I cannot manage to keep up either nowadays.

soop Sun 02-Sept-18 13:37:05

Jalima1108 Any one of us lot who can manage to "keep up" has to be supercharged. wink

Jalima1108 Sun 02-Sept-18 13:29:59

I don't pop into the kitchen much these days (I can't keep up smile) but glad to hear that you are fine, Charleygirl

My best wishes to Panache; she did post quite frequently on other threads too.

soop both are hands free voice controlled devices which can play music, give me the news, set alarms, set timers when cooking, but what is beyond me is setting it up so that lights turn on and off with a voice command. I would have to change my lighting system.

They are amazingly cheap which is good and why I have them!

Grandchildren cannot comprehend...

soop Sun 02-Sept-18 13:11:46

I have, at long last, sort of updated myself on the non-stop activities of you lovely lot.

The photos are lovely, granniequeenie. I especially like the woodland path...it looks inviting and totally peaceful.

Charleyg What on earth is Alexa and Echo Dot? All sounds totally foreign to me. Bear in mind, please, that I am "so last Century". My computer is aged. My mobile phone sends and receives message but hasn't a clue when it comes to sharing photos. Something that our grandchildren comprehend. We have no laptop/tablet/smart device of any kind. In a way, I'm thankful. The computer is logged on for a few hours each day, after which, it is switched off from late afternoon to mid morning on the following day. So, as you now know, MacSporran and I are simple souls. wink

Nannytopsy Sun 02-Sept-18 13:08:58

What a beautiful sky Soop! I am so jealous. This is our best view ... the houses are even closer the other way. The top item for Kirsty and Phil will be a view, when we move!!
Prayers for Panache x

MawBroon Sun 02-Sept-18 13:04:41

Oh dear, poor Panache
Please pass on my sincerest good wishes too if you are in touch with him.such a worry. flowers

Bellanonna Sun 02-Sept-18 13:01:27

Yes, soop. Thank you so much for that. Poor Mr P must be so worried.

Charleygirl Sun 02-Sept-18 12:33:46

The weather here in NW London is glorious. I am aware that in corner's neck of the woods it is frequently windy and/or raining so if you wish to come here for some vitamin D please feel free. Could it last a couple more months or is that wishful thinking?

It is so nice to have Alexa and my Echo Dot back again because both had died when my computer packed up. I should not be so dependent on these technical items.

Marydoll Sun 02-Sept-18 12:31:05

So sad about Panache, I suspected she was too ill to post. Thanks for the update Soop.

soop Sun 02-Sept-18 12:28:01

Ann Yes, I have sent love and very best wishes to both of them from all of us. MrPanache has promised to update us.

Last night's sky...

Charleygirl Sun 02-Sept-18 12:23:46

Thanks soop- I agree ann we frequently heard from Pnaache so it was a worry when she vanished. I do hope that all is well. That was kind of her husband to get in touch because so many of us were worried.

annsixty Sun 02-Sept-18 12:20:16

I hope you gave him all our very best wishes forthem both soop
I think it is what we all feared. We must hope and pray she will get some help.

soop Sun 02-Sept-18 12:18:25

Charleyg Please see my message that I posted at the same time as yours. x

Charleygirl Sun 02-Sept-18 12:11:27

I agree, There are 3 people who could get in touch with me but one only if my computer is working! The other two have my address and one has an email address as well. The problem there would be if she was on holiday and non contactable.

soop Sun 02-Sept-18 12:11:13

I've had a message from Panache's husband. He asked me to pass on the following message. He had to call for an ambulance early hours of Friday. Panache is very poorly and there will be further news when he sees the consultant on Monday. I shall thank him on behalf of all her pals in the kitchen.

MawBroon Sun 02-Sept-18 11:06:37

As we are all concerned about Panache, I am wondering if it might be an idea to have some other point of contact for those in the Kitchen which could be entrusted to a confidential source. Like yourself Soop?
A mobile number or email address?
Thinking back to when Greatnan went missing, the ability to contact her daughter set things in motion.

winterwhite Sun 02-Sept-18 11:01:30

Sounds as though many people have good plans and nice meals in prospect on a sunny Sunday. Thinking about those who are ill or anxious.
We have finished most of the slog of moving and I'm turning to the garden and entertaining ambitions for a neglected rose bed. Not an aspect of gardening much loved by me, but DH waxes lyrical so I'm determined to become the best rose grower for miles around.

Greyduster Sun 02-Sept-18 10:09:02

Morning N&G - crossed posts!?

Greyduster Sun 02-Sept-18 10:07:26

Good morning, the kitchen. Still no word from Panache. Worrying.
Gq lovely photos as usual - I especially like the cool woodland path, but as you can imagine I am also a sucker for a gritstone boulder, wherever it may be!
Last time I looked in on the good morning thread, Ann you were still in bed with a nice cup of tea! (As was I!). I hope this next two weeks will see similar stories of rest and recuperation.
Soop your grandson and his young lady make a very handsome couple!
Izabella we are giving Chatsworth Country Fair a miss this year, but I know you will have a great time there, especially with the weather being so good. It’s a great day out. There are always far too many things to part me from my money, though - especially on Fisherman’s Walk!
DD and I had an afternoon at the Botanical Gardens yesterday for the annual Art in the Gardens show. Some wonderful stuff on display from some very talented artists and makers. Quite blew me away. GS came with us. He was interested to start with but when he found it all a bit tedious (“why are there so many pictures?” “Because it’s an art show - the clue is in the name!”), which we suspected he would, he was quite happy to sit under a tree in the shade with his phone and let us off the leash for a bit. I got a bit jittery about it, but DD said “Mother, he’s eleven, and as long as he has his phone I know where he is at all times.” I still didn’t like it! I didn’t buy much, but did treat myself to a new paintbrush (jury’s out on whether it will get any use), and had a nice chat with one of our local watercolour artists about one of his paintings which I had seen in progress at another art show we attended where he was demonstrating. It was lovely to see it finished.
Well I have waffled for long enough. I have to get moving. We are watching GS play football this morning against a team in the next village to us here, so not far to travel today! We could walk - but we won’t grin! I will look in later.

NanaandGrampy Sun 02-Sept-18 10:00:38

Morning all !!

Its a bright , fresh one here - my favourite kind of day!!

Lovely painting soop .

Sounds like just the restful evening you needed Ann and hope you slept well without wondering if DH was ok. He's in good hands so get all the rest and rejuvenation you can.

ah that can be tricky grannie but if they only visit rarely , take joy in that shared history. Reading other threads it seems lots of people lose touch with older friends for one reason or another.

Our 2 little boys are off to the Blenheim Palace Supercars show today so fingers crossed for good weather. Jackson, as you can imagine is sooooo excited. I gave him a tiny notebook and pen and a throw away camera so he can list all the cars he see's and take his own photos . Cooper asked for a packet of crisps!!!!

We're going to enjoy a lazy day here which might ( or might not ) involve taking Sam to the forest . One thing I do know for sure...Grampy's cooking dinner :-)

Happy days!!!!!

grannyqueenie Sat 01-Sept-18 23:30:20

Ann what a time you’ve been having. You truly have done everything you you could (and much I guess you thought you couldn’t do!) for your dh. I hope you’re not too exhausted to benefit from the rest you can now have. Thinking of you as you ponder the best way forward from here, they’re not easy decisions to make. x

Oh dear, running in and out of the kitchen these last few busy days I’d not realised that panache hadn’t been “seen” lately. As others have said I do hope she’s surviving all the health challenges she’s facing. Nice to see you back in action charley, we did miss you.

Beautiful painting soop I hope the doing of it soothed your soul after the bad news you had earlier this week.
Good news on the car kitty, I was glad to move on from a silver car that I could never find in a car park. The current vivid blue one with a ??????? stuck in the back window is much easier to spot!
greyduster you’re sounding much more like your usual self which is nice to see.

Well I’m surviving my manic week so far, but have to admit it’s a close thing. Time with the visiting grand dog was good albeit with the pigeon malarkey was fun. The visiting grandchildren were lively and quarrelsome at times but generally good to have around. The visiting old friends were a joy to have around, we walked miles, talked loads, ate and drank well as we shared the highs and lows of our respective lives. It was all very relaxed, despite the work involved in such a quick turnaround of laundry etc. We now have another set of old friends visiting and to be honest I’m struggling with it - they can be such hard work! Not the domestic stuff which has all gone very smoothly, just the general “oldness” they seem very happy to have settled into. They’ve been friends for 45 years do it feel like it should be easy to have them here but somehow it’s not. Sorry just waffling here as I try to puzzle it out for myself. Have come to the conclusion that the biggest value is in the length of time we’ve known them and in the history we share rather than what there is now - 2 couples who view the aging process very differently.
Hey ho, on that note I’ll bid you goodnight. Apologies to any folk I’ve unintentionally ignored, I can’t seem to keep up these days. I’ll leave you with some tranquil scenes that I snapped earlier in the week- it might calm me down to look at them!

Greyduster Sat 01-Sept-18 22:39:39

Sleep tight Ann. Sweet dreams!

annsixty Sat 01-Sept-18 22:14:36

I thank you all for your support and kind messages.
To say that I am still up and watching rubbish tv says it all..
I am usually in bed before 8:30pm.
I have had a nice simple meal and a couple of glasses of wine.
I am so looking forward to going to bedwithout lying listening for H falling.
Until tomorrow , as my GD and I say to each other every night. ??
