And don't forget; you'll soon need a man about the house to put up the C-decorations and the tree lights
Well I will just have to contain my disappointment won’t I.
Is it normal to talk to yourself?

Apparently it's now "Open Season" on men.
We've had a regular series of disparaging threads about "men" starting from way back and recently dealing with mens' underdeveloped domestic skills like not washing up the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, not putting things away in their proper places, not rushing off to the GP with a cut finger and lately poor posture when seated wearing inappropriate shorts. And yet ladies knock back (apparently) free medical advice re: fat! without any male responses. Are we men or mice? Time to say our piece, men!
And don't forget; you'll soon need a man about the house to put up the C-decorations and the tree lights
Well I will just have to contain my disappointment won’t I.
Am I the only one who thought this thread was about Holly McNeish’s book of poems Nobody Told Me about the trials of early motherhood?
Sassenach512 I was thinking Camilla a fortunate woman indeed.
You and me both gmelon! I don't think I'd manage to get off the tube without swooning
^How do they avoid a peep-show?
I'm sure when Charles travels the Underground in kilt, (Elizabeth Line of course) he'll show us how to wrap it discreetly around his knees^
Wrap it round his knees ??
I'm afraid i read this with a very different image in mind !!!!
Rubbish, this was what you said
Oops! Sorry! Did I say it was 1.00AM and I was tired?
My post this evening contained the missing "avoid." Heaven forbid that I should lead a dour Scot off the straight and narrow.
From your earlier posts I think you were both school teachers, but I guess my homework mistake has lost me a few marks.
Perhaps 1 out of 10 for being here?
Btw; the Scotties look good; are they posing for a whisky photo shoot; Scotch perhaps?
Few women admit their age. Few men act it
why don't you fight back by complaining
Fennel; Not interested! Can do all those things. Anything I can't, then I get an expert in, or better still, go on a course to learn how. All you need is a certificate in common sense.
And don't forget; you'll soon need a man about the house to put up the C-decorations and the tree lights. I used to get great satisfaction doing that; even vacuuming the carpet of pine needles afterwards.
Women who aspire to be equal to Men, lack ambition
Rubbish, this was what you said. Mcem and I were saying men (of our acquaintance) do not.
You raise an interesting picture in my mind; how does a Scottie (doc) in kilt disport himself on, say, the Underground facing - inwards seats if the rumour is true? The mind boggles etc etc etc
How does he disport himself?
He keeps his knees together, that’s how.
do not display their wares as you suggest rufus!
mcem; Sorry, but you are twisting my words. I did not! Quite the opposite! How do they avoid a peep-show?
I'm sure when Charles travels the Underground in kilt, (Elizabeth Line of course) he'll show us how to wrap it discreetly around his knees.
Anything else would give the term "travel-sick" a whole new meaning.
But you have to give them credit for wearing them in the depths of Winter.
with a better example please
Of course! You may have noticed that a thread was set up by a lady, to encourage "men" to see a doctor sooner rather than later. i.e. "men" were procrastinating over medical symptoms. Ladies were in favour!
I simply thought it conflicted with your apparent rejection of medical advice on a very common problem.
My other remarks, e.g. kitchen, home duties criticisms of mens' failings etc were just reflecting my concern at the relentless barrage of views in public on matters that should be private.
Don't worry; Relax.!
I know you are all joking, as are my responses.
Why do skydivers jumping from a plane at 20,000ft, bother to wear crash helmets? Jerry Seinfeld
My family men frequently wear the kilt but, being socially aware, do not display their wares as you suggest rufus!
Rufus why don't you fight back by complaining that women can't do things like changing a wheel on the car, changing plugs from continental to british. Sort out a messed up 'puter etc?
Or trying to fix things and making matters worse?
No doubt some women on here will claim to be able to do all these things.
I do rinse /scrape plates before putting them in the dishwasher as the clever man who comes to unclog the pipe in the door charges £75 call out plus £15 per 15 minutes.
Yes I'm married to a washer upper who then puts washed items in the dishwasher, just why??? He's taken it upon himself to be sole dishwasher monitor of late. So unless he tells me whether it's been on, and sometimes I forget whether he has told me, I've no idea if everything is clean or dirty, because in our house they go in clean when they're supposed to be dirty
well anyway I put them in dirty, well maybe a little rinse, but not a proper wash like him, because strangely I assume that's why we have a dishwasher!
Rufus2, what a strange comparison, free fat medical advice v men’s underdeveloped domestic skills , can you come up with a better example please ?
I think you are wrong Rufus, we have open season on anyone!
Why on earth do you accuse me of “mawling” you Rufus?
My father wore the kilt occasionally and would no more have spread his knees to 90 degrees in that than in a pair of normal trousers.
“Manspreading” is the deliberate ill-educated and uncouth incursion of the space of another, partly perhaps out of misplaced male arrogance, partly to embarrass those (especially) women sitting beside or opposite.
No gentleman would behave like that.
There is no excuse for “manspreading” in whatever attire under any circumstances, nor "mansplaining"
Maw; I see you are out to Mawl me again, but I'm much tougher now.
However, You raise an interesting picture in my mind; how does a Scottie in kilt disport himself on, say, the Underground facing - inwards seats if the rumour is true? The mind boggles and eyes would be on stalks.
As you may know, I live on my own now and I can categorically say that "kitchen and heat" is just a load of old wives' tale;
Thank you for your support Luckygirl; now I'm waiting for the rest of my cheer-squad to appear on the horizon.
It's 1.00AM; I'm tired,
I had a little drink less than an hour ago; now I want to go to bed [snore]
One man I could avoid like the plaque although poor man looks increasingly ill but that’s John McCririck he is everything I dislike in a man Arrogant. disparaging of women, a non listener, ugggg I d walk to another town if he was around well him and trump ( with a little t) oh and the heavy drinking heavy smoking arrogant cesspit of a man call Farage
....but I m sure your great Rufus
Most men are lovely and so we don't need to post when they are lovely. People post when there is a problem. DH is the nicest kindest most generous and reasonable of men and I can count on one hand the number of men who I would avoid. I read Mumsnet and am transfixed by some of the tales on there. How do these young women shack up with them? Are they overwhelmed with lust and are blinkered or are they of the I must have a bloke whatever the price school of thought?
Maw
those of us without cod -dangles just have to get used to sitting on half a seat.
Luckygirl in defence of Rufus2, we recently had to have the dishwasher repaired as food residue had not been adequately removed before loading the machine ( by the Bodach, obviously).
Actually Baggs most men, especially the young snakehipped hipsters of the metropolis, have narrower hips than we do and have no need to open their knees to a 90 degree angle when sitting on public transport.
It’s just a modern take on codpieces isn’t it?
Men can take it Rufus Now, cover those budgie smugglers immediately!
