So sorry to hear about your friend soop, his family and friends must be shocked and devastated. At our age 50's is so young.
My H has slept and slept, he is now sitting with his eyes closed.
He is making little sense, he has asked several times when he is going home. My cleaner, who has come to us for about 7 years told me this morning I am just delaying the inevitable.
Why am I resisting so hard?
The next two weeks may make me be realistic, I am so tired all the time, I can't "think straight".
I would welcome some cake,
I wonder if any is being delivered this afternoon.

Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.
Welcome.

Good luck with the harp*Galen*. Might come in handy in the after-life?
I have brought flapjacks which I made this morning. I happen to know our hostess is partial to a soupcon of flapjack!
Sad news for you today soopand maw, indeed life can turn oh so quickly.
I’m so sorry about your night and day ann, your situation is worrying. Hope you can hang on until next week.
Love the harp galen
. I’ve been wondering about archery. I could imagine all sorts of people in front of the target.
Sending calm vibes anno. Wishing that blood pressure down.
I did go back to sleep, an hour before I had to get up. Not sure it was helpful. Seriously grumpy Croner today. Mr C would appreciate sympathy.
Apologies to those I have missed. The kitchen is a busy place. Good wishes to all, especially those struggling in whatever way.
Sorry Anno - misremembered.
That is so very sad Soop - my sincere sympathies.
There is a lot of sadness about isn’t there?
Having only recently “discovered” my half brother 3 years ago, I am saddened to hear that his lovely wife, my sister in law has just been readmitted to hospital for her second course of chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukaemia. Life can indeed turn on a sixpence.
Galen ?!
Decided in retirement I’m going to learn to play the harp, in the faint hope that’ll be useful after. And also take up bobbinlace.
soop and ann no words but hugs and
.
How sad Soop so young !
Soop No forgiveness needed surely? You 'listen' to our woes enough.
So sorry to hear about your friend. Hope the easel helps.
A good afternoon dear peoples. Such a lot of activity. Lovely to have several newcomers. You are warmly welcomed.
Ann Such an awful night that you've once again endured. You need the forthcoming two weeks of respite. I also hope that you have a few personal treats planned.
I am feeling a little low in spirits today. A good friend who lives in the village (early 50s) had an accident not too long ago. He was found face-down near some rocks having sustained spinal injuries surfing at a nearby beach. He was in a bad way. Managed to pull through after surgery and went home in a brace. Re-admitted with a bad infection and suspected stroke. Transferred to a different hospital. Had a blood clot removed from his brain. Put on a life support machine which was turned off yesterday. We are expecting to hear the worst. A really good family man. His smile lit up the room when he entered. Forgive me for off loading. It's probably best if I return to the easel and concentrate on other matters.
No, Maw, I still take statins, albeit the minimum dose. Maybe the GP will suggest an increase. One of my sisters had to give up because her lips went numb and she couldn't pronounce labial consonants, leading to the impression that she had been on the bottle.
Hello everyone! Sorry to have been absent but I was at work yesterday - yes the W word! I have agreed to do a month of full time while someone recovers from an appendectomy. Was I mad?! I start properly on Monday so regular inputs of cake and gin will be required.
to Ann
Did you say elsewhere that you had stopped taking statins because of the side effects on your skin Anno?
Apologies if I have got the wrong end of the stick, but if right, perhaps.....?
I am going to have a 24 hour BP monitor fitted today. Recently the readings haven't been too good and I might have to give in to medication. I thought the high readings might have been caused by the 'white coat effect' but today I tried my own machine and it was high again. Buggeration!
Something to look forward to then Annsixty if you can last out. A little light at the end of the tunnel?
Great to see that you are off on Monday
Maybe he will enjoy respite so much that he will want to stay
Thanks all.
He has slept all morning but I could not do the same as my cleaner was here at 8am.
She has just gone and we are all "done and dusted", at least I dont have that on my mind.
He is going for 2 weeks respite on Monday, I hope ?
Just popping in to rest the backpack by the Aga. Been off doing my usual solo thing for a couple of weeks.
Nice to see some new faces and tantalising tales of cake. I am around for a few weeks now until C then off again, although Galen a cruise has been booked for next year. Not my scene at all but sometimes there are others to consider ........... There are things I am dreading about it but I shall rise above that hopefully and put on my serene face. ?
I have to admit I have not read up on everyone's chats but suffice to say I hope all are coping as well as possible with life. I may possibly have home made spelt bread to contribute if someone can bring fresh butter later?
Off to the sewing shop now to replace my decades old sewing box. I fancy one of those cantlievered things. Is that how I spell it?
I do agree with Maw , things can't go on like this Ann
So sorry Ann to see that after such a disturbed night you are losing out on your "day off" .
afternoon out for me today , my DSis is coming down , we are heading to that well known purveyor of Knickers to replace my rather grey garments , I am on holiday next week so using that as the excuse , funny how one needs an excuse to spend my own money on me ! No doubt coffee and scones will feature too

I hope you get some sort of rest today as you cannot lurch from crisis to crisis struggling to keep your head above water like this.
I wish I had more practical advice to offer but sadly there is none- other than residential care for your DH sooner rather than later.
Sending you my best wishes though
Ann I’m glad your DH is none the worse for his fall, but what a shame for you that he will miss the respite day ☹️.
Corner I hope you got some sleep eventually. I remember what the bickering was like with my two (in middle age, they still bicker!) and often think that it would be nice for GS to have a sibling to bicker with. I think it is a valuable part of their development to learn to share their space peaceably with another.
I was awake before the alarm this morning to wait for GS coming over. His dad drops him off on the way to his work, which is about quarter of a mile from where we live. The day will be fairly fluid; we are going for a swim shortly, and then it will be games in the garden probably. I’ve been asked to give him his tea this evening as time is always tight for DD on Thursdays and their fridge broke down on Monday so she can’t pre-prepare anything. As she said last night “you don’t realise how much you miss these things until you don’t have them.” I told her that, growing up, we never had a fridge and what you’ve never have you never miss, but I would not like to be without one now! So it is sausage and mash at our house this evening.
Right I have to get moving. I will look in later.
Anne,
. I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles and those of the other kitcheners. I just can't keep up with you all.
Ann I am so sorry that you have yet another problem but glad help arrived fairly quickly. I'm sorry you will miss your day off - the rest would have been very welcome.
Lovely to see you Galen. Have a super cruise and stop worrying about the future.
I hope everyone got some sleep eventually.
I'm completely jiggered. We all enjoyed Richard lll exhibition and the visit to the tomb and lunch but there was an awful lot of walking and chatting involved.
It seems to be a night for being awake.
My H has had another fall.
I coudnt lift him or move him at all.
We waited an hour and a half for the ambulance but they were marvellous when they got here.
He is not hurt , they checked him very thoroughly and he is now in bed and asleep.
I of course am shattered but can't sleep.
He will not be fit for day care tomorrow? so I will not get my day of peace.
Good night all.?
