Soop's friendly and welcoming kitchen.
(1001 Posts)Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.
Welcome.

A bleary eyed `Morning all from a rather soggy coast here in Wales.
Now why did I not think of joining you all here in the kitchen at those early hours of this morning!
It is such a bind having these periods of so little sleep, one feels less and less a human being.
Whilst though I dread this next `op I am getting to the stage anything is better than feeling like a dying duck..........and believe me I am fully aware I am being a party pooper..........and I do beg your pardon.
As for young Teddy what a face to uplift anyone, you are so blessed Soop.......a real smiler.
Hearty congrats Nonna it seems as if all the dice are stacked in your favour and you now have the hectic business of down sizing and packing, although somewhat daunting ...........an exciting new challenge, and may I wish you both every happiness.May everything go tp plan.
Our Doctors from the London were again full of praise, but there were a few areas just not right for them.
Yesterday`s viewer was looking for quite something,a sole male in his late 40`s with an entrepreneurial spirit, wanting both a home plus somewhere to entertain clients for his Graphic Design/Photography studio.
He was full of praise for my artistic flair which was obvious throughout............always nice hearing that.
We have written him off as this place probably does not accomodate his needs, but very charming, interesting and he did fall in love with our kitchen/conservatory,and sitting room with its cathedral ceiling!!!!
Back to the drawing board I guess..........quite frankly I need to get myself back well enough to cope..........life.....it ain`t always easy!
Seems you had some unpleasant news Topsy........so sorry, and yes sometimes that magic wand would be such a blessing.
Long time since I was on a `bus let alone a double decker! We have no `buses here in this part of the country..........that is why we have deloped hooves I suppose!
Enjoy your "Top of the world" trip Corner
Aircraft is something of a second nature to me,having been brought up in a village Cheek to Jowl with the Fleet Air Arm,aircraft of all descriptions taking off, landing using a flight path immediately above our small village.
Their Air Day shows were second to none.
Then my husband was also in the R.A.F.
Strange how with all that loud noise ...and no DG in those days.........but we simply got so used to it all.
No one has cleaned our house or done any of the required chores whilst I have been in bed..........so wishing you all a pleasant day............IF.... you can keep your eyes open my fellow sufferers!!!
Goodness what a busy evening.
panache, topsy and corner ....so sorry you are fighting the insomnia demon. So annoying, and exhausting., when the brain just will not stop churning.
soop ..... Teddy looks to be a bundle of fun!
nonna ...what exciting times! fingers crossed that they meet you half way.
There certainly does seem to be a strained atmosphere on the forums at the moment. Does it often turn into daggers drawn? Thank heaven for the safety of the kitchen! I can't handle conflict in the real world, let alone online!!
Aircraft stories have brought back a long forgotten memory of courting days, with the ex was still in the RAF, in the early 70's.
I went to stay close to his station, one weekend, and he took me for a long walk, to beautiful sand dunes, where we reclined in the sun canoodling
Until a Vulcan flew over at what seemed no more than 50 feet above our heads (although I am sure it was far far more). The noise was deafening.
Where had he taken me? the edge of RAF Donna Nook bombing range!!
topsy and corner you both obviously need lessons in how to sleep. I cannot show you how to sleep the entire night because I am up to the loo several times each night but rarely can I drop off to sleep again even with Tara wanting to lie beside me.
I spent the entire night cleaning my house in my dreams so I was so disappointed when I woke up to discover it was still in its present state.
nonna I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
At least two people awake in the wee small hours?
I hope you find enlightenment/relief/a solution/comfort, but worrying is what we Mums do
Looks like we’re both struggling with sleep topsy. So sorry the phone call has left you with a heavy heart. If you find a magic wand can we share, please? Family issues rumbkingnhere for far too long. Do we ever stop worrying about them?
What a boy Teddy is! Hope sleep came your way Panache.
My brother lived in Porthcawl many years ago and the Vulcans used to appear without warning from the sand dunes behind his house as they came in to land at RAF St Athan. Exhilarating and so loud!
Phone call has left me very sad and wishing I could wave a magic wand.
GreyD, what a feeling when the Vulcan flew low and immediately overhead at air shows, looking like a gigantic moth!
Sorry, iPad has a mind of its own - charley of course.
Of course you’re right charlie, but one day maybe. I can hope at least
.
Promise I won’t kick the front of the bus maw
.
Coincidentally, we went in 1974 too, Callgirl. It was actually closed down in 1977. The kids, being young, thought it was great. We could see where the rot was setting in and it was sad.
I have a “thing” for the Battle of Britain flight too; I don’t think there are many who are not moved by these iconic aircraft, but the one that got my spine tingling was the Vulcan. Such a shame that it won’t fly again, but a fabulous aeroplane to see in flight.
Soop, your pal must be so grateful to have you and MacSporran as friends, as must his wife. Your Teddy is gorgeously cute!
Nonna W, I get your feelings regarding then Spitfire and Hurricane, but it`s the Lancaster that really stirs my blood, she`s beautiful, what I wouldn`t give to fly in her.
GreyD, I thought that must be the case regarding Belle Vue, thev occasion I was on about was December 1974, and it looked a bit shabby then.
Hoping that all house sales and purchases go just as hoped for.,
Sitting on the top of the bus! At the front!
Family lore tells how I was once sitting there with my older sister (Mum further back) and the bus kept stopping, the driver would get out, open the bonnet, peer underneath, get back in, drive on, repeat. This went on for about half an hour I believe until my Mum realised what was going on. I was swinging my legs and kicking the front of the bus. When it stopped, so did I and when it started up again so did I.
Although we were nowhere near our destination Mum blushing furiously whisked us off that bus PDQ before the driver or conductor realised what the “knocking noise” in the engine really was!
Was I in for it when we got home!
corner much as I love dogs they are tying. I obviously do not know your day to day movements but is your life such that you can take a dog to most places with you? What will happen if you decide to go on holiday? Kennel fees are expensive as are vet fees. Have you any family who could look after a dog if you were on holiday or are they all working?
Sorry to put a dampener on things.
Ok I am now slightly excited and nervous in equal measures. We have had an offer on our house, which was too low but we have gone back to say we will meet them halfway on it. Waiting to hear back. And we have put in an offer on a house too. Suddenly it all seems very real, slightly scary but in a good way. One things for sure, if we get the house we’ve offered on, we will have to get rid of a lot of our furniture, as well as the junk we’ve accumulated.
Teddy brought a much needed smile soop, thank you for sharing him.
As did Hattie, Mawb. There’s a running dispute here over another canine housemate. So far Me C is winning.
I do understand pain and lack of sleep panache, hugely debilitating. Please try to set worries about your house sale aside and be kind to yourself. Wishing you a restful night.
We’ve just decided to have a bus trip out tomorrow. No car until the end of the week, I’m unreasonably excited about it, I get to sit on top. Simple pleasures
.
Teddy is growing up so quickly, he is delightful.
Just popping a very tired nose around the, as usual, hectic kitchen, where I have decided with the best will in the world, you cannot possably speak to each one individually.Bless you all.
Please know though I read fully, and appreciate...........whilst a big thank you to those understanding this dire limbo situation of house selling.
Two london viewers in a space of 2 days have just about worn me out...........in fact to be honest, my health has truly given up on me,sleepless nights and so much pain makes me see stars. I seriously wonder if I can find the all needed strength.
Every commiseration with you Nonna and your DD Nannajane.....
Must say an elegant looking you Topsy...... and if there is any of that delicious looking cake going, please remember me,so glad the Wedding went off well.
Hope the `phone call does not present further issues.......
Lots of minor disgruntles and lovely animal questions and answers by the younger ones which I have noted (And suitably smirked!).........may I please say... just keep hope in your heart that whatever the glitch........it will get sorted.....as I am trying to say to myself..................
Limping out for another much needed quiet night.......a spot of relaxation within my brain would be extremely welcome!!! Night all.
I haven't time to check on whatever it is that has upset some of you. All I can say is...let it go. As long as we're comfortable with each other's company...we are very fortunate.
A quick latest photo of our boy Teddy.
I shall return tomorrow lunchtime. Love to you all. x
With you Kittylester no longer “our” GN is it?
oh dear corner I stupidly thought that those nasty threads had long gone.
I’m sharing your upset kitty. Don’t let it get you down too much. I’m not having a tantrum, they require too much energy, but I am almost decided to stick to the kitchen in future and not post elsewhere. I’m wary of saying too much in case there’s a risk of a thread about a thread. Oh well. Onwards eh?
