I reckon I must have about 20 or so of these filed away in my brain with most of the words still there!
For those of us of a certain age (you may not be, of course, Lily65!) they are all in a file in our brains probably from morning school assemblies.
The one Roman Catholic and the two Jewish girls had to sit them out - assemblies were not very inclusive in those days!
Most of the Roman Catholic girls went to the convent.
Jane10 it is amazing, if going to church for a christening, funeral or whatever these days, that many of the younger generation look bewildered and don't know the tunes or words of the hymns, it's generally the oldies who sing.
Mind you, if I go to a harvest festival, Christingle or other service these days, I don't know the new hymns.
