My lovely friend died ten year ago, A few years before she died she gave me her pass book for the Yorkshire Penny Bank which she had been given in 1935. I thanked her and said rather than me keeping it perhaps I could find a museum or ask the Yorkshire Bank if they would be interested, and she agreed.
1935 was the Silver Jubilee of King George V and some (maybe all) children had a bank account opened for them with a deposit of one shilling from the King.
I took it into the Yorkshire Bank and the cashier asked what was the bank supposed to do with it! Oh dear!
I emailed the Beamish Museum but they never got back to me so I can only assume they are not interested.
Has anyone any good ideas? I feel sure it will be of interest somewhere.
