

? excellent!

Blinko Wed 13-Jun-18 17:53:14

Love it! Great idea. grin

Fennel Wed 13-Jun-18 17:28:30

Excellent idea. What about kilts? And arab robes?

sodapop Wed 13-Jun-18 17:22:40

Brilliant, totally agree stella1949

Squiffy Wed 13-Jun-18 15:37:28

Good for them! Making a stand and not skirting around the issue grin

Sorry, couldn’t resist it blush

Teetime Wed 13-Jun-18 14:57:08

Wonderful good for them must have been a really fun day at work.

gillybob Wed 13-Jun-18 14:41:34

I do hope Adam and his friends are wearing suitable underwear so as not to show a VPL shock

stella1949 Wed 13-Jun-18 14:12:26

Good for them. Women have always had the choice of dressing in whichever way they liked - its time men had the same options.
