Forget to label leftovers before freezing (husband...!)

Enjoy exciting game of “What Is This, It Doesn’t Smell Like Bolognese, Are Those Bits Of Potato In It, Can We Eat This With Pasta” when rooting through freezer for months afterwards

When I was a student I had an evening job stacking shelves in a supermarket. There were a surprising amount of tins missing labels. They use to sell a carrier bag of these for 50p to staff, had some interesting finds with that one !.

Hopes dashed when looking forward to a steaming bowl of leek and potato soup from the freezer. Stewed apple doesn't quite cut it.

Oh this made me laugh..defrosted some mashed potatoes....NO I didn't.... cheese sauce... lesson learnt... LABEL!!! always!!

Not quite a freezer thing, but friends were living in a caravan/mobile home while building a house.

Their (then) toddler amused herself by peeling all the labels from the tinned food in the cupboard

No idea what was baked beans, tinned peaches, tomatoes, you name it!

They did invent a good game though, called "shake it and guess" however despite the entertainment value, it didn't always lead to what might be called a balanced meal.

Is Ready Steady Cook still on telly? We could donate a bag of weird stuff found in the back of GN larders - odd jars of heaven knows what from the Hampers of Christmas Past. See what you can do with that Ainsley Harriott!

DH said his drink tasted a bit weird. He'd used the ice cubes that I'd bagged up in the freezer. What he didn't know, though, was that I had frozen some whey from straining home made yoghurt. "I thought they were a strange colour" he said

Chicken curry and beef curry look the same when frozen and, to be honest, taste ok when stirred up together and re-heated!

This has made me laugh. The one I tend to do is defrost cooked apple when I want chicken stock.

A frozen apple tart when put straight into the oven and reheated does not go well with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Apple pie and chips is not great either. Know your pie!

Me too with the labelling (or lack of ) some frozen beef once defrosted magically turned into slices of Christmas pudding.

Always securely mark frozen items. Frozen gravy may look similar seen through an opaque box but it is not bolognese sauce

C'mon. This is one of my favourite games when I've been snowed in for a couple of weeks and supplies are running low. What can I make from the weird combo of items that have been in the larder since 2008? Jammy Pasta! What's not to like?

Nor eat Onion Marmalade on toast.
