Sorry, cannot linger. A quick shower and back to bed. This virus dreadful. I feel as bad as I did before being admitted to hospital with pneumonia about three years ago. UTI almost under control. Antibios dealing with that side of things. My chest sounds like a train going through a tunnel. Cough, cough, cough...spent most of the night sitting up as it was easier to breathe.

I do miss you ALL. Being unable to check in for a chat and cake is a taste of purgatory.

Synonymous I have heard (without having the experience myself) that manuka honey can be very effective for open ulcers. The authority is my retired GP sister in New Zealand which exports the manuka products.

Synonymous, DH has had leg ulcers for 7 of the last 9 years. The skin is so fragile there after a problem. Leg of lamb needed or just TLC?

BT delivered the new equipment yesterday!
DD1 is arriving today for an overnight stay, which has allowed me to leave the BT box unopened in the happy knowledge that she will have the system fully functional within minutes ....without my having had to peer at instructions written in miniscule font, or wrestle with leads which refuse to fit in the holes available.

Thank you Soop I have been massaging his wounds daily with essential oils since January 2017 and I was so pleased with how it was looking but it has all gone pop now. I had a good cry I have to confess. He is so frustrated poor man with not being able to walk properly or wear shoes and socks and the constant pain is obviously very wearing. I hadn't thought about cellulitis but had been more concerned about it ulcerating. I shall have to look that up to find out about it. Himself has absolutely no energy left so will hopefully be a bit more inclined to rest. He was pretty upset about what happened and has obviously had quite a fright as he was busy telling me not to keep on when I actually had my mouth fully zipped. I think he was hearing voices!

That is a very nice fireplace and I wouldn't want to spoil or get rid of it either. Ours is a nice Westmoreland slate fireplace which is a lovely green colour and looks quite similar to your colouring. We got an inset woodburner so that we could fit one into the existing fireplace and it has been quite a success. This is the first load of wood we have had to buy so I am still reeling at the price! We had so many trees cut down when we moved in that it has kept us in wood for three years but it wasn't ideal for heating so hopefully this lot will be better for giving out heat and justify the cost. We shall see!

Update on the walk that wasn’t suitable...my old boy enjoyed it but commented that the walks we do on holiday in Wales are more demanding than the one he did today, so as I thought, I’d have been perfectly ok to do it, even in my walking sandals! Mind you it involved a trip in a minibus picking people up from here and there and everywhere with no loo opportunity till the very end of the walk, truth to tell that aspect would not have been so fine! The joke is that I actually walked more steps, on my meander into and around Funchal town and back again than he did on his “trek”!!!

Oh Synonymous do make sure he is careful and it doesn’t get infected. We can be so prone to cellulitis at our age.
I wish I could have a real wood burner. I could easily enough have a chimney pipe thingy fixed on the side of the house but don’t want to lose the fireplace/mantelpiece we had designed and made specially for us by a local craftsman when we fitted a gas coal effect fire some years ago. Apparently a wood burner would be too hot for the mantelpiece.
Ah well, can’t have everything.

Fine feathers indeed make fine birds annsixty and it is interesting to 'see the world and his wife walk by'. It costs these people a great deal of money to move in those circles, not sure that I could be bothered keeping up with it all though it would be nice to afford that choice wouldn't it! Glad to hear that you are relaxing.

I am pleased to say that our winter wood is now tucked away in the woodshed. Himself is very tired but pleased to have it all done as am I but somewhat appalled at the cost. I am very concerned at the state of his ankle/lower leg as it became so swollen that the wounds opened up. The problem is that there is not much flesh there so swelling in the tissues then splits the skin. It was healing so well but I don't think Himself realised that it was as vulnerable as it has turned out to be but in any case you can't easily tell a determined man to stop or pace himself. I am trying not to let my frustrations show but really hoping he is going to start listening to me now.

The weather is perfect today, the whole morning round the pool, I am inside now as it's very hot.
I have never seen so many of the ,"beautiful people" in one place. The clothes are amazing, oh to be 60 years younger and many tens of thousands richer.!!!
The children are better dressed than I have ever been, it is amazing.

Synonymous I hadn't heard of that at all and we often have a tuna sandwich. It turns out that it is like a giant fishfinger sandwich hence hot lunch. No witches were harmed in the process apparently.
