Dear Maw I would think we all stand united in thinking very much of you this anniversary week, there are so many suffering alongside I feel sure........may you find some inner peace in the wonderful memories you hold of such a great gentle man Maw........something so precious and no one can ever take from you.

Pleased my mention of the sand sculptures aided very much by Elegran `s helping hand were of interest Callgirl......always good to have our more light hearted moments here I feel.

I was equally touched Willow..... whilst I certainly envy you your seaside weekend hopefully recharging those batrteries nicely.

Indeed all over the Country each area are doing their own contributions for the Fallen Soop, and I think every one participating will have that special few moments of real emotions and reflections.many tears will be shed.

Typically damp and dreary November met our weekend viewers whom certainly took a good look around,said a few pleasantries and vanished...........we await some feedback.....but my "gut" feeling is this is not for them. Although the grounds impressed them as they are Market Gardeners already.

My eyes are showing signs of being over worked therefore forgive me trying to cut short my postings.... when in truth my heart is bursting out all over, always keen to share with you all.

Trusting matters of health remain fair at least,matters of home life I leave to the more experienced, and for all of you... I wish a peace in your hearts and the spirit of joy popping in whenever........whilst keep smiling my kitchen friends.

Willow During Rory's time with us, we always left the radio on for company whenever we left the house.

I've already overeaten this morning so will have to pass on the bacon butties unfortunately but will be taking some more cheese scones out of the freezer for Mr W's supper and I'm sure he'll share.

I must away back to the bungalow soon but will hopefully be back tonight if I can log in. Slightly worried that the furries will be here on their own until their dad gets home from work and it's bonfire night. The cat flap will be locked and I shall leave the radio on for them - we are surrounded by houses that seem to think bonfire night starts in October and continues until Dec!

Overthehills I missed your post so I have had to go back to see what had happened.
I am so sorry about the upset with your DD.
It is hard to hold in what we feel especially when a much loved GC is in the wars.
It is also hard to accept our AC are just that, adults, with their own lives and their own stresses. We have to realise that we can't fix everything for them with a cuddle as we did when they were young.
I hope it all settles down and you resume your previous relationship with no harm done.

A Nordic log cabin, N&G? I hope you and Grampy won’t be dashing round the garden in the altogether, thrashing each other with birch twigs!! They don’t do that sort of thing in Norfolk you know! The West Wing has arrived although currently it looks more like a pile of firewood than anything else but by 2pm ( apparently) it will look like a Nordic log cabin ! Watch this space.....

I was out for a meal today, it was my son-in-law`s 55th birthday meal, there were about 20 of us there, including baby Max, who just keeps getting more gorgeous and more blonde every time I see him, and he`s such a little smiler, even when being passed around like a parcel for cuddles.
Panache, thank you for bringing the sand sculptures to our notice, they`re wonderful. I`m ashamed to say I can`t remember who put up the link to them, but thanks to you also.

I have tears in my eyes at the Golden Wedding tribute video Panache- what an amazing artist to do that and the music was so apt.

Maw a very emotional week for you all - no wonder you are all feeling all over the place The daffodils will flourish if you plant them on Paw’s grave – they grow very well and double each year. There are some planted on my in laws grave and look lovely in the spring.

Overthehills I’m pleased today was a better day with your daughter – sometimes a night’s sleep works wonders and least said soonest mended is the best action.

Soop they seem to have the figures of the fallen in quite a few places – it is extremely moving. A couple of week’s ago my cousin’s son went to York museum and found a copy of the letter sent to my grandmother’s MIL (complicated - not my great grandmother but my cousin's) informing her that the parcel she had sent to her son on the front had been divided amongst his comrades following his death. The cigarettes had been greatly received and the writer was sending his condolences. He took photos of this and one of him as a young man in his uniform and sent me them which was a lovely thought as I had never seen them. 11/11 is my late aunts birthday – he was her father, killed when she was just a young girl with 3 younger brothers.

Another beautiful sunset – we had rain coming home tonight so nothing as wonderful to see.

We have had a very nice weekend at the seaside and this morning finally were able to go for a walk along the harbour and through the town of our youth which brought back many memories. Some places are changed beyond recognition of course but there are still some we remember well. It was made all the better as Mr W was able to walk the whole way with little or no pain – the turmeric capsules are working so well. We have passed them on to BIL who suffers with reflux as well as prostate problems and they seem to be working on both as well.

Alfie and Daph have been so well behaved this weekend – no spats and even the nights were fairly peaceful. Getting them in their carriers has never been easier either – amazing what a little catnip can do . I have to go back again tomorrow for the gas fitter coming on Tues to refit the gas fire. This will be either go smoothly or be a disaster as we’ve never had this fire working! I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Thankyou Maw - I agree with all you say. We see a lot of them and do a lot with DGD with DD there. DD’s response if I offer to help out is often that her ex will see it as her not coping and might try the “full custody” threat yet again. But - we saw them today for lunch and things were fine though nothing was said about last night, and DGD has said she wants to come for a sleepover on her own and DD was happy for me to help with DGD’s homework and reading. I’m going to try to follow up on that but say nothing more that might seem like criticism.
I hope things settle down for your DD Maw and that you can do a little bit to help. Of course all of you will be thinking of how things were this time last year and Paw’s death.

Overthehills My heart goes out to you. Something similar happened to me a long time ago. I felt physically sick when cross words were exchanged.

Tabby cat returned late yesterday afternoon. Straight into the chalet. Departed leaving a whistle-clean dish. I also saw one of MacS's favourite crows soften a crisp crust by dunking it into the water in the roof guttering. At the moment, we've Freddie the pheasant strutting around with a less glamorous female.

N&G Laura is very like her Nana. A beautiful young lady. The baby is gorgeous. I would so love a cuddle and snuggle.

We have a week of poetry reading evenings in the village kirk throughout next week. I've composed a poem that I shall recite on Tuesday. I shall share it with you after the reading. On Friday evening I am reciting another beautiful poem titled - 'Perhaps'.
The kirk has been beautifully decorated and the pews contain life-size perspex figures to represent the spirit of the fallen. Very moving. I took a photo this morning.

Oh I am sorry to hear about the row with your DD overthehills dealings with daughters can be a minefield.
You say she is under huge stress and you can understand it, so when you kiss and make up, as you will, could you just say you do feel for her, six year olds can be very trying and would taking the wee one off her hands for a day, a night or a weekend be of any help?
I can remember being very sensitive about even imagined criticism of my parenting when I was a young mum . I’d think “you can talk!”
One of my DDs is very down at the moment, simple exhaustion I think, demanding job, lively children and their assorted activities, SIL frequently away or working up to midnight, not sleeping and I suspect also with paw’s anniversary coming up on her mind.
I tried hard not to give advice (give up the job!) but just asked whether it might help if I went to stay one afternoon/ evening/ night per week up to Christmas to get her over a particularly busy patch.
Hard to know what to offer without interfering, but is is upsetting when you see them struggling.
