Soops kitchen refuge for gentle ladies

This is a very brief visit. I shall have more time when we return from the GP. I'm only having dressings changed today. I may get a call from the breast clinic in Glasgow (just a courstesy call) which may happen in my absence. Friday is proper hosp appointment at Vale of Leven. It is then that I shall have stage 2 of the plan explained in detail.

Been to visit our pal and another dear lady in the care home. About to have lunch.

Thanks Harriran, I have a tub of Magnesium Sulphate, which I bought the other day to replace the one I gave away to DD's fiancé, as he had a poisoned finger! It's really hard to get these days.

Marydoll, soak in sugar soap. When I worked in casualty we used to apply magnesium sulphate paste and bandage, haven't heard of it in years but assume it still exists. I think I would see someone about it because thorns can introduce infection.
Lovely babies. Friends baby didn't have one tooth until she was 18 months old, used to eat baguette ?

Ann how sad I feel for you. I’m sure the best decision for your H will be taken. As you say, it’s not something you expect and although I’ve no direct experience of your situation, I can imagine how harrowing it is for you, The important thing is to look after yourself. Hopefully you csn meet your granddaughter, go to the garden centre and have a coffee, just do,something a bit different. Meanwhile you know your H is being looked after by a team of people.

Loving the lambs GrannieQ , we took the little boys to see lambing live - I'm a big believer in children seeing that sort of thing as a sort of circle of life thing. Suffice it to say they wont be eating lamb for a while lol - Cooper was convinced the little lamb arrived in his own carrier bag !!!

Its a bright day today , we are off to weigh in where no doubt Grampy will have lost loads and me nothing - damn him !! He insists we stay when he loses as the old ladies make such a fuss of him. He's like the class pet lol !!!

Then to celebrate my lack of weight loss I will make him take me out for lunch!!!!

Well the oven is still not working , in fact its in bits now as we await the arrival of the replacement element - that's my excuse for eating out and Im sticking to it !!

Good morning all.
Sending very best wishes to soop and dragonfly for their visits today, hope all news is good.
My poor H is away with the fairies still.
He knew me but no idea whare he is or why.
He had kept the staff on their toes calling for them every two minutes.
I have my doubts he will be going back to the care home.
Nothing said but the ward Sister said when he is medically ready for discharge they will be liasing with SS to see what is best for him.
At least now they will be not be pressing for me to have him home as has happened on the last two admissions.
I am immeasurably sad that our lives have changed to this, we never expect it do we?

I also meant to send my good wishes to Anne and hope she is getting the support she and her DH need.

I thought I would try and help Mr MD, with the fence painting yesterday, neither of us can move today. There is no fool like an old fool
I said that next time, we would pay someone to do it. His reply: It lasts about seven years this time, I will probably be dead by the next time it needs done! ?

His comment did set me thinking. I have new ceramic pans being delivered today, they come with a twenty five year guarantee, but I don't need a twenty five year guarantee. .

I have a thorn in my finger and I have tried everything to get it out, it's throbbing. I wondered if any of you wise Kitcheners have any tips on how to get it out. I have soaked it, poked with a needle, squeezed it, but no success.

I'm off to do some baking, I don't know what yet, but I shall leave something at the kitchen door.

callgirl your comments about good stock are just right! Sadly I can’t manage to look as elegant as you soop on a good day and after a good nights sleep, never mind just days after major surgery!! I frightened myself looking in the mirror this morning (after a fragmented nights sleep) when an old lady, suspiciously like my mother, looked right back at me!! Life without your friend will feel strange soop, bless you, you have so much going on in your life and all happening at the same time. Do take good care of yourself too -though I’m sure your lovely man is doing his very best in that department.

I’ve just spent a frustrating hour on the “big” computer trying to secretly book a night away to give the old boy a surprise on his birthday this week. I got 99% through the process, while he was busy watching footie on tv, but then the ‘puter went into very slow motion and didn’t seem to complete the booking. I’ve had no email confirmation so I’m guessing the website was faulty or of course I may have entered something incorrectly wouldn’t be the first time! So I’ll have to sort it tomorrow, if I can get onto it without being overheard! So far birthday plans are not going well, good job it’s not a special one! I’d ordered him a nice pen too then today had an email telling me it’s not arriving any time soon. He insists he doesn’t care at all about these things but then looks disappointed if we all take him a his word - I can’t win!

Sorry kitchen friends I’ve once again spectacularly failed to properly catch up. So for anyone I’ve ignored I apologise, and if it was you I’ve missed please don’t take it personally!

Been at hospital all day today. For a change not for us but helping with relative whose children (who are very loving and supportive) had all got their own hospital/doctor/work appointments and couldn’t be there. What started out as an hours help turned into a whole day visit as the hospital suddenly decided to discharge relative at a moments notice. We were left to change appointments with SS, consultant, x ray and Red Cross and get patient home. All accomplished but worn out now so although I have read all the posts too exhausted to reply. So hope everyone in kitchen land is ok. Lovely, lovely photos of beautiful smiling babies ?. You must admit our kitchen babies are a handsome/beautiful bunch. Wishing improvement to all the poorly and a good nights sleep for all. I’m winding down with a and have left the bottle on the worktop for anyone wishing to join me ?.
P.s. DH informs he he has been invited to a photography exhibition in Slough.............California!!!!! ?

Grey Bless your dear grandson. It seems to happen all too soon. In next to no time he'll be towering over you. Apart from Torben and the greatgrandchildren - I am the shortest member of the entire clan.

Had a lovely nap. A greenfinch flew into the bedroom window. It was an almighty crash. MacSporran investigated. Bird was lying on it's side but breathing. Thirty minutes later it was sitting on the path. And then...it flew away back to the sanctuary of the nest.

We shall both be visiting our friend in the care home tomorrow. I know that he'll be feeling very fragile since his wife's funeral. From hereon we'll do our best to be of comfort to him. It will seem very strange signing in without my pal adding her name to the visitors book.

Log off time. I shall return once we return from the visit. After which, back to the GP to have the dressings changed.

Maw I’m sure Otis will start making up his weight again soon. It still puts him over seven pounds which is a decent weight. All will be well.?

Don't worry about the toothlessness. When they start teething too early - as DS2 did, at 4 months - they seem less able to cope and consequently make much more fuss about it. Your GD's teeth will probably come in a rush all of a sudden and the teething period will be over before you (and her parents) know it.
