Why do i never learn my lesson and come in more often? It’s the only way to have a hope of ever catching up with all the comings and goings in this busy kitchen. Hey ho, some people just never learn!

Little Otis is truly squeezable maw, you’ve set off some serious baby envy now. I want one too, but only in the same theoretical sort of way that you do swanny! Sorry your grandson is having friend problems, it’s so hard for them to navigate that sort of stuff.. Hope it gets sorted out without too much angst all round. There’s been a big falling out between our 12 year old gs and his buddy too, they’ve been good pals since they were tots and as a result the 2 families have become friendly. It’s all rather awkward as the other mum involved isn’t able to see that her lad might have done anything unkind. It seems that the “friend” has begun hanging out with some older boys at secondary school and has been ignoring our gs at aschool but also bad mouthing him to others boys in his class. Dd is upset about the falling out, its been awkward in some social situations. However she is relieved that our gs is showing no interest in these older boys who she hears are not likely to be a good influence. Hard as it sometimes is just being the granny who sits helplessly on the sidelines watching various worries play out, there’s a huge bit of me that’s very relieved I’m not the mummy in these tricky child rearing times!

Glad to hear that you’re mending soop, I do hope your recovery carries on - aided of course by doing as little as possible.... hmm that’s the bit I’m not so sure about. But then again I know that the lovely Macsporran will be
keeping a very close eye on you!

Nothing like a plain speaking grandson, to say it how it is greyduster and your Mrgd certainly has a mischievous streak! panache your accommodation issues are a hard
one to solve with all the different aspects to consider. I do hope that you can find a workable solution that, if not absolutely perfect, is good enough to meet your needs.

Well I know for certain that I will have missed more kitcheners than I have ever remembered, not intentional at all. So sending good wishes to kitchen folk old and new, with special warm thoughts for any with heavy burdens to bear.

Have just returned for our friend's funeral. She died from Necrotizing fasciitis. Drove herself to the GP. Put on a drip. Ambulanced to Oban. Transferred to Glasgow, lapsed into a coma and died several hours later. What a woman. Such a dear friend.

I now need to go to GP to have the ostomy bag removed. We then go into Campbeltown to buy and send birthday cards. Also do a wee shop.

When we return, I shall take a proper look around our kitchen and read all your messages.

What a dreadful shock for both your husband and yourself Susan........really feeling for you but thankful it was not too serious, though obviously a 3 month period off work means he has quite some recovering to do.

You certainly know how to steal the limelight Maw........what an absolute darling young Otis is.
I can imagine you and the parents are proud as punch.

Thinking especially of you this morning Soop having to face the funeral after the sudden death of a good friend will be difficult,especially since you too have and are going through dramas of your own.

Great news hearing you have had those stitches removed from your gum GaGa............very unpleasant for sure.

Young Bertie is certainly a real trooper Kitty but of course, sadly, he is getting used to these Hospital interv entions........... which seem so much part of his life.
Good news having your backing for his step dad too,it helps to know one is doing a good job as I suppose it is not always the greatest job in the world........depending on many circumstances.

I hope you did manage to read my reply to your very considerate posting about how MCCarthy & Stone have now expanded the way they sell their properties Doodle...........sadly though you well remembered our situation.......we have only the one such company within our hospital catchment area (which is now a big must for us,poor though the Service has been for my man)......therefore we cannot count them in, although yes I certainly would favour them given an opportunity.

I’ve been asked to give a reference. I’ve given quite a few in the past but always for a colleague or a volunteer. This is someone who I worked with for several years but who became a close friend. We meet up regularly since I retired. My dilemma is whether to write this as a professional reference, or a personal/character reference. I’d very much appreciate the advice of more knowledgeable kitcheners!

I should stick to catching little ones.”. He is coming to stay tonight as his parents are running a half marathon tomorrow and have a very early start.

Swanny, I'm sorry to hear about your wee grandson. As a teacher, I often had to deal with situations like this. It's quite difficult when everyone is upset. In my experience, they will either make it up or move on and find a new best friend. I hope it is resolved soon.
My daughter fell out with her friend of fourteen years at high school, it affected everyone, especially me, as her friend's mum was my best friend. I did realise that there are two sides to every story. My DD wasn't entirely innocent.
However, despite all the angst my friend and I are still good friends twenty years later, although my daughter and her friend have never spoken since!

Grey, I hope you have dried out! My husband did the same on a golf course in Spain. Unlike you, he dried out within ten minutes. The steam was rising from his shirt, as it was 90 degrees plus. My son was mortified, as it was a very posh golf club.

The red tulip bulbs that I shoved in pots last October have come up trumps and look absolutely glorious. I think they are one of my favourite flowers. So glad I got round to planting them.

Stepfathers/mothers have an uphill struggle in dealing with the stereotypical image of being 'baddies' but I have yet to meet one who actually is. Maybe I'm blinkered or just lucky but I see second family partnerships as being stronger, as there is more than one person to consider for a future relationship.

It's been a worrying ol' week here with DGS having trouble at school with his (up to now) best friend. Both lots of parents called to a meeting with teachers but I've not had opportunity to privately discuss the outcome.

soop, it's good that your 'drainage' is drying up though it's frustrating for you that the path lab hasn't come up with your test results yet.
kitty, thank you for asking about my sister. As her speech is now unintelligible, we message each other daily. She has to be fed through a tube with a pump that works overnight. Despite all this, she is still driving and has been out to meetings of her book club and U3A. An app on her i-pad allows her to communicate. In spite of the recent massacre in Christchurch she manages to keep her spirits up and I am so sad that I can't be there with her.
Grey, open-water swimming isn't a good idea until the weather gets really warm. Take care!
Susan, what a shock for you. I hope your DH's injuries will soon heal.
The eyebrow I gashed in a fall three weeks ago has healed beautifully and the scar is, even now, hardly noticeable. The self-soluble stitches haven't quite vanished yet but merge nicely with the white hairs in my eyebrow!

Thank you again for all your kind messages.My husband has slept most of the day and is in a better frame of mind now.He is most upset about not going back to work,the dr has estimated three months recovery time and as DH is retiring in nine weeks he won’t be going back.His first ever period of sickness.
