Maw You were blest to have spent your marriage with your darling Paw. His character is written in his gentle face. flowers

Ann Bad mannered folk are without an iota of tact. She deserves to be given a good old fashioned telling off.

The gentleman in our village who is computer savvy has just called. He has a bottle of home-made wine for MacS. I mentioned my problem accessing FB. He said it's something a great many users are experiencing. He has promised to call back and help me put matters right.

Galen I love all birds.
"Our cat" called by for supper last night.
Freddie the male pheasant has a lady friend. He has introduced her to the diner. She seemed impressed.

Have another poem to read in the church tonight. I've chosen - 'Perhaps' written by Vera Brittain in 1916. Dedicated to her fiancé of four months who was killed by a sniper's bullet.

Galen Fri 09-Nov-18 13:08:06

Just been watching a jay in the garden. They’re such ungainly ugly birds until they reveal that flash of heavenly blue.

Overthehills Fri 09-Nov-18 11:31:46

Oh Maw what a lovely man Paw looks and pretty much how I imagined him. I hope you are being extra kind to yourself today. flowers for you and all the family.
I haven’t been in to the kitchen for a couple of days but have read through (quickly!) all of your posts.
Ann you really are getting it at the moment - maybe you should mention that woman’s horrible message to the CPN?
I can’t keep up either and was about ask if I was alone in this! Most of your are brilliant at replying individually.
Oops must go as DH has come in demanding his coffee (which he is making!), back later.

Nannytopsy Fri 09-Nov-18 10:53:59

flowers Maw and a frozen leg of lamb for Ann to swing at someone at SS

Willow500 Fri 09-Nov-18 10:42:00

Maw I'm sure all days are difficult since Paw passed away but today is especially hard for you and your family. Thinking of you in your sadness flowers

annodomini Fri 09-Nov-18 10:27:12

ann, I'd like to get my hands on the woman who left that arrogant message on your phone. What a *** nerve! Ia it too much to hope for some joined up thinking in all the services you and your H are involved with? No - don't answer that one.
So I'm not alone in having had speed awareness training. Twice! It's my heavy right foot that's to blame. grin
Maw, I'm thinking of you and your sadness today. Can it really be a year? flowers

harrigran Fri 09-Nov-18 09:57:58

Thinking of you today Maw flowers

Alygran Fri 09-Nov-18 08:41:50

cornergran Fri 09-Nov-18 08:35:18

Be kind to yourself maw, you’ll be in my thoughts today, sending a gentle hug and flowers.

MawBroon Fri 09-Nov-18 08:22:32

Good morning all in the Kitchen

This morning I am remembering through my tears how privileged I am to have spent 51 years of my life with such a gentle and principled man.

RIP dearest Paw ?

tanith Fri 09-Nov-18 07:56:24

Good day folks smile

tanith Fri 09-Nov-18 07:55:32

Just popping and I apologise for not commenting on all your posts I have trouble keeping up I’m afraid.
Willow500 just want to say we’ll said for insisting DH goes for that aneurysm scan, it save my DHs life as he was found to have a very large aneurysm which ruptured while waiting for the surgery thankfully they got him into hospital in time and he recovered well. So do make sure he goes.
Have a good all the mince pies look delicious.

Charleygirl5 Thu 08-Nov-18 22:14:48

N&G It sounds as though Grampy has almost got the new wing ready for Tara and myself. Just think, free dog sitting as and when you wanted for Sam!

Panache I do know you go to bed very early each evening but I do hope that you are feeling marginally better and can sleep.

corner may I ask who let you loose in Ikea with money in your wallet? At least you arrived home safely if rather tired.

Last night the fireworks were still going off close to midnight. I do not care because I can sleep through anything but I felt sorry for parents with children who had to go to school today. It would appear that tonight is going to be a repeat performance. Where do they get the money?

Doodle Thu 08-Nov-18 20:15:20

panache if you pop in later hope you are ok. I know you've been feeling quite poorly recently.
soop can you try the forgotten your password link to Facebook again and see if you get an email back this time. Other than checking on your spam messages (which has already been suggested) I'm afraid I can't think of anything else other than checking upper and lower case and numbers. Hopefully you get in soon.
Considering the size of some of the Santas I've seen Galen I doubt if you would cause them a problem ?
ann what a cheek that phone message. Good job the young man himself is more pleasant. Glad you had a good time at the garden centre.
N&G I will be round for my supper soon. Beans, eggs and toast lovely ?
Ooh kitty you are norty. I hope Santa gets you to drive his sleigh this year, get the presents all delivered nice and early ??

cornergran Thu 08-Nov-18 20:01:36

Evening All. Pleased to report I escaped the blue and yellow building with all limbs intact, can’t say the same for the wallet hmm

I’m another who struggles to keep up in the kitchen. Absolutely shattered tonight so although I’ve read all the messages I’m not trying for any sort of sensible reply to anyone, just sending hugs to all who need them and wishing you all well.

Greyduster Thu 08-Nov-18 19:50:54

kitty talking about your grandfather clock reminded me of when we stayed in a house near Whitby with GS when he was small - between two and three. There was (among other precious looking bits of furniture ?) a working grandfather clock. GS was fascinated by its sonorous tick and used to squat on his haunches in front of it watching the pendulum swing! My SiL said they ought to get one as it seemed to keep him quiet for ages!

I can’t bear arrogance Ann and I would find it difficult to lie down under a message conveyed in that tone! Give ‘me a broadside! Glad you enjoyed your day out, though. I got a very pretty scarf from DD for my birthday - she knows exactly what suits me; camouflage green with fish on it! No, only joking grin.

Sounds like the main man has been doing a sterling job today, N&G! Perhaps he should have the brownies to keep his strength up! I took some over to DD’s for GS and DH to have with a cup of tea when he came home from school. I had a lovely ? apple.

All this talk of beans and scrambled egg, and chicken curry (be still my beating heart!) is making me very hungry. I had some healthy grains with steamed asparagus, black olives and feta cheese. Anyone want to do a swap? No? Thought not! DH had shepherds pie. He didn’t want to swap either ☹️!

Well, that is all from me. I wish you all a restful evening.

kittylester Thu 08-Nov-18 18:31:14

Willow, you can go on another (and another!) so long as there are at least 3 years since your last 'offence'!! I have found it takes about that long to get complacent!!

Willow500 Thu 08-Nov-18 18:12:42

Kitty that made me laugh - I thought you could only have one go at the course? Hope you get the clock back together.

Callgirl I've told Mr W he has to go for the check - he's agreed but the date isn't convenient so he'll have to ring them tomorrow.

kittylester Thu 08-Nov-18 18:02:08

Willow, I think I'm a nun!! blush I've been on 3 of those courses - they are very nice!! DH's new car beeps at you if you break the speed limit - spoils all the fun!! grin

Our cleaner has been with us for about 15 years and does 3.5 hours a week which was fine when we had a house full but is really too much for us now. I lend her to DS1 every month as his PA is absolutely lovely but awful in the cleaning department. So, they go out and do things and our cleaner cleans.

Ann, you are having a series of buggerations at the moment. Hang on in there! wine

We are awaiting the return of the innards of our grandfather clock. The mender man (who looked after the clock when Mum had it and was christened the mender man by my children) took the insides away and left us with the hollow clock in the hall. That was six months ago. He takes them away and does them in turn. It is the sound of my childhood - first of all at my granny's home and then my parent's house. I was forced to have it by Mum because no one else had any where to it. Now, we all love it and the fabulous chimes. He's coming between 6 and 8 - so we daren't eat. S*d's law says it will be 8 when he arrives.

callgirl1 Thu 08-Nov-18 17:55:10

Willow, you`ve set me thinking now, I was going to ask the cleaner if she`d come for extra time every 3 months to clean my windows on the inside. I`ll still ask her anyway.
Re aneurysm checks, when my husband was discovered to have an aortic aneurysm just over 5 years ago, we were advised that all adult male relatives should get checked out. I don`t know about hubby`s brothers, but my 2 sons were checked and found to be OK, but recommended to be checked out every couple of years.

Willow500 Thu 08-Nov-18 17:23:41

aggie grin

aggie Thu 08-Nov-18 17:19:09

Willow in my experience Nuns are the worst drivers ever , they seem to think their guardian angel is on permanent duty !

Willow500 Thu 08-Nov-18 17:15:40

Trying to keep on top of everyone’s posts today while I try to decide on chicken curry or shepherds pie for tea – the curry is winning out at the moment.

Ann I’m so pleased you’ve managed to have a break out today and are not feeling so washed out – I love garden centres at Christmas (well almost Christmas) - far too tempting though to buy yet more baubles I don’t need. How annoying the CPN didn’t take notice of your cancellation but at least you’ve managed to make another appointment without having to go through the whole rigmarole again.

Maw your cleaner sounds a gem – I struggle with our duvets and they’re only king size so would be really hard pushed to work with a super king. Does anyone’s cleaners do windows? I found that the private lady we had to do my parent’s place would do anything but then when the SS one started they weren’t allowed to do windows for H&S reasons.

GreyD glad your appointment went ok – parking at hospitals is horrendous. I recently went with my husband as he had to have his eyes dilated so couldn’t drive. I found he parks in the pub car park opposite ours which always has spaces – it’s got a pay & display so it’s allowed. If only I’d known this all the years I used to take my parents for appointments. Hope you don’t have any repercussions from your flu jabs – we’ve been fine so far.

Husband had a letter asking him to go for a routine aneurysm CT check yesterday – this is a new one on me. Has anyone else been called for one? His mum did have an aneurysm years ago and had to have heart surgery but I doubt that’s in his notes.

No post from Panache today – I hope she’s ok and just resting.

N&G we need updated photos when it’s all finished.

I ordered the electric fire this morning – its on next day delivery so my husband should be able to pick it up tomorrow while I’m at my ‘naughty girl’ driving awareness course. I’ve been driving like a nun since getting caught so I’m definitely aware before I’ve even been!

Chicken curry it is. Have a good night everyone.

NanaandGrampy Thu 08-Nov-18 17:01:32

Evening all !

Blimey things move on here - I have read all your posts but wont reply to all as you'd be looking at War and Peace !!

Grampy has done a sterling job of laying the flooring in the West Wing and started putting on the preservative . He is now snoring quietly in his chair and Sam is snoring loudly next to him !!

Sorry to hear of your bad night Panache, I hope tonight is better.

Callgirl I don't have a cleaner and I live firmly by my Grans stated law- dust is a protective covering for furniture ;-). Our house isn't dirty by any means but if there is an alternative to housework I will always take is as life is too short for that!! :-)

Pass a brownie or 3 Grey , Ill help you out !!

Glad you had a nice afternoon out Ann are you feeling a bit better?

I am off to make a scratch dinner soon which will involved beans, scrambled eggs and toast !! Ha ! Gourmet or what!!!

annsixty Thu 08-Nov-18 16:35:47

I am back from my perambulations having had a nice afternoon.
It was 20% off at the garden centre so I bought a new Christmas tree topper and a lovely scarf for myself.
When I got in the phone was ringing and when I answered it was a CPN who said he had called by appt this afternoon.
I explained I had rung saying it was not convenient to come on Thursday as soon as I got the letter.
He was very pleasant and we arranged for him to come next week.
It was a good job I didn't listen to messages before I spoke to him as when I did there was a very arrogant woman saying she was ringing from the Memory service to say that a member of the team was outside my property and would I please go and answer the door, end of message.
I was not impressed I can tell you.
