Crumbs, opening a new kitchen is a bit of a responsibility. I hope everyone finds it - I'll just leave the door ajar.

Bubbles and cake on the side - enjoy!

Greyduster Sun 07-Oct-18 09:51:53

D’you think if we all get together and shout “C’mon, baby, get a shift on!!” it will work? No, me neither ?! Hang in there Kitty!

Jalima1108 Sun 07-Oct-18 09:47:43

Take your mobile with you kitty - things are bound to start moving when you're out!

cornergran Sun 07-Oct-18 08:58:27

Morning All. Popped in to see if any news of the baby kitty, you must be twitching. Avoiding the really bad cold sounds an excellent plan. The foot is better, thank you, swelling has subsided, the joint hurts but can live with that as long as I can wear shoes smile.

Pleased the toothache is better, willow, hope it continues.

Debating whether to wake Rumplestilskin or let him sleep, must need it as my Mum used to say. I’m seriously envious, intermittent sleep for me with an overly full head, so may well wake him grin.

Take care everyone.

Morning to all kitchener!

I heard talk of macaroons - where have they all gone? grin

Take it easy today, maw. It's not a day for doing anything but sitting and chilling. brew

Glad you had a good day Corner but sorry the travel was a pain. How is your foot?

I echo what everyone else has said Ann - that's what the kitchen is for so moan away.

Not a lot happening for the Lesters today but I might go for a walk as dh has a really, really bad cold (his description!) but I suppose I should be grateful it's not flu!

Still no baby!

Morning all – I’ve just opened the curtains (although I’ve been up 3 hours) and we’ve got frost on the front gardens!! We passed the gritting lorry on the way home last night and thought it odd as the car was registering 7 deg outside.

Maw so pleased Hattie came straight back – you read so many awful stories about dogs being stolen these days. She looks very comfy on that sofa – love your bookcase by the way!

I have heard TENS machines are very good although a friend I once had told me hers made her feel sick so I’ve never tried one. I have had RSI in my shoulder so can really sympathise with all of you suffering – I had to sleep downstairs on the reclining chair at the time as it was agony in bed.

Ann you can moan as much as you want in here - 60 years is a great achievement but so sad at the same time.

The toothache seems a bit better this morning – it ended up in my front tooth yesterday and was so painful to touch. No idea what caused it so if it comes back I guess I’ll have to go back and see my lovely dentist – he calls me his miracle patient with all the work I’ve had done grin Grannyq the turmeric my husband is on is with black pepper but I don’t know if that makes it any better. He was suffering a bit last night but then he had been up and down a ladder a lot yesterday putting up 4 new light fittings (why do the wires in them never correspond with the ones in the ceiling?!) and also crawling around on his knees putting a desk together so think that was the reason.

GD glad to hear your back is a little better but sorry you missed your grandson’s cross country – well done to him and also little Bertie (love his name) for his story. My son’s friend calls him Bert – no idea why but it always makes me smile.

A quieter day today – we have to go and buy new bedding and a telephone wire for the router but himself has a hard week coming up so we won’t be out long.

Have a good day everyone.

Macaroons! My favourite. Sorry but there are only crumbs left now, so I’ll wash the plate shall I?
My return to work has thankfully finished for the time being and I can enjoy the Autumn in the garden and start to think about Chr ..... oops, I nearly said it! Sorry Soop ?.
Today has started as a beautiful morning so I had best get up. I hope the aches and pains are easing and that everyone slept well. Waiting with bated breath Kitty ??

cornergran Sun 07-Oct-18 00:08:41

Evening All. Another foul motorway trip but worth it as the birthday get together was more than I had hoped it could be, in spite of my many reservations. The happy faces did me the world of good

ann, you know stating a fact isn’t moaning. Hope tomorrow is a brighter day for you. Sleep well.

Mr C also doesn’t do the cooking, other than a mean bacon sandwich, not his forte. It’s OK, he does all sorts of things I dislike like cleaning the bathroom and emptying the bins. Our ‘his’ and ‘hers’ jobs are largely decided by my preferences, oh dear, sounds selfish doesn’t it?

Be careful with that back greyd, gently does it. Pain simply isn’t fun and no, mawb, not in your mind, although I do think a little bit of hope helps. That piece of reporting is hard to accept, didn’t see the programme, may try to find it on catchup as I could do with something to shout at hmm. I find a TENS machine useful sometimes, it’s a bit of an art to find the right level but once found can help so worth a try.

Look after that wrist charley, once its mended I wonder if you could change your computer set up at all so relieve some pressure.

No news kitty? Can’t be long now.

Best try for sleep, a bit elusive here just now. Good night everyone.

aggie Sat 06-Oct-18 22:15:02

And another voice of support for you Ann , if you can't have a wee moan among friends ...... xxx

grannyqueenie Sat 06-Oct-18 22:09:17

You took the words right out of my mouth maw and overthehills. If 3 of are saying it then it must be right Anne xx

Overthehills Sat 06-Oct-18 22:00:49

Oh Ann this is exactly the place for a little moan - it’s not called “supportive” for nothing. Hope you feel better soon and that you get some sleep. flowers

grannyqueenie Sat 06-Oct-18 21:54:13

Lots of very accomplished children around, well done all you’re making a whole lot of granny’s smile!
greyduster, I must have landed lucky with my old boy well I did just not in the culinary dept, he has 2 things on his tried and tested repertoire i.e. toasted cheese and scrambled egg, and he can do bacon sausages and steak too. In fact he does better with those kind of things than with anything that has instructions, that’s because he follows them slavishly. So everything will either be crisped to a frazzle or raw in the middle, because “that’s what in said on the packet! He means well and thankfully I’ve seldom been too unwell to cook! And yes maw it’s good to appreciate what we have - while we have it! ?
As well as clever children there are also seem to be a lots of achy people around, I’m hoping it’s not catching as I’ve a few of my own and I don’t want to add to them! Hope all the various recommendations help to ease the sore bits for you all.
Well it’s been an easy paced sort of day today. A spot of food shopping this morning and a visit to garden centre which turned into an exploratory discussion about revamping our conservatory. Mind you after the recent gas fire debacle I’m rather nervous about proceeding with anything else right now. Later on we had a pleasant walk enjoying some lovely autumn textures and colours. We’re now on babysitting duty and tucking into some tasty nibbles and a nice bottle of wine. I’m very glad the old boy decided to come after all he can drive home!

MawBroon Sat 06-Oct-18 21:49:28

How much does Ruby charge Greyduster? grin

Nothing to apologise for Annsixty, not negative, just telling it like it is. Wishing you a peaceful night moon

annsixty Sat 06-Oct-18 21:45:40

So, so sorry.
soops's wonderful supportive kitchen is no place for my negative post.
I should start a separate one to moan if that is what I need to do.
Very low tonight, but no excuse, we are both in bed now.
Goodnight everyone, hope it is a peaceful one.

Greyduster Sat 06-Oct-18 18:51:46

Having suffered DH’s culinary ministrations during my rare periods of enforced invalidity, I am pleased he doesn’t feel that the kitchen is in any way his natural domain (except for washing the floor and emptying the dishwasher!). I would get off my death bed and cook a meal rather than have him do it. His signature dish (which in fact encompasses his entire repertoire) is baked bean soup. Despite that, his price, to paraphrase Proverbs 31.10, is far above rubies!

aggie Sat 06-Oct-18 18:27:20

OH would have out evening meal ready when I came in from work , mainly oven chips with something , but it was appreciated . He did the vacuuming when my back played up and got the DC to do their homework , to my amazement . Then he got poorly and I retired and all ideas of housework or cooking was lost

MawBroon Sat 06-Oct-18 18:22:20

Different men have different talents.
While Paw was alive I often wished he would do x, y or z.
He was who he was - useless at DIY, left the kitchen to me, conveniently forgot when the bins were to go out and had two left feet.
But if I were to list my own shortcomings I would be here all night and he loved and understood me.
Mind you, I do like the sound of your supper!

annsixty Sat 06-Oct-18 18:16:15

That did start out as btm.Autocorrect didn't like it.

annsixty Sat 06-Oct-18 18:14:53

Do I need a sympathetic hug or a kick up the gym to admit in 60 years of marriage, 55 of them when he was mentally sound my H never ever cooked me a meal.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 06-Oct-18 18:08:57

Popping into the kitchen for a nice cold glass of vino and a sit down. Husband is currently in my kitchen cooking dinner (goats cheese stuffed figs starter, lemon sole main).

I am Waiting for Stictly to start.

Wishing all kitcheners with aches and pains, some improvement.

I shall be making banana bread in the morning so shall leave some on the side for you????

Jalima1108 Sat 06-Oct-18 18:05:29

He's not someone I would follow normally; I wonder how long the 'mind over matter' will last before their aches and pains come back?

MawBroon Sat 06-Oct-18 18:02:28

I don’t think I would have been very sympathetic to Mosley’s theory!
This is NOT in my mind Doctor!

Overthehills Sat 06-Oct-18 18:00:16

Glad that Hattie is back where she belongs.
Congratulations to those DSs and DGSs.
I’m sorry to hear about the backs and wrists - DH and I have been moving beds around (I nearly said “playing musical beds” but I know what you lot are like!) this afternoon and have realised, as if we needed reminding, that we are not as young as we used to be. All the various aches and pains have surfaced and we are now forced to sit down with strong G&Ts. Life is tough for the over-60s. wink

Jalima1108 Sat 06-Oct-18 17:58:02

Did anyone watch the Michael Moseley programme about back pain the other evening? They told half the patients they were receiving a new drug and the other half placebos. In fact, all received placebos and many of those felt much better after taking them.
hmm

Jalima1108 Sat 06-Oct-18 17:55:53

Who said that cats always make their own way down?. Well, among others, Jalima, I think I did. I am happy to eat my words! I thought they did too.
grin
And most probably do Greyduster, but this one must be a scaredy cat!

soop Sat 06-Oct-18 17:44:15

Synonymous How civilised of you. I had better grab two. Just in case that lot are heading for the kitchen. wink

anno MacSporran thinks that the TENS machine works because the pain it induces takes one's mind off the original pain. I think that you possibly gave yourself far too powerful a wotsit. It worked for me. I was glad to give it a whirl.

The day has been sunny throughout.
I'm logging off until tomorrow. Take care and stay safe (that's to all the four-legged members of the kitchen).
smile moon
