Her comments, made in a refugee camp where you possibly have no idea who is listening or who will see the interview, not knowing who is 'friend or foe' . It was not going to be the most relaxed or frank interview!
Imagine if she had said she had made a huge and dreadful mistake, she had witnessed dreadful atrocities and regretted everything. Many people on here would just have dismissed it all as lies anyway! She is on to a loser no matter what she does/ does not believe or say.

ISIS is not merely ' committed to establishing Sharia Law' .

If that were the case then why not leave their respective countries and go to known countries where Sharia Law is practiced , such as Saudi Arabia.

ISIS is hell bent on creating a Caliphate and in doing so they have their interpretation of Sharia Law that would most certainly not be mirrored by other Muslims .

No one knows - but her comments and attitude towards medieval barbarism would lead anyone to believe that this is not a peace loving woman. Interesting that she wants her child to grow up in peace here; is this a nod to our culture and democracy, which by joining ISIS she strove to destroy?

No. No one knows. And guess what? That is exactly why they have well trained reliable experts in place.

oldwoman there are many people, old and young, who are unfit to be teachers or babysitters.
But we don’t expel them, or refuse them entry to the country, do we?

There is no evidence that she has given birth. There is no evidence that she hasn’t.!

Books and films have been made about many unpleasant and difficult things. The media vye to interview many unpleasant people. Suggesting this may happen is perfectly sensible.

No one knows if she really was an impressionable kid who was groomed and was just a housewife.

No one knows if she’s still a dye in the wool jihadi who participated in heinous acts and still wishes us harm.

No one knows if she’s a woman who just wants to come home and live quietly or a calculating dangerous woman who wants to come home and groom other women to commit terror acts.

maryeliza I think we all know that the UK cannot refuse to repatriate a UK citizen.

Maybe she should be tried in Syria, serve her sentence, if any in Syria.

People are posting their thoughts on here, some including me have got things wrong and apologised. This is an extremely emotive subject matter and all posters are entitled to post how they feel.

The bottom line is we will never know 100% what she has seen, partaken of willingly or coerced into doing.

I think there is a world of difference between a daft young woman going out there to be a wife, and all the British actual IS fighters who we are going to have to deal with. And soon.

They will all have to be dealt with individually, and sentenced. It's gonna cost a packet but it's got to be done. There is no other way.

All this concern and vitriol about one young woman who may or may not still be as committed to establishing Sharia law as she once was. Meantime there are no doubt other teenagers being radicalised and groomed by older militants. One of the most useful things about bringing her home would be the insight we might get into her recruitment.

Old On this thread all I have ever done is provide facts and supported the rule of law. I have said that international law means we cannot permanently refuse her the right to come back, whatever our sorry excuse for a HS might say in his leadership bid. I have said that the child is a Btitish citizen by descent. I have said that we expect to be able to send foreign born criminals back to their natal country and rightly so ( if the law is followed) . I have said that on her return she should and will I am sure be taken into custody. I have not indulged in ill informed, rabble rousing, lynch mob mentality gossip and speculation about matters that need to be properly investigated.

Is there proof that she was definitely pregnant in the first place? Saying she has given birth (very sudden after her interview) and a short video of a squirming baby's foot briefly poking out of a blanket which appeared to be covering its face doesn't entirely convince me.

jane I concur with every single word in that article. It sums the whole situation up eloquently, rationally and thoughtfully.

Why not just have the bonfire waiting for her on her return Ginny? This thread gets more and more shrill with people so certain about so much who just demonstrate so clearly how little they know about anything. The rule of law will do for me and ill eschew ill informed cod psychology. Thanks jane and others who are more open in their attitudes.

It now begs questions about the media interest in this woman. I choose the term 'woman' deliberately as she may have gone out there a girl, but believe me she's older in the head and heart than I am and I'm an old lady.

The media will be vying with each other to get this story. Then there's the book and film.
