Crumbs, opening a new kitchen is a bit of a responsibility. I hope everyone finds it - I'll just leave the door ajar.

Bubbles and cake on the side - enjoy!

Synonymous and Jalima I’m SO pleased both cats are back and hopefully on the path to health and happiness. What a relief - I’ve been in that boat but with not such a happy outcome ... sad
Grey I can sympathise with you wholeheartedly, I sometime feel so nauseous with back spasm pain. I’ve grown out (!) of mine to some extent but when I feel a niggle I take cocodamol (not the soluble) and that seems to knock it on the head - the only thing that has ever worked. I really hope it eases soon.

callgirl1 Fri 05-Oct-18 21:25:14

GreyD, so sorry, I thought I`d commiserated with you about your back, but I see that I didn`t. I can truly sympathise with you, my back has a tendency to just "go", unexpectedly, it feels like a spring has just gone "ping", and it hurts like hell. Years ago my GP advocated lots of lying down and very little walking, which didn`t really help, nowadays I`m advised to keep moving as much as possible, it hurts, a lot, but seems to get better much quicker...………..till the next time.
Jalima, so pleased your boy is down from the heights, bless that climber. I hope he stays away from trees from now on.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:43:19

Thank you all.

And best wishes to all humans who need some tlc at the moment too. smile

Nannytopsy Fri 05-Oct-18 20:36:26

My first cat was a Smoky too! Glad they are all safely gathered in. ?

Willow500 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:34:48

Jalima just popped in to see if he's home and seen some brave person has rescued him - what a a relief. So that's 2 pussies safe and sound at home and another I know been spotted near his home so hoping he also turns up during the night.

The toothache has moved round to the front now - bit like an abscess pain I used to get on the other side so really hoping that's not what it is! Taking wine for it - I don't like whisky so experimenting grin

GD hope your back starts to improve soon. Today is the first trip to the supermarket we've made where my husband hasn't had to go and sit down due to the pain. He's starting to believe the turmeric capsules are actually working.

Corner hope tomorrow's journey is less eventful. I don't know if there are more accidents or just that there is so much traffic on the motorways these days the slightest knock causes huge tailbacks.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:28:13

Don't they put us through it

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:27:48

He is not allowed out - he's grounded! smile

Synonymous Fri 05-Oct-18 20:25:25

Wow, what a drama Jalima! That will be another happy household tonight and another little cat being loved back to health, don't imagine they mean to put us through the mill but we certainly go through it for them.

Smokie is sleeping in his little roost in the sitting room having had yet another feed and is snoring dreadfully! He is trying very hard not to use his box and I had to post him into it earlier but as he can't dig with his 'poorly paws' he was very distressed not to be able to be 'tidy'. Such a clean little boy so I am cleaning everything up for him straight away. Clearly I need a new job description! hmm

cornergran Fri 05-Oct-18 20:08:38

Sorry greyd meant to acknowledge your poorly back. Please get some help, doesn’t sound as if it will fix itself this time.

cornergran Fri 05-Oct-18 20:07:10

Evening All. Good news jalima. What a relief for you all.

Be brave soop, just ask the hairdresser if she is confident of recreating the look you want, when she says yes then just relax and enjoy the experience. I have confidence smile.

I have a particularly bossy cousin kitty but her heart is in the right place, hopefully you’ll find the same with this person, if not distance can be very helpful. grin. Hope that anticipated phone call comes soon.

We sat on our local motorway for what felt forever today before inching past the outcome of an accident. Is it me or are there more lately? Not a good start to someone’s weekend sadly. Need to travel along it again tomorrow, here’s hoping for better luck for everyone.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 19:22:55

Yes, aren't some people wonderful! smile
Let's hope the cat doesn't do that again!

Thank you all

annsixty Fri 05-Oct-18 19:21:24

Well done that climber.
What a huge relief for the family (and puss) .

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 19:14:31

He's down! A climber came with his ropes, climbed up above him, grabbed him and brought him down. He's very skinny but otherwise seems OK.
Thank goodness, as the weather forecast is not good.

So relieved!

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Oct-18 18:26:23

Jalima that is horrid- you can see the little fellow but can do nothing practically.

If you and family held a sheet underneath the tree would he have the guts to jump? I feel so sorry for the little mite.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:50:51

Keeping fingers and everything crossed.

Thanks callgirl

callgirl1 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:49:01

Congratulations Brunette, and to the happy parents as well.
I`m so happy that Smokie is home now, hopefully his poor little paws will soon heal, bless him.
Jalima, I do hope that your poor boy comes down very soon, cats usually make their own way down, I wonder what`s making him stay up there? My first cat was a Smokey, he was a lovely bluey grey with blue eyes, that was 55 years ago, blimey!
Soop, thank you, David will be pleased at the attention, twice in one day!

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:36:18

I don't think he will, he is out on a branch and probably very weak by now.
Thank you

soop Fri 05-Oct-18 17:34:25

Jalima1108 Oh dear! This is serious. Surely he'' make his way down very soon. What on earth is he drinking? That's the main worry. I hadn't realised that he had been out of reach for such a long time. There appears nothing more that can be done. It's a matter of playing the waiting game. I would probably sleep in a tent beneath the tree. I shall look in again tomorrow. Hoping for better news. smile moon

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:17:14

soop yes, he is 40 - 50 ft up, was miaowing, he must have been there since Sunday, no-one could find him. RSPCA and fireman have been, no-one can get to him.
Thank you for responding.

soop Fri 05-Oct-18 16:48:47

POGS Ditto. flowers x

granniequeenie You are a good friend.
I'm relieved that Mr queenie didn't find himself up a creek without a paddle (had you been out of the house to make a major decision). I would have hated him to have suffered a bump on the head with a frozen leg of lamb. Dear of him.

Doodle Tinnitus must be a very distressing buggeration. I knew of a lady who suffered with it. She said it was like a taste of Purgatory.

corner and Fennel I trotted into the salon this morning. I left the lovely lady who will transform my look for the better, or not with a few photos of how I imagine I shall look after she's tiddled with it. Eeek! shock Watch this space. hmm

Willow500 Doesn't time fly when you are enjoying the company of friends. Did you eat cake?
I can well imagine that your son is having a wonderful time. Can you share the photo?

Ann How are things progressing? You are never far from my thoughts.

Nannytopsy* and Gaga Thank you for popping in. We enjoy your company. smile

Charleyg Lucky you. Fuss Tara for me please.

callgirl1 So relieved that the eyesore has been removed. Some folk have no respect whatsoever. I would lock them all up in a bunker some place far away. wink
Said hello to David twice today.

soop Fri 05-Oct-18 16:27:21

kitty Lucky you. I would love to join you for Abigail's Party. I'm a huge fan of Alison Steadman.

Greyduster Don't apologise. Back spasms are wickedly distressing. It wouldn't be wise to watch your grandson run in tomorrow's cross country. He knows that you would support him if you could. I wish him well.

Jalima1108 Do you know that the grand-cat is up a tree, or are you guessing? A fireman may need to coax him down. Cats! They are amazing creatures and have no idea how much they make us fret.

kittylester Fri 05-Oct-18 15:08:04

Congratulations Brunette, brilliant news! How lovely for you. Please let us know any more details when you can. We are expecting another boy too.

I'm so glad Smokey (which is how I'd spell the cat's name - he's not a flipping fish - though he might like to eat one!) is home and will think twice about wandering off again.

On the basis of expecting a call from DD3 or her partner, I was a bit jumpy when the phone rand at 8.45 this morning. It was the wife of my second cousin (we think) in New Zealand who is doing their family trees. They got out name from a DNA sampling website that we had used after the children bought us a kit for Christmas. To be honest we haven't looked at it much and they had sent us a couple of messages. Despairing of our lack of reply, she looked our phone number up in 'white pages' and rang us up. The was quite bossy and has emailed me a list of relatives to try to find. It's a good job I have lots of spare time!!!

DH and I are going to the theatre to see Abigail's Party. A present for DH from some children as they know it is his favourite play - although I'm not sure it was the play so much as Alison Steadman.

Take care until tomorrow.

Greyduster Fri 05-Oct-18 15:06:55

Ah, how nice to have some good news in the kitchen! Glad that Smokey is returned safe and sound, synonymous - he’ll probably think twice before getting adventurous again! Let’s hope so! And your new GS, brunette. What a joy! We only have the one, but are no less enraptured by him now than we were eleven years ago! Don’t the years fly?

The old back is not a lot better. I foolishly went out this morning with DH when he went to get his eyes tested at our local shopping centre. I only had to go to two shops and then I thought I would get some coffee, but I didn’t even manage that before I struggled back to the car in a lot of pain. If this is not better by midweek I will have to find a chiropractor. I am not a stranger to back pain but this, frustratingly, is not following the usual pattern. It has messed up the weekend as I promised GS that we would go and watch him run in his first senior schools cross country tomorrow and now I shall miss it. But.... people have far worse things casting a pall over their lives, so onward and upward. I have to go and prick some sloes ready for this yeay’s batch of sloe gin. At least I can do that sitting down!

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 14:37:02

He is home!
So relieved to hear that Synonymous (I did pm you) and perhaps he will stay a bit closer to home in future.
Worried that our grand-cat has been found very high up a tree and all attempts to get him down so far have failed. He will be very weak by now and dehydrated.

soop Fri 05-Oct-18 14:00:16

It's good news day! Hooray!

Well done, Smokey/Smokie...I couldn't care less how your name is spelt. You are a wee star. Rest and recuperate. You too, Synonymous. sunshine

Brunette10 Wowee! Welcome to the world to your new-born grandson. flowers

We've been care home visiting. no time left before we traipse back to the surgery. Two appointments to keep. I shall return later and catch up with all your news.
