Great news Maw smile Good luck with the birthing pool Kitty ! , prayers for Panache.
Ann Are you sure you can cope , even after the break it will be very hard work , please think of yourself xxx

soop Wed 05-Sept-18 17:38:46

N&G Law enforcement at it's best. Go...Grampy Go...Sam. Don't be too late for tea. smile

Ann, on your behalf, I am really fed up with those dopey social workers. Now I am concerned about how it's going to pan out when H is due to come home on the 17th. The SWs should take into account the needs of and intolerable pressure on the carer. If that isn't in their job description, then it should be. Meanwhile, make the most of YOUR respite at home and in Ibiza. xx

NanaandGrampy Wed 05-Sept-18 16:46:56

Evening all !

Sorry to see there is no news of Panache . Hopefully no news is good news !

morethan sorry to hear things are not going well at the moment, hopefully this is a blip!

Ooooh Maw wonderous news !! We do like a new baby in the kitchen , although Kitty it sounds like we might to make room here for the birthing pool !!!How exciting !!!!

Grampy is off doing his first stint with the speed gun for the Community Speed Watch !! Sam is the official speed watch dog in case a canine arrest is needed !!

Other than that all is peaceful here in fact I am getting a touch too lazy so I am off to make Asian Chilli Jam , ill leave some when its done, its delicious with strong cheese !!

ChaosIncorporated Wed 05-Sept-18 16:34:27

Just popping in to check sad

kitty ... that did make me smile. I do hope you are not required to do any late night dashes!! I would be panicking, I think.

Have a pleasant evening everyone. I am off to indulge in some of the ice cream on offer.

soop Wed 05-Sept-18 15:45:08

kitty grin

kittylester Wed 05-Sept-18 15:17:00

I have also popped in for a check on Panache.

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter isn't doing so well, morethan. Sending healing vibes in her direction. Rant to us if it helps!!

Brilliant news Maw.

We had a phone call from DD3 who is 36 weeks pregnant this morning. She said she has been been having twinges and, as their kitchen is being removed next week she might have to come here to stay. We said that was ok but refused to house the birthing pool!! shock

Back later - after my pedicure!!

annsixty Wed 05-Sept-18 15:12:51

Good afternoon.
Just back from a pub lunch with a friend, it was enjoyable and relaxing and I don't have to cook tonight, hooray
I have spoken to a third duty social worker, and the second one who has been given completely the wrong facts, it is so frustrating.
She was under the impression that my H had gone into the care home as an emergency and I had said I couldnt cope with him coming home.
I put her straight and have said I will fetch him home on the appointed day, September 17th and see if he and I can cope.
I want a review and assessment as soon as possible after that date.
We both might be calmer after a break, we shall see.
It has been a lovely day but thoughts are with Panache and morethan and her family.

soop Wed 05-Sept-18 14:41:37

Afternoon greetings dear peoples. Ironing job done. Home to have a belated breakfast and lashings of coffee.

I left our computer on throughout the night. First thing, I checked for news of Panache. My first though on returning home, was to check yet again.

Marydoll I too am very concerned. Perhaps, before the day is through, we may have better news. You lot will be the first to know.

I'm also sorry to hear that Morethan's daughter-in-law is once again going through a very difficult time. If I had just one wish...it would be that I could be the bearer of healing vibes.

ann I am wearing a huge smile having read your recent post.

Galen please send some of that ice cream to the Kintyre peninsula. When do you go sailing the high seas? Have you packed the pearls? Izabella and some of your ice cream, too. Please.

Maw happy news. smile

ChaosInc My thoughts are with you and the lovely Lola. flowers

I apologise if I've missed messaging some of our Granspals who have been in the kitchen since yesterday. It's a bit hectic hereabouts. wink

NanKate Wed 05-Sept-18 12:13:37

I've just popped in to see if there is any news of Panache - what a worry for her husband and all of us who have enjoyed her contributions to GN.

So sorry Morethan to hear the news of your DinL. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Galen Wed 05-Sept-18 10:53:51

I make a great peach ice cream with amoretto in it

Izabella Wed 05-Sept-18 08:32:59

Morning everyone. Thoughts and a hope for better times for all who are struggling and congratulations for those with good news. Ann your lovely comments about youngsters is a joy to read. So many get bad press the days so to read your words is uplifting - as the girls are to you too. Enjoy your time together.

What a beatiful sight outside this morning. From early hours golden sunshine enhancing the gold on the leaves. Also a heavy dew here adding another level of sparkle and magic. All this beneath clear blue skies.

Home made vanilla ice cream has been left in the freezer in the kitchen, so help yourself. All proper ingredients as I got increasingly annoyed about the rubbish put in commercial products. The difference is amazing and we all had exploding taste buds last night. I shall try a strawberry one next and serve with shavings of good chocolate.

The return of this beautiful weather is accompanied by my usual restlessness so I may venture out into the peaks on the mountain bike. I shall check the water levels in the "res"

Gagagran Wed 05-Sept-18 08:11:58

morethan what a worrying time for you and especially for your DiL. Life just doesn't seem fair and all we can do is KBO. Thinking of you and wishing you strength to get through whatever lies ahead, flowers

Fingers and toes and everything else crossed for your DD Maw. It is heartening to realise that there is some good news for us to share. Let's hope March brings a new little person into your loving family, safely.

Marydoll I can't quite credit your 31 years in the same hotel in Rome! Is there a family connection or do you just love it?

Ann I am so glad you are having some fun and pleasure in your life after all the stress and worry of caring for your DH. Are you any nearer making a decision about where to go from here? I wish you peace of mind and strength to do so.

I am fearful that the news from Panache must be serious or wouldn't we have heard by now? We are all concerned and won't relax until we hear, via soop .

On the home front, we are starting preparations for a week away on Saturday so will be absent from GN. Please don't think I have disappeared it's just that there will be no access to the internet!

ChaosIncorporated Wed 05-Sept-18 07:42:11

morethan ...I was not here to share the earlier story, but this sounds like a dreadful worry for you and your family. Thoughts and prayers for you all flowers

Maw ... wonderful family news. Congratulations. I do hope the drug trial was also beneficial.
Our experience with endometriosis was slightly different. DD was advised that they should start trying for a family immediately to have any chance at all, and that the odds were low. The wedding was arranged very swiftly (they are quite old fashioned in that respect).
The next 9 months were spent in a state of shock, as DGS arrived precisely 41 weeks after the ceremony!

ann ...so pleased that you have started to enjoy your holiday, and are relaxing with good company....and good wine, I trust!

Lola returns to the vet today, for post op review. He was hopeful immediately post surgery, so fingers are crossed. She is back to her old self and desperate for a field walk.

I have no cake, but a tin of rather nice biscuits kindly brought by the weekend visitors. I offer them freely...provided nobody dunks in my tea!

cornergran Tue 04-Sept-18 23:42:07

Good news maw, so pleased.

Oh morethan: a blow for you all. I’m so sorry, I know you will get through this but what a huge disappointment. Sending flowers and a huge hug.

MawBroon Tue 04-Sept-18 22:02:21

Thank you.

annsixty Tue 04-Sept-18 22:00:56

Absolutely and I am delighted for them and you.

MawBroon Tue 04-Sept-18 21:54:22

Yes, Annsixty, “putting off “ in the sense that while she was on a 5 year drug trial for Psoriatic Arthritis she was told no way could she risk getting pregnant and then there would be a minimum 4 month “wash out” period after coming off the drug trial. Subsequently discovered she had Endemetriosis and had a “procedure” last Autumn.
With still no “luck” eventually was told she would be referred for IVF but that letter still hasn’t arrived! She will be 37 later this year, so not a lot of time to play with, and of course we are not counting chickens quite yet, but it is lovely news. smile

annsixty Tue 04-Sept-18 21:47:06

Morethan
As a B C survivor I have followed your DiL's journey and prayed for you all.
I am so sad to hear of a downturn when things looked hopeful, you will all be in my prayers.
Maw what very exciting news, I think this is the D who has been putting off pregnancy because of health issues. If so ,it is wonderful for them and you.
I have been out for a wonderful meal, good food and good company from a 19 year old and a 20 year old.
They are so kind and so considerate to this old woman.
I have been able to put my concerns about my and my H's future on the back burner for a few hours. Some young people are lovely.

callgirl1 Tue 04-Sept-18 21:35:41

Thoughts and good wishes from me to your DIL Morethan.
Still worrying about Panache.
MawB, lovely news.

MawBroon Tue 04-Sept-18 21:29:58

Oh morethan I missed your post, how inconsiderate of me.
flowers for you all and thoughts and prayers that things will improve again soon and that this is perhaps a blip.
Never ever give up hope. ?

MawBroon Tue 04-Sept-18 21:28:01

Just a whisper that youngest DD and SIL might have a very special birthday pressie for me next March ???

annodomini Tue 04-Sept-18 21:09:27

Morethan, I'm so sorry for you and your family to hear of your DiL's deterioration. I know how much you have all been through and last time you posted about her, you were being cautiously optimistic. I do hope that the consultants will be able to find a solution. Meanwhile, my thoughts are with you all. flowers (((hugs)))

Nannytopsy Tue 04-Sept-18 20:51:22

morethan2 Tue 04-Sept-18 20:38:17

I know I haven’t been able to keep up with all your coming and goings but can I ask you to keep my DiL in your thoughts. She’s taken a turn for the worse. We’re hoping it’s just a blip but it brings back all our old fears. She’s frightened and so are those of us who love her.
