Cutlery Drawer

I have a cutlery drawer with plastic divider thingy, never occurred to me not to. And yes it is a strange crumb magnet. Also a utensil drawer and a utensil pot on the side for the stuff I use all the time. I also have some of those magnetic plastic stacking joseph joseph utensils that a friend gave me, which stand on the windowsill. I never use four of them, as I have older but more preferred versions in the utensil drawer. But it does have the pasta scoop and I don't have another so I use that. Only really hanging onto them as my DD is getting her own home soon so I'm saving them for her - guess I'll buy another pasta scoop though.
I really like light hearted trivial threads, the world is full of complicated difficult things and my brain needs the rest, and I'm inherently nosy interested in other people.

The spaghetti server is ideal for hooking things down from those top shelves - saves getting out the steps. The ladle works, too, but the prongs on the spaghetti server mean it gets them first time, whereas with the ladle you might have to have a few attempts before latching on.

We now only seem to have pasta when DGC visit and have fallen into a pattern of pasta bake.
So our spagetti thingy usually languishes in the gadget drawer.

However 5yr old DGS loves to help with cooking and is a dab hand at mashing potato, he spotted pasta thingy and thought it would make a good masher, obviously it didnt but now its seen the light of day I think Spaghetti should be back on the menu.

DH doesn't like pasta so I only cook enough for me and then quite rarely; however, it's useful when the DGC come and eat with us.

I do and my hanging rack has the same sieves as MawBroon, also hung on the same side behind the hob.

mine are in a plastic compartment thingy ,as it helps the gc find the right items. last week gs wanted to know what were butter knives .and where ,.same place says me butter knife got flat surface for spreading butter .other knives for food for cutting.then he found the curling knife for making curly butter spread. so that kept them happy making jam and butter sandwiches for tea. think its good they know where things are in the drawer.

Does anyone remember going to Church teas.? We had to take a knife, fork and spoon with our names written on pink Elastoplast and wrapped around each handle. I have a very old spoon in my draw with a very, very worn piece of tape with my Dad's name ,nearly illegible, on it

Don't abandon the RF threads gilly. I refuse to be lectured to by the killjoys who think speculative gossip is a hanging offence. It's still a free country.

Gilly us teachers are just people! Please do not worry about what we think. We are no more important/clever /stupid than anyone else... even amongst the teachers we will have huge differences of opinions.. on all things school related never mind anything else!

Ah, thanks PECS and Maw for explaining. It seems the divisive nature of Brexit has hijacked discussion forums too.

Well Maw I’m now terrified of asking advice on anything remotely school related for fear of the wrath of ex/retired/mother’s of teachers (of which there seem to be millions on GN) so those topics are well and truly out of bounds for me , followed by the royal family and religion . No wonder GN is getting boring .

Divider for me but the teaspoons don’t like their bit and most have gone goodness knows where!

I suspect my DGC’s primary school gave more of my teaspoons than I have Beechnut . I blame packed lunches and yogurts ! I recently invested in a pack of tiny little plastic spoons which strangely they seem to remember to bring back

Urmstongran I tread warily but since a certain political event took place the polarisation on discussions has become stronger. This has made 'political' threads predictable and repetitive. Posters have wanted to engage but perhaps, to stay 'safe' the opportunity for meaty 'debate' has reduced and threads on more 'chatty' issues have been started. Nothing wrong with a chatty thread but debates are good too!

If your pasta server has a hole in the middle - apparently it is big enough to fit 1 portion of dry spaghetti through.???

Cherrytree, I do see what you mean. . I just think that GN has become quite banal recently and that is only my own opinion, others may think differently. We are all different.

I will try to think of some interesting topic to post about, instead of my usual boring contributions.
