charley as one who is prone to tummy trouble of one sort or another, you have my sympathy. Bugs like that just seem to fly through the air and get me. Hope you’re feeling better, these kinds of episodes just knock the stuffing out of us...literally, sorry tmi there!
My ankle is still sore and swollen and sporting a now rather multicoloured foot. No call from the hospital so I’m assuming no break, phew! Shame about the missed jolly with my friend but in the grand scheme of things it’s very “small beer”.

maw it’s a delicate operation isn’t it? At the end of the day we all need to prioritise who we most want to accommodate/please, ensure we include ourselves in that number and let everyone else just get on with it. Why is it so much easier to say than do?

Some unhappy and poorly people in the Kitchen, so I am sending you my love and support and sympathies and sincerest wishes that things improve soon even if only a bit.
I am in the middle of trying to arrange Christmas without offending anybody or feeding the five thousand. It’s a logistical nightmare which I will not bore you with.
Somebody is bound to have their nose put out of joint (poss sis in law) but there is only so much one can do!

Corner thank you as DH says - "It is what it is" and you can't say much more than that except to be thankful that we still have each other. Anything else doesn't bear thinking about.

I have never had a perm so have not a clue about all that. I am fortunate that I have a bit of natural curl and can push my hair about until it looks acceptable so I have always told Himself how fortunate he is to have landed an economy model!

Difficult if expected news synonymous, you sound as if you’ve both done a lot of coming to terms but it’s always hard to have a less than ideal situation confirmed. Take care both if you.

Oh ann, every time I think of you I heave a sigh, I believe you are doing and coping with far more than most people could. All I can do is hope in your behalf for help for you. .

There’s something about letting them go so they come back eilyann. Whatever the motivation the young man needs to do this, he may well return, if not he clearly doesn’t want to cut all ties which is wonderful to know. Please try not to worry, he sounds sensible and knows where you all are if he needs you.

Been to an event about the future of local health services this evening. Far too much information to absorb, sadly most of it not positive for services and patients. Universal I fear.

Oh no annsixty your situation is much harder to cope with than ours! You have a furrow to plough pretty much solo and I have great admiration for how you are coping. We support each other for which I am so very grateful. In a funny sort of way what happened to Himself has made me very much stronger and apparently I am now officially 'bossy' !
I hope you have got all the financial help that is available. I am so sorry that you have had so much withdrawn after it was so hard won. You may have seen my earlier post where I was talking about there being no perceived need until you say that you can no longer do it. Tough decision but necessary for your own well being. I just wonder if that is the point towards which they are attempting to push you - what do you think? Family conference?

I so empathise Synonymous although my situation is nowhere as bad as yours.
I just identify with just getting on with it with very little help or input.
We are buying in morning help, respite care and daycare, but suddenly that has been withdrawn.
I pay full costs at present while awaiting an assessment, sent in on July 24th.
Respite care when I got it was £250 a week. A nominal sum but not insignificant.

We have had a good but exhausting day and it was really helpful to have the support of my 'little' sis.
For those who aren't aware DH was the victim of a road crash. He was stationary, waiting to turn right off a main road, and a delivery van came up behind him at full pelt and pushed him into a fully laden HGV coming in the other direction. He was very damaged and spent a long time in hospital, then in a wheelchair, crutches and now using a stick but not able to do much even now. He survived, thank you God, but we have had a tough time over the last couple of years particularly as he was my carer. Now we just lean on each other and buy in whatever help we need.
Today he had an appointment with the ortho consultant surgeon who has been supervising everything and DH has been 'discharged' with a telephone number. It is, as I suspected, as good as it is going to get and nothing more can be done at present but wait for things to get bad enough to then have to work out what to do next. Hey ho! At least he has been told he is not ready to drive again - much to my relief!
More appointments next week with other consultants but I think we will now be cut loose to manage everything ourselves (until the next emergency probably!). I am sure it is the right timing and everyone has been amazingly good, kind and helpful so we have no complaints and much gratitude to all the lovely people who helped us so much. Clearly there was never going to be a better outcome than we have and so we will now just have to soldier on. We know there will be more operations but hopefully not for quite a while. A good day overall!

Sometimes 18 year olds just need space to be themselves and grow eilyann. It’ll stand him in really good stead when he starts uni as he’ll already be used to independent living. (I speak as someone who left home aged 18 after constant arguments with my DPs. We got on much better apart, there was still love, they visited often, usually with food parcels from the garden, and they got their freedom too!)

Well at least you know he is ok.
He sounds like a very sensible and responsible young man.
Whatever he perceives his grievances are, he is dealing with them in the way he seems fit.
He will mature and will come to terms with things ,as will his parents.
We need to let them flex their wings and come to their own conclusions.
I pray for your family that he will come to the right ones.

soop I too envy your hair - used to have very thick auburn locks , now white through to grey through to sandy so I envy your colour and length as well!

Just to keep you lovely people up to date:- he went home today to collect more stuff not knowing SIL was working at home. They had a reasonably amicable chat but he's not going home, is going to rent a flat for a year before uni ..... (un)fortunately he has a fair bit saved but can't see it lasting a year!

Try to keep up with it, otherwise go to the salon every few weeks and let them do their job.

N&G Tara will sympathise massively with Sam. She appears to be back to normal but horror of horrors, she adores the wet food I have been buying for her at great expense. I have no idea how to entice her back to plain prescription biscuits again.

I left a bowl out for her overnight in case I was unable to get downstairs today- I did not want her starving. She ignored it and ate the wet food.

ann I bought a plug in thing which I bought from Amazon to shoo away the mice and it has worked a treat. If you wish I can be a bit more technical and find out exactly what it is.

I gave the details to another GN and it has worked very well for her also.

It's been a busy day. At last we're home again. My hair is not completely dry because the hairdresser wishes to leave it to do so naturally. 4" lopped off. A body perm to give it bounce. The perm will "drop" after a few weeks. I shall continue to wear it up on top, that's the real "me" methinks.
I said that I would share a pic with you lot...here goes.

This evening, whilst I'm relaxing, I shall read through every post and tomorrow, I shall comment accordingly. (((group hugs))) until then.

Hello everyone. What a glorious day! Been a bit lively around here lately but things are calming down now our visitors have gone. Getting ready for our holiday on Sunday. Mostly packed and the house spick and span - I love coming home to a clean house ?. So sorry to hear of everyone’s buggerations - here’s fruit cake if it helps.

It may not have been the ready meals. My neighbour had something the same, but she had eaten nothing but her own cooking. Some viruses that hit you in the stomach are spread bu other ways than food.

Blimey Charley something that sudden and violent is not not good! Is there anything left of what you ate that you could put in front of the local Health and Hygiene people? It would at least confirm that it was food poisoning even if you didn’t take it any further. I hope you are starting to feel better and can keep something down, and that Tara is looking after you!

Now that photo takes the biscuit, N&G! I don’t think I’ve laughed so much for a long time! You’re a game pair that’s for certain! The baby is beautiful too - lovely names! Glad to hear Sam has settled down after his dental traumas!

The plumber turned up unexpectedly this afternoon to get on with some tiling. We were going to go out, but it is just as well we didn’t. The tiles look better on than I had envisaged; I just hope he is right when he says we have enough! I think it will be touch and go. At least we are making progress.

Notice to self- do not buy ready prepared meals from an up market food store- cook your own!

I had a ready meal on Sunday, a different one on Monday and as there was so much I was going to finish that lamb curry off last night.

When I got up yesterday I did not feel 100% but could not work out what was wrong. Mid afternoon a mad dash to the loo to vomit- sparing the details this happened about 3 times. I slept in between.

When Tara came home I fed her and we went to bed with I think one mad dash but I had taken a towel to bed just in case.

I am not 100% but I am no longer dizzy and have not vomited. I have just had toast and asparagus soup so we will see. Everything I bought there has been binned. I have no evidence to approach the local food store. No more idleness I will cook my own. I think that is the first time in this country I have suffered from mild food poisoning.
