Er!!!

Listening to a man being interviewed on the radio whilst having our dinner the other evening both my husband and i commented on the amount of time he use Er!!
Ever since then we have become very aware of this. Many of the people are highly educated and working in high powered jobs in the media and in parliment. Is this their equivalent of 'like' which is used by a lot of the younger generation nowaday?

I've always thought Prince Charles says "er.." a lot when speaking.

Remember The Thin Blue Line? That wonderful line, “Sir your ER has arrived”.

Err seems to have been in use forever. Someone I know uses a long drawn out Errrrrr. Horrid.

That is exactly what I was thinking just the other day travelsafar. I was listening to someone speak and they used ‘like’ rather a lot but no ‘errs’. I have caught myself saying ‘like’ recently and feel slightly shame faced by it, I’m trying not to do it any more! blush

I ask him to tell me something and he says
