GD, Chatsworth is a fabulous place. We used to take picnics there when I was a girl. My youngest brother found watches in the grounds on three occasions and was given a reward by the owner of one. It kept us out of mischief for hours searching for more.
corner, I am sorry that you are suffering and everyone else whose back and various other joints are causing them pain, you have my sympathy.
Anyway, I really came in for a granny gloat. The superstar that is Bertie got 'Star of the School' this week for his attitude to work and his achievement. He's 6 and has really suffered because his father is an Idiot! His new Daddy, on the other hand, is fabulous and he and DD3 are great parents. Persie said she was so proud she nearly cried!! I am so chuffed for all of them.

Hello all - I am determined - I've bought more cheese and will get those cheese scones done next. I just need to find the recipe from my old school book as I can't remember which flour it is - I've got both just in case! I will make extra to share.
Panache we also like The Chase which follows another favourite Tipping Point. I've found myself watching reruns of Quincy and Kojak the last few days as I've been getting dressed. I like the home renovation programs too like 60 Minute Makeover although some of the finished decorations wouldn't bear close scrutiny but they usually look better mainly down to the new furniture! During our recent bungalow renovations I bought a chandelier for my bedroom which I just knew my husband would absolutely hate. He did - he hated it even more trying to put it up but the general consensus of those who've seen it is 70-30 liking it 
I'm hobbling a bit today too - it must be catching in this kitchen. My flu jab is very red and itchy so husband said put some E45 on it which is in his room. Rubbing it on my arm I stupidly walked into the doorframe and kicked it with my little toe! I did think later last night I'd actually broken it but it's a bit easier today although shoes and boots are not too comfy.
Soop Alfie got in the tray this morning but obviously had no idea what he was meant to do in it - I can only hope when it's in place he's going to learn quickly.
My son sent a little video of our 5 year old GS's first cross country - he came in 20th but Dad said he distracted him and I can see him turning round and waving. He does seem to have settled down to his new school which is a relief.
The oven is calling - I'll be back!

Shall we share a warm corner greyd? An hour chopping and mixing in the kitchen has left me struggling to stand still. I can walk, sort of sit but don’t ask me to stand in one place. Flipping back. A food shop later will be interesting at the checkout 
. Oh well, and this too will pass, along with the tinnitus I hope, recent throat and cough thingy seems to have turned up the volume. Can’t tune it out now. Oh well, my moan over, promise.
Emotions and logic don’t always go hand in hand greyd, he’ll have a wonderful time and be back in no time to tell you all about it. I’m guessing you are noticing it more because of your not as full of beans as usual.

Greyduster yet more beautiful photographs. The visit ti Chatsworth Park must have been idyllic. The stags certainly know how to strut their stuff and bellow at this time of the year. It amuses me to see the females happily chewing on the grass. I imagine that some might think...oh no! It's that time of year again.

Evening all – I am still being very slack about making these cheese scones – tomorrow!
Here is a beautiful picture Soop has done of Daphne – captured to perfection – one amazingly talented lady. She will be going in pride of place on the wall in the bungalow this weekend (Daph that is not Soop). Given the awful problem you have down below Soop has I don’t know how you manage to do anything and standing ironing will most definitely not help – are you able to sit to do it? My mum’s prolapse was also worse if she stood for too long and had to sit with her feet up until it went back. Different place like Fennel but it might help to do the same.
I have taken delivery today of a huge litter tray – it’s a new type with a hole in the lid which they’re supposed to get in – I know Daph is going to take one look at it and think if she thinks I’m getting in there she’s sadly mistaken! I’m hoping Alfie will use it though as he’s quite handy at peeing through holes – I will report back – if nothing else I can use it as a bucket!
GD I hope your son enjoyed his pie eventually – getting stuck in traffic is the very devil when you need to be somewhere – especially for mum’s meat and potato pie. Love the pictures of Chatsworth – one of my favourite places to visit especially at Christmas – we try to go every year. My granddaughter brought her dad’s camera with her for their trip to Windermere and took some beautiful shots. She’s just finished her media course at Uni and takes wonderful photos – even with her phone camera but the digital one is obviously fantastic so if you can get one definitely go for it.
Callgirl falling out of bed is no joke especially if you can’t get up again – could you have the care alarm installed on a pendant or a button on the skirting board (my parents had one in the bathroom). I hope your aches and pains have improved a bit today but I bet the bruises will be worse before they’re better!

Maw good news about the 20 week scan and also that the steroid injection didn’t hurt too much. Hattie looks so comfy on that sofa – is it her very own?! And mcem congratulations on your secret news – hope your DiL’s sickness soon passes – if I’d had it with my first one I’d never have had another!!
Morethan it’s definitely no surprise that your little granddaughter is showing signs of stress – we sometimes think they don’t take things in but they know more than we think. The news today seems a bit more hopeful – if there is a new radiation treatment available and your DiL can benefit from it fingers crossed she is able to try it. Enjoy your time with the little boy – their innocent chatter and play is a good tonic. The C-Pap machine is for sleep apnoea – a necessary evil as he sees it to get proper sleep. When he was first tested all those years ago his body was waking him up dozens of times an hour as he stopped breathing so he wasn’t getting proper sleep and was tired all the time.
Flu injections done and a few other issues sorted out with the nurse – it’s a good thing we went in together as I made sure to ask about Mr W’s deaf ear – he’d never have asked himself! She had a look and kind of reeled back in shock – it’s completely blocked with wax – no wonder he can’t hear anything but worse than that the other one is too. There’s only a very narrow opening at the top which is how he’s hearing at that side. The ear syringing machine is out of order so they’re waiting for a replacement – wouldn’t you think they’d have a spare! I did offer to squirt it with a washing up liquid bottle but she didn’t seem very impressed with the idea so we have to wait but meanwhile he has to put olive oil in it. Seems the cooking sort is not suitable either so we have some from the chemist.

We had a walk around Chatsworth Park today, along the river, up to the Hunting Tower (great view from there!) and then round the lake. We have failed, until today, to find the lake, which supplies water to the cascade and the spectacular fountain in the grounds and, now, to the visitor toilets! We sat and ate sandwiches, fresh strawberries and jam doughnuts in the sun. On the way through the park we saw a large herd of red deer, with a couple of hefty twelve point stags squaring up to each other and roaring their challenges. It is that time of year. We couldn’t get close enough to take good photos with a phone camera. It has only reinforced my view that I need a new camera!
Feet up for me now; my hip is complaining bitterly! Serves me right!

Thank you for your kind words, ann. We've had the flu jab and I took a wee specimen along with me. Yet another UTI and yet more antibiotics. Never mind, the appointment with the consultant is only a matter of a week and bit away. Thank you, NHS. What would we do without you.
Time for a fond farewell but I shall make a point of visiting you all again tomorrow. (((hugs))) a plenty for each and every one of you.
