The thread on expressions that irritate you is going well. Now for expressions that make you happy & are nice to hear. I’ll begin & of the top of my head they would be ?
I love you You have a lovely smile That was a wonderful meal I can always count on you to help You have the most amazing children & grandchildren Your are so kind
Sarahellen, thats so funny. The worst response I’ve had when at DHs work function recently & when asked my children’s ages by another one of the wives attending was & I quote “ you must have been married at 16” I love your second response. I’m going to keep it in mind. Thanks!
An expression that used to make me happy but I won’t hear again - “Glad you’re home safely, I really enjoyed our day together.” This happened when I used to phone my dear friend Jean after driving home from a day spent with her. Jean died in October 2017 and I miss her so much.
Expressions I still hear said to their Mum or Dad, from GD, 9 and GS, 8. “ Call us when Nan is going home because we want to say goodbye”. They spend increasing amounts of time in their bedrooms but still want to see me for a hug and a kiss before I head home.
Might seem rather odd to some, but it made my day:
Five year old grandson to his mummy, "Which granny is coming, is it Granny 'J' or Granny with the rules?" Mummy, "Granny with the rules." (That would be me.) Grandson, "Oh, cool."
As I now live with my DD and her family my other AC and GC visit here. One of the DGD I live with was heard to say as one visit ended “I’m glad I’m the cousin that got the grandma to live with”. Makes all the noise and chaos of life with two little ones worthwhile.
My 8 year old DGS (who lived with me for most of the first 7 years with his mum my DD3) said to me just before Christmas “all of the good things about me Grandma are because of you” made my day! but very teary ?
You’re the best best Granny in the world - DGD. I’ll bring one (new recipe) the next time we come - DDiL. Thanks Mum - DS. Thankyou for all you’ve done for me - DD.
Back home after declining an invitation to remain for an after dinner celebration. Leaving it to the young ones ?Tuned in to see latest in ‘expressions that make you happy’ I think 2019 is going to be the year for all of you with so much love for your grandchildren. My heart is melting ? such lovely expressions of love.
DGS at age 3 looking & staring at at a tiny mole on my neck & saying “what’s that” I tell him & he runs away in horror ? off now & happy new year to you all xx
