My head is whirring and I am having real difficulty in keeping up with all the events in our Kitchen, plus all the new faces peering around the door!!

Meanwhile commiserations to you and your family Kitty, my word if its not one of your lot,its another! Not at all nice for young Bertie and worrying for you too.
Hopefully he is back home feeling better again.
It certainly is NOT your year!

Leaving you Soop to slowly and carefully "Paddle your own canoe"........recovery takes its own time and is best not rushed.My old favourite saying "One day at a time" does work well.
Torben is certainly going to be a real hit with the lasses,a very handsome lad indeed.A beautifully crafted face.

It has been a rotten year and even much longer for you Ann ,of course we understand that you have these moments of utter despair,we can but hope they are somewhat tempered by a few small uplifts.
Even a spot of sunshine helps when things are at rock bottom.

I am still awaiting hearing how many acres you have at your disposal N & G.............An Oval Office now............the additions are mind boggling!!

Life continues in our patch trying to work through our many difficulties,not being aided by poor service from our Hospital does NOT help or encourages us,however giving in or giving up is NOT an option.......... so onward we battle I guess!!!

Although the temperatures are very comfortable, there is a slight drizzle and yet the sun is trying to break through.
We live in hope.

Fennel and Dragonfly My breast cancer is driven by hormones. As I'm not on HRT and had a complete hysterectomy yonks ago, one part of my treatment to take anti eostrogen meds. Sorry, can't remember proper spelling. Too lazy to go and look it up. My late mother had bilateral mastectomy. Her only medication began with T. Tamoxifan (?)
When I hear the results of path report sometime today, I shall share with you.
Not a single drop of anything in the stoma bag. From 300 mls to nowt.

kitty I am so sorry to hear tha Bertie is going through a rotten time with his asthma. It seems totally unfair that a child should suffer from such distressing conditions.

corner I get the picture. Picky peeps are few and far between in our circle. Me, I'll eat almost anything put in front of me. With the exception of sweetmeats/testicles.

I also was given Tamoxifen following my first breast cancer operation,but sadly within 18 months a cancer and mastectomy of the second breast followed.
Had that been today .....with all the extra care and screening offered....... I am sure I would have had a double mastectomy in the first place.
It goes to show those of you facing these treatments today the great advancement in Breast Cancer Care since the early 1980`s.............most encouraging.

Talking about improvement in breast cancer treatment, my favourite aunt, (and namesake) had her right breast removed in about the 1960s. They followed it up with radiotherapy from which she got severe burns.
The cancer didn't return ut she died relatively young - 62.
She also had a lung removed from TB while in her 20s.

Breast Clinic call came as promised. Path lab report not complete. I may get a call on Tuesday if the team has received the details. If not, I shall hear the result in person at next Friday's hospital appointment.

Am pottering aboot the hoos. Will shortly retire to my bed - get comfy - read a chapter or two from a very well written crime writer - sup tea - maybe doze.

Hi lovely people,I don’t post often but needed a port in a storm.Had a phone call at 8.15 to say my husband had been involved in a road traffic accident.He has leg,back and neck injuries but is ok.My car was in the garage for its MOT so didn’t know how I was going to get to him,phoned the garage and within five minutes they had my car back to me.People have been so amazingly kind to us.I dealt with everything but now I am back home am a wreck.Just needed to tell someone.My husband was due to retire in 9 weeks but doesn’t look like he will be going back to work.

Dear Susan what a terrible thing to happen. You have come to the right place! I hope that the injuries are not too serious but you must be very shocked too. Please take great care of yourself.

Hello the kitchen. I have left some warm scones, home-made strawberry jam and a pot of clotted cream on the table. Help yourselves everyone.

I had my stitches out of my gum this morning and it felt wonderful. My lovely dentist said it was all healing up well and then proceeded to do a filling on the other side. Very glad he did as that tooth was very jumpy with hot or cold. I still need more treatment after the neglect of my previous dentist who kept insisting all was well despite my pain. In the end I lost all confidence in her and walked away and found this new one, who has been excellent so far.

I have been following your progress soop and am so pleased that it went well and you are recovering at home with Macs looking after you.

Good to see friends old and new keep popping in the kitchen - a haven of tranquility for many I know.

So sorry to read your news Susan - you must be in shock, Fingers crossed your DH makes a full recovery. Look after yourself. I hope you have support at this worrying time.

Susan, what a terrible shock for you. You have definitely come to the right place for hugs. Remember, you need to look after yourself too or you will be no use to your husband.

Dear Susan What a terrible shock. The suddeness of receiving such news must have taken your breath away. Us lot are here to offer you whatever comfort we can. You will be needing support from loved ones in your family. Do you have any living locally? Thank goodness for friends who rally during such times. Your husband will be well cared for. GaGa I can only imagine the relief of having stiches removed from the gum. You will have been through a tough time. Lots of jumpy nerves reminding you that you are hopefully on the mend. Love to you.

I'm glad to report that Bertie is on the road to recovery. They arrived home at 5 am!! We didn't go to see him as he was very tired but will see him over the weekend when he will be playing football!!!

kitty Five am!!! What an unearthly hour. Even so, Bertie is best with his nearest and dearest. He is a trooper of the highest order. Bless him.

I am logging off. The funeral is mid morning. I may therefore join you later in the day. We should have been having a wee celebratory meal with our friend. Life is so fragile.

Susan, so sorry to read about your husband`s accident, but pleased to hear that his injuries aren`t too severe, although still not nice.
Kitty, poor Bertie, these last few months haven`t been kind to him, have they?
GreyD, sorry to laugh, but Hee-hee-hee! Reminded me of when in Florida, I was taking photos, stepped back to get a wider view, and fell into a river! Albeit a shallow one, I still wrote off my husband`s new camera, had to walk around for ages in wet clothes, and suffer the laughter of my husband, daughter and son-in-law!
I`m so sorry, having been absent from the kitchen since Monday night, although I`ve read everything, my memory just won`t retain it all, so apologies to all who I`ve missed out. I`m off to London tomorrow until Saturday, so there`ll be even more to catch up on when I get back!
Soop, I hope that your friend`s funeral goes off OK, such a sad time.

DD3's new partner is an absolutely fabulous Dad to Bertie and Persie. It was he who spent all night in hospital with Bertie, came home at 5, had a sleep and then went to work. He's not a pushover with the children but is a real father to them and, as last night proved, steps up to the plate.

DS2 is a stepdad too but, as yet hasn't had to take his boys to A&E but he also does the right thing by them.

I was going to start a thread along those lines but am not up to the aggro that might ensue!!

Yes stepfathers can be wonderful. I'm forever grateful to my husband of 40years who took me on with 3 young children.
He has a daughter too.
They all love him.
