By making herself known, she may well disappear off the radar. There are two sides to this story and neither will want her speaking out.
🦞 The Lockdown Gang still chatting 🦞
What do people think about the young woman who ran away to join ISIS and now wants to return here to have her baby in safety?
I don't know what to think. I'm sorry her last babies died but I'm horrified to hear her dismiss unbelievers' heads in bins as 'enemies of Islam'. Any thoughts?

Buffybee
Thank you for mentioning this womans father.
There is a picture online showing him at a Anjam Choudary rant/ rally.
So I think it's safe to assume she wasn't radicalised, she was taught at her fathers knee. And guess who signed her travel documents.
It’s really not helpful to cry islamophobia and racism over any discussion involving child abuse or terrorism.
I don’t agree any violent group gets to hide behind peaceful religions. By calling them Muslim or Christian terrorists you reinforce the nonsense.
The IRA terrorists were not Catholic Christians and should have been denounced as such by the pope. Likewise the UDA.
Muslim leaders also have denounced isis as non Muslims. We all need to unite to stop evil grabbing religion to hide behind.
There is no such thing as an ‘Islamist terrorist or a Christian terrorist.
They are just terrorists.
It’s a ridiculous notion that the family and friends should be kicked out of the country! For goodness sake
I appreciate MOnica's comparison with Irish Catholics who say 'nothing to do with me ' in relation to IRA atrocities. The same goes for the Unionist community in NI. These different communities have support for their paramilitaries embedded .
I have similar feelings about slavery and the British Empire. It was al before I was born yet, I've benefited from the spoils of slavery and Empire. That's one of the influences on my personal politics. It follows that I expect communities where terrorists have blossomed to reflect on what they could do differently.
She may well have been a brainwashed and groomed young girl, but she is now an adult woman with several years experience of watching medieval atrocities that have, in her words, 'not fazed' her, and has stated that she does not regret what she did. Does she sound like a person this country should accommodate? I believe her father was also at a demo where the British flag was burned. I don't see why she should return to this country and live off the taxpayer, and perhaps anyone who thinks she should might like to offer her a room in their home. Can we be sure that she isn't still fully radicalised and planning terrorism? Trojan Horse springs to mind.
No JE, to comment on different races is not racist.
To suggest that the extended family of this person should be " thrown out" is racist and foolish. They are British, where would like to throw them?
I was referring specifically to what *JenniferEccles said about this woman's family. Not their extremism but the attack on them as a family. Other posts had a racist tinge.
Denouncing the extremists and criminals in any religion by saying they are not 'real/true' Muslims/Christians is a cop out. I am a catholic and half Irish and to say, for example, 'nothing to do with me', the IRA are not catholics, when all their support is embedded in the Irish catholic community, is an avoidance of the unpleasant facts that the IRA, come from the catholic community and that community needs to address the canker in that body that led to their violence.. The same with the many clerics of every religious community who have used their authority to abuse children.
These Islamic terrorists come from the Muslim community and they need to accept that and address the attitudes and lifestyles that nurture these within their community who are embracing the vile views of these extremists.
Unfortunately there are people who say racist things , behave in racist ways and espouse racist ideals. When a story of this type gets into the news such bigots use it to promote their racism and intolerance.
In my opinion a white racist holds similar views to ISIS in that they believe their beliefs are the right ones, their dogma is the only one that should carry power and anyone in disagreement needs to be got rid of.
My very dear Muslim friends fear Daesh and all that they stand for just as much as I do.
How on Earth is this islamaphobic?????
This woman and ISIS have nothing whatsoever to do with Islam anymore than the nazis did Christianity.
Stop bloody labelling people having a rational debate.
The instant cry of islamophobic allowed the grooming gangs to flourish and those men were no Muslims either just as child abusing priests arnt Christians.
So ignorant
It is no coincidence surely that that the tale of this individual is plastered all over the media.
Daesh, Syria, extremism, a huge and complex problem which cannot be distilled down into " Don't let Jihadi bride back"
PECS, Amira Abase's father came to the UK as a refugee from Ethiopia in 1999, so presumably arrived with nothing or very little.
He was given refuge and money and housing and quite rightly too.
But the same man in 2012 was rubbing shoulders with the hate cleric Anjem Choudary and Michael Adebowale who beheaded Fusilier Lee Rigby.
Nonnie the word lifelong, suggests longer than 4 r 5 years to me.
Hundreds have already come back.
Unfortunately we are now living in times when any perfectly valid criticism of those from a different race is automatically deemed to be racist, regardless of the circumstances.
I really hope this girl isn't permitted to return, especially as we now learn that there are, apparently, dozens of them wishing to come back.
would you stop the British man, Jack Letts from returning home
Yes I would. He left this country to Join an organisation that wants to destroy us.
It is not racist to say you are against terrorism or supremecy groups. It is not racist to express a view that you believe people joining such groups should face the legal consequences of their active choices.
It is racist to denounce innocent people , of that same race, faith or colour just because in some way they are associated with people who have made those choices.
Look at the Mitford sisters..or even currently the Johnson siblings.. they held/hold a range of opinions and attitudes and are siblings. You cannot hold one responsible for the other.
Actually PECS no, I'm not nit picking, I think Alexa meant her whole life rather than a lifetime. I think we all sometimes fail to express ourselves quite as well as we might, well I do.
Alexa you say "lifelong" but she was radicalised at 14/15 and is now 18/19 that is 4 or 5 years.. hardly a lifetime! There are young (and not so young) drug addicts, alcoholics, gang members etc who had very seedy and dangerous lives who have turned around and now work to try to inform, and prevent, young people taking the routes they did.
I am no expert so no idea if this is possible for this this particular woman but it is possible for some.
mOnica, I applaud you for stating sensible & reasoned views, with which I, agree. (I'm a woman and a British mum/grandma, despite the user name!)
Jalima I also included imperialists and not just missionaries. I was not just confining my self to UK. The Mayan and Aztec communities, the African slave trade.. all dirty history. Does not justify current abhorrent situations in any way..just saying it has happened before and perpetrated by different groups throughout history.
Buffybee asked why people went to countries when they did not actually support the values or lifestyle.
I do not know where, when, how or why Begum's family originally came to the UK. They may well have come because they did support the way of life here! You only have to read through this Forum to see parents in despair because their children did not turn out as they expected! Shit happens in many families.
She would also have to be protected from right wing extremists.
If, and it's a big practical if, she can make her way back to Britain, she will have to be guarded carefully so that she cannot act as a centre for ISIS sympathisers who are the great danger now that the fighting Daesh are disbanded.
I have no idea how a lifelong extreme right wing Muslim criminal might be turned into an honest citizen, but her new baby will need to be removed from Daesh influences, and fostered.
The alternative, leaving her stranded in Turkey, if she should manage to make her way there, isn't possible as we have a moral duty if not a a legal duty to deal with our home grown criminals.
Agreed the missionaries did not go violently as warriors
Oh, so no beheading and no using of children as suicide bombers etc then?
We had missionaries in our family; they were not arrogant but well-meaning, tried to do good as well as spread what they believed to be the truth, lived poorly and died in poverty too. They did not go to any of the countries you mention.
Nor did they have power lust.
Actually, I don't think your post answered Buffybee's question.
Presumably, Buffybee, the parents came here for sanctuary from the conditions in their own countries. The parents may have embraced life in the UK. Unfortunately, there are people - who may not be living in this country but are on the internet - who are only too ready to radicalise susceptible young people.
Some of this smacks of the old "reds under the beds".
