At the mercy of, and not unusual, gales and torrential rain here in N Cornwall .Woken at 5am like all hell let loose to find satellite dish hanging from its fixtures minutes later came down narrowly missing a window.I shouldn't complain when there were crew stranded on a cargo ship that had ended up on one of our beaches. No doubt will attract many to see the unusal.

Yes EllanVannin and not so long ago she was very stressed about damage to a works van & the tools inside and all the hassle about insurance.

EllanVannin Tue 18-Dec-18 12:01:22

The last time gillybob was posting she wasn't too grand and was off her food so I hope she's alright. I know it's a busy time for her.

Urmstongran Tue 18-Dec-18 10:39:17

Morning everyone. Windy & wet here in South Manchester.
Are you okay gillybob - you usually post on here and I’ve not noticed you for a while? I enjoy your posts as you entertain with your views whilst venting humorously about hating going to work at ‘that place’.

harrigran Tue 18-Dec-18 09:52:56

Good morning, it is wet and windy and has been all night. I slept in after a poor night now I am already running late.
DS is 47 today and we will be doing the school run for GD then visiting him. We will have dinner at a restaurant so at least we won't have to cook.

Mapleleaf Tue 18-Dec-18 09:50:49

Good morning,
It's grey and windy here today, but doesn't feel quite as cold, though I've only ventured as far as just outside the door to put the bin out for rubbish collection today.
Managed to start wrapping presents yesterday and will continue today. Just realised whilst doing so that I'd missed someone, so will be getting that gift this week! I've never been so last minute tchgrin.
That's a lot of postage to pay for a letter EllanVannin! I think I'd be sending an email if the recipients have access to it.
Hope everyone has a decent day. tchsmile

Grammaretto Tue 18-Dec-18 09:33:48

I braved the wind and rain and am on the bus towards town. I'll try to do my Christmas shopping but one request is for bottle green velvet trousers!
I've recovered from the cold but sorry for Marydoll and others suffering.

Hi everyone, fairly grey day here in the south east. Had a lovely late birthday lunch courtesy of my son yesterday at a Thai restaurant, delicious smile It was nice to do a "one to one"

Taking our dvd player to an electrical repair shop today hoping they can fix it before Christmas, I have "Zog" to record for grandkids (latest Julia Donaldson) her stories are always so good. Other than that gym and a few bits of Christmas shopping.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Annieb x

Finish wrapping gifts today. Daughter finally back home after flight was cancelled. Two buses, two trains and then Hook of Holland Ferry to Harwich. Fortunately my car can be a 7 seater so Mr GG was dispatched to pick them up once the ferry docked last night!!!

GS was so pleased to see his Mummy this morning.

Off to London for the matinee of Bat out of Hell tomorrow then dinner at a recommended restaurant (Hawksmoor) to celebrate Mr.GG’s Birthday.

Wishing you all a peaceful Tuesday ??

Morning Mick, Morning All from a wild and wet corner of Somerset. Not even marys jelly babies would get me out of the door this morning. Need a catch up day, just not sure the energy or motivation is there. Time will tell. Hope Tuesday is kind to everyone.

Auntieflo Tue 18-Dec-18 08:30:34

Morning Mick, Annie to come and all. There are quite a few who are under the weather, so take care and try not to do too much. A bit of cosseting helps, especially if aided by a hot toddy or three.
I finished wrapping presents yesterday, but need more gift tags, so will get them when I go out later to volunteering.
My cake needs icing, but will get round to it some time.
Yesterday I made some marzipan fruits and will try to joosh them up in a bit. They look not too bad for a first effort.
Enjoy your day one and all.

Good morning from a damp and cloudy Birmingham. I’m going to take back most of the things I collected from JL yesterday, then do a bit of Christmas shopping. My Italian group is meeting at mine this afternoon- we’re going to make a paper star following instructions in Italian, and chat about our week. I’ll get a pannetone to get us in the mood. I hope everyone who is under the weather feels better. Enjoy your evening, Mick!

travelsafar Tue 18-Dec-18 08:06:29

It feels quiet mild outside, just got in from feeding the birds in the garden, although it is damp. Can't wait to get ready to go out as suffering a head cold and the fresh air will do me good i think. Off to meet up with friends for coffee this morning, i need cheering up as feel very low at the mo due to family bereavement and have lost my christmas spirit,. Feel like i just want to walk and walk...............

Greyduster Tue 18-Dec-18 08:02:54

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey and cold here in South Yorkshire. I am another exploring two freezers to see where I can make space today. I shall also be baking. Marydoll you may have to bribe me with jelly babies to get me outside today too! Have a good day folks.

NanKate Tue 18-Dec-18 08:02:23

Morning Mick and All.

Cloudy and slightly warmer in South Bucks.

Sorry to hear of the resurgence of your cough Mary and the horrid sickness that goes with it. I still have a low level cough, when will it go ?

Have fun with Wolfie Kitty.

DGS the elder reacting to the sad goings on in his family. I just want to be with him, hug him and say all will be well.

Off to chiropodist and more bloomin’ shopping.

Pittcity Tue 18-Dec-18 07:57:45

Good morning from a grey, windy Colchester. Not too cold though.
We seem to have acquired half a bottle of rum, so I had a hot rum and ginger last night....good for what ails you!
We seem to be prepared for next week. Filled the freezer and emptied the bank account yesterday. A few bits and bobs today.

NannyJan53 Tue 18-Dec-18 07:54:37

Good Morning from a very blustery Black Country, not long back from taking Partner to train station.

My DD is 40 today! How did that happen? She is at work today, so I am popping over later this afternoon, as her DH has organised a meal out for the two of them and I am babysitting. This is a surprise for her. She has already had a weekend in Dublin and a family meal just over a week ago.

This morning I am paying a visit to my Ex-Manager, then onto a hair appointment.

Hope everyone who is ill and feeling down, will feel much better as the day/week progresses.

Have a good day everyone.

NfkDumpling Tue 18-Dec-18 07:51:44

Morning All

After a lovely sunny (but freezingly cold) day yesterday we’re back to overcast, cold and miserable here in Norfolk.

I’m collecting DGS from school this lunchtime and he’s coming back for a sleepover and staying over tomorrow. GDog will be coming too - but not recently acquired GCat. GDog and GCat have bonded amazingly so I hope she’s not too upset at being left!

Stay warm and snug all, especially Marydoll and those feeling poorly. Not long now before the days start to draw out.

EllanVannin Tue 18-Dec-18 07:42:34

Good morning All x

I've no idea what the weather's doing as it's so black outside. Can't hear any rain but there seems to be a hint of the winds again----phooey, I don't like the gales.
Spent a lovely few hours with friends yesterday enjoying our Christmas dinners.

Must finish last letter today ( annual ) and get it sent off then that's that. It'll cost me £20+ in stamps----expensive !

Hope everyone stays well and warm. Those who are off colour, have a dark rum it works wonders.

oldgaijin Tue 18-Dec-18 07:34:26

Greetings all from a dark, windy and dreich Aberdeenshire. Phil the roofer came yesterday and replaced the roof ridge...he's coming back today to replace slates so I can fly South on Thursday without having to worry about storm damage.
Will start packing my suitcase today...I never know what to take so everything's laid out in the spare bedroom. Shall probably change my mind umpteen times! Jersey Boys sounds good, Mick. Enjoy!
Hope all the poorly GN's are feeling better soon.

Brunette10 Tue 18-Dec-18 07:27:25

Morning to everyone and to those who follow. Still dark here in Fife obviously but I reckon it's not to be a very nice day later on. Still not feeling 100% but just getting on with everything that's to be done. Have 2DGS today whilst DD is away at the hairdresser but don't think we will get out so busy day entertaining. For those feeling under the weather keep on going and hope you feel better soon.

kittylester Tue 18-Dec-18 07:24:34

Morning all from a windy North Leicestershire- not the best day for the hairdresser dragonfly!

I have Wolfie this morning!! sunshine and then a pedicure this afternoon!

Willow10 Tue 18-Dec-18 07:24:25

Gagagran - I think it would be easier to fly a rocket to the moon than get to grips with my new microwave. So far I can only warm up food and still can't defrost! Good luck with yours!
